Stop gating allied races behind reps

Your response doesn’t even make sense in response to what I said. Seems like you are throwing more of a temper tantrum then anyone else here, because you cant handle this system being called out. You need to get a hold of yourself.

Well it is interesting that I even found the unlock quests to be dumb for the Zandalari Trolls.

They want me to have an “experience” - but I do, once I get my race I’m leveling up a new toon, doing some race changes, dancing in dungeons, and playing FUN content. Dumb quests aren’t fun and they don’t serve the very purpose Bliz thinks they do - they are just in the way of my playing the game.

All rep, time, and other gating is counter-productive to their very goals of the game.

I can get to 70 in 2-3 days.

what can you get to 70 in 2-3 days? a new toon? if so it doesn’t seem like it would take you long to relevel once you open up a new race. lol

You guys complain about the system with every xpac thats all you do is complain, you complaining more than you play the game. And what you guys dont see is with “earning” these races you just did get new races to play but once you unlocked them you got a mount per race so that was 6 new mounts for just playing the story…

Wow, how long did it take you to come up with that.

As someone currently working on the rep to unlock Void Elves, all I can say is screw Argus forever. Two more days and I’ll never have to set foot in that place again.

I really don’t mind rep grinding, but I would have preferred this particular one be literally anywhere else, up to and including Vashj’ir.

Even so, I left Legion before ToS was released and still managed to get Lightforged/Argusian rep done for the Alliance ones.

This all during BfA as well. I really wanted them, so I did it.

I bet that was a lot more boring to do than current content. Still… I really wanted a Void Elf, so I sucked it up and did it.

I think people don’t realise, it’s not as hard as it seems.

You know what else? My fresh Void Elf unlocked Dark Iron, and already has the rep for Kul Tirans. I just really struggle to find motivation to play Alliance.

One thing I agree with though, would suck if that’s ALL you want to play for.

You don’t understand the point of the thread.

it’s not hard to unlock any of these races and then level them. obviously i’ve leveled an allied race myself. you can see that i have the achievement for the DID heritage armor. if i can do it then anyone can. i am the most lazy wower in the history of wow. and i still did it. it really depends on how much you want it.

So because people show up 6 months late to the party, Blizzard should just throw out all requirements for unlocking things? “Haha joke’s on you loyal consumers who played since launch and earned your allied races, we’re tossing the requirements for the new peeps!”

What does that have to do with the unlock system for races? Unlocking the races is dumb, if you want to talk about mounts thats fine locking mounts behind rep is pretty normal. And no you dont get exalted from “just playing the story”. I was fortunate enough to be playing since launch but not everyone has. To make people max a character to sit there for a month to go and level another character is just nonsensical.

It’s not even that, to me. Races are a pretty basic thing, the idea that holding them back until you have played for X amount of hours is just nuts to me. You were willing to do that, I have tons of friends who are not and as a result I’ve a lot less people in my friends list because people didnt like the idea that you were punished for not logging in everyday to unlock some pretty basic MMO features.

Neverwinter Nights is the only MMO I can think of that does this and it is F2P. I just dont see how this system benefits anyone, other then people who have been playing since launch. This just isnt comparable to Gear, mounts, or even hero classes. At least with DH/DK you dont “lose” progress since you start at the level you need to unlock the class.

This just seems like corporate manipulation to try and drag out subs.

Yes, lets compare races to “unlocking things”. Just because there are a small handful of F2P MMO’s that does this, doesnt make it a good system.

So why does my rep reset when i make a zandalari?

Or you can be like other MMO’s where the give you like 4 basic races, and charge you to unlock each and every other race…you want that instead…cause I dont…Sorry for those that got here a bit late , but just like with pathfinder, just have to put in the time and grind it out, dosen’t take that long anyway…

You’re right. so why do i have to wait a month to have the ability to level my new toon?

Despite what the people on the forums think, Blizzard aren’t stupid. They know if they give in 6 months or even a year after an expansion is out to lower requirements for things like Allied Races and Pathfinder that people will just wait to buy the expansion until then. Sure you could say “Well they still get the money”, but they also lose out on subs during that time. It’s just a bad business decision.

They’ll most likely lower or make the rep easier to get with the next expansion like they did the Legion reps with this expansion.

Not the same thing. How is pathfinder even remotely comparable in your head? Also, name me another MMO that isnt F2P that does this? SWTOR sorta does this I guess but they are F2P with an option sub model. Neverwinter Nights is a very shady F2P system. I cant think of another bigger mmo that does this.

So what because they released 4 races, Im supposed to think this unlock system makes sense? So are you trying to infer that these races wouldnt be possible without this weird unlock system for basic mmo features? I find that perspective to be very weird unless people just like feeling special about having a race others dont, I guess.

So, why are allied races which arent even new and orginal models gated behind a reputation vs the past expansions new races?
