Stop gating allied races behind reps

To give you another reputation bar to grind through - increasing the amount of investment you’ve put in?

I can see the OP is a bit emotional over this, but I, personally, do not mind having to earn the races at all. Now, as an aside, I certainly did not like having to wait 6 months to make my Zandalarian trolls, but I have them now and they are awesome and I did not mind playing the game to get them. It’s like in my huge

THREAD HERE

I think they should make even more things locked behind achievements- relevant achievements. Allied races are cool and fun and are something one earns. I’ll also make this point- at least I have to know about them. In other words, I have played since vanilla and in MoP they introduced the Pandarens. They are playable, but I, to this day, have no idea why they are on the Horde and Alliance. I know I could make one, but if it has more than two toes and three fingers- I don’t play it. If I would have had to do some things in-game to unlock them, at least I know why the heck they exist at all. Same for Worgen and Goblins. I haven’t a clue what’s going on with them. Logged in and BAM goblins were in Azshara.

I honestly dont understand how some of you think pathfinder is equivalent to races. I wish I could understand your thought process with this one, but I cant. The only conclusion I can come up with is some people just like the idea that there will be less of race X because of this system. Pick any other reward for time played, but locking class/race combo’s like this just seems like backward thinking.

WoW needs to pander more to new players not those of us who play anyways. I think some of you guys just like being part of a special club or something. I on the other hand want more of my friends who quit or others to try it out, but the ones who quit just see this system as a “you have to log on every day” type of thing.

What is the upside to race unlocks being handled this way?

I don’t know what else i can say to help you understand.

As I said right above this post, the upside is that I know what the heck is going on lol Pandas, Worgen, and Goblins- why are they on our teams? No idea. I did nothing to help them, they were just there one day. Now, Zandalari, oh dear lord, I definitely know why they allowed the Horde to join their Empire.

if you want something locked behind rep you do the rep and get what you want. do you think i actually want to do everything i have to do to grind pathfinder? no, i do not. but i want to fly eventually so i jump through those hoops. this is no different.

You could play a worgan or goblin and figure it out pretty easy… I mean, there are so many other ways they could handle this. I mean I dunno what you are talking about, specially with panda’s. They are explained amazingly in their starting zone. Hell every race with a starting zone from expansions are better integrated, imo, then the allied races.

But I don’t play them, I only play trolls.

Whats wrong with new players earning things like other players did, …why should they be treated like special snowflakes cause they decided not to play until now. It’s like me joining a game of Monopoly and saying since your midway in the game, give me boardwalk, park place and few other property’s since I haven’t been playing…games don’t work that way.

you’re rewarded for being subbed the entire time with being able to play the new race as soon as they’re available. it’s one of the only real perks of being subbed the whole time.

My investment resets when I make a new character.

Sounds like you want to be a snowflake more then you are worried about some other new or returning player being a snowflake. New or returning players would just pick the race that looks cool to them. Players in defense of this system just wana feel special from basic mmo features.

Plus, what if I said you cant be the car in monopoly until you own all of the blue lands(Oh and after you change to the car you lose all your land)? Would seem pretty stupid, huh?

Basic MMO features shouldnt be some equivalent of a blue ribbon. Just not going to agree here.

20 years ago they still had cell phones. 3G didnt exist until 2001 but the 1G was there since 1979!

the basic races you can pick up and go. you can be a brand new account and play a regular dwarf or tauren. they are there from the moment you open the game. these are prestige awards. not regular races. they are fine locked behind rep.

Wait, when you make a new character, for as long as I have played WoW, new characters are new and have to get their rep up. I do like how they all share rep towards achievements (I did not want to have to get AB, AV, and Warsong up to max on my main a second time from vanilla!). But on each character is that not how rep has worked for 15 years. I scrolled up, but I am obviously not understanding something.

I’ve known about zandalari trolls since vanilla.

So then a race to you is a blue ribbon that makes sense to you… I think that is really dumb thing to want but whatever. It’s clear people think this is enough of a status symbol to defend I guess. But I really dont get that mentality. Mythic/Heroic raid gear? Sure. Races? No…

I don’t mind the rep for something like Allied Races. I remember having to grind to unlock mounts and what not. What I hate is not being able to buy the friggin mounts that are RNG locked on rep boxes. I NEVER got one of them in Legion.

Yeah, got exalted with them back in vanilla- have the feat of strength to show it. I still am not following you though. Do we not have to get rep on alts anymore? Or does it not always reset like you are saying? That’s what I am confused about.

mythic gear won’t matter at all at the end of a tier. other than for transmog. it’s less important than a race by far. my race i earned and unlocked and i can play him and level him and take him wherever the game goes until the game goes offline. big difference.
