Yeah. A casual with no connections to skilled players should just immediately be just as skilled as a Gladiator from the start of a season is just not reasonable. Part of what made previous expansions good was when the vendor was available and everyone was allowed to be on the same playing field outside of class and skill.
Class mogs are awesome. But you can do those without RNG timegated borrowed power tied to them.
The problem is inferior players getting 2/4pc while you get 0/4 by week 3 of full vaults.
Sorry, if people don’t like it they don’t like it.
tier isnt the problem Blizzard just needs more rng protection in general in this content.
It would be fine if catalyst creation system was available sooner.
The fact of the matter is a lot of us won’t be seeing our tier sets until then. THAT’S A PROBLEM WHEN IT’S 2 MONTHS AFTER RAID RELEASE.
No, I will complain. The acquisition is absolutely horrendous. Creation catalyst should be available much sooner. It’s incredibly frustrating to constantly get screwed over by RNG week after week.
It’s not fun and it needs to change.
I like them bringing back tier sets again. But they should make some changes to it before 10.0. There’s shouldn’t be any RNG for PvP gear and there should be less RNG for it in PVE.
They promoted tier sets for this expansion and gave it to us on the last patch. Sigh
Except my CE Guild is benching me from prog because in unlucky.
So my guild is going for Alliance HOF, starting mythic prog next week. I have 5 toons, a Prot/Holy Pally, Resto Shaman, MW/BrM Monk, Fury/Prot Warrior and a BDK. The goal was that everyone would blitz M+ and run normal and heroic splits for 3 weeks, but by last week people starting to claim their mains but the rule is they have to have at least a 2 piece.
So this is how week 1 week.
8/11N/8/11H+8 mythics
Pally: 1 tier piece from vault
Monk: 0
Warrior: 0
Shaman: 0
BDK: 1 tier from Vault
All of our healers for their 2 piece week 1 so i had to claim a tank (guild had a prot pally claimed) or dps spot
This is how week 2 went
11/11N+11/11H+8 mythics
Pally: 1 from raid
Monk: 0
Warrior: 0
Shaman: 1 tier piece from raid & vault
BDK: 0
So now as of today dps warrior slot is filled and they won’t take a warrior tank. My only option is BrM and BDK, shaman has 2 piece but healers and dps are claimed.
Today:
BDK: 11/11N+11/11H
BDK: I got a tier piece, the same one i Had, traded to Dh who now has a 4 piece
BrM: Not run yet
So if i don’t get my 2 piece from the vault on my BDK or get lucky in the raid on my Monk I’ve been told I’m benched. Oh and we brought in a new rogue to sub in, in our normal clear they got ALL 5 Tier pieces looted. Not traded, actually looted. WTF…
This RNG has to be fixed, this bad luck is awful!
That’s a pretty bold move by your raid leader considering the current tuning your raid won’t get past Halondrus anyway even with 4p.
They have the same chance as everybody else. Nobody ever started out super geared in PvP unless they were taking their Naxx40 gear into random BGs.
Yet they haven’t removed all the gear even though people have complained about RNG for a very long time.
Not in the current state of the game. It’s not realistic in the slightest to think that everyone has the same chance at getting Gladiator. There’s no need to have Glad players outgearing casuals to such a massive degree.
I mean in all honesty, I always saw this from the beginning as rigged to fail, not doomed to fail. The way they handled tier this time around compared to the past just kind of screams to me they didn’t want tier, but people wanted it, they made it so people would think the patch is going to save the game and that Blizzard is finally listening, implemented it poorly so they’re burnt out and removing it a second time is less controversial of a move.
Kind of the same way titanforging went down. They realized it was a mistake they couldn’t really take back, so they made it unbearable for players then replaced it with something much worse so they could remove free random item level procs on drop without people going berserk.
It wasn’t perfect, a lot of people still wanted titanforging but the move to corruption soured a lot of people on the idea of gear having more RNG than simply dropping and it being much better than it should be as a result.
They did this with Classic too, Vanilla they refused to fix things that needed to be fixed like World Buffs which as someone from a server firsting guild on Nostalrius, we warned them exactly what would happen before release if they didn’t do something about world buffs. They got exactly what we told them, people buff up on a free night early in the week then just don’t play the game until raid because getting world buffs basically locks you out of playing your character unless you want to get them again which is a massive chore.
TBC they butchered primarily by gating everything instead of what made TBC so great which was having all of tiers 4 and 5, then Hyjal in the game from the release of the expansion which isn’t good considering in TBC there’s not a whole lot to keep one playing after being pre-raid BiS unless they arena, the fact you had to stomach tier 4 for 3 months when it was down to taking two hours a week for most guilds by the first month just sucked the soul of out people.
That’s actually impressive that Alliance has the liberty to wait an entire week of progression out and still not be at any threat of not placing in Hall of Fame lmao. On Horde every second matters.
Maybe they should have kept tier as raid drops only like most of its life.
I mean, that would make the most sense but your playerbase isn’t exactly presently full of people who will think pragmatically about these things. They’d see that and scream Blizzard is catering to raiders.
The issue with tier in the first place was that when it was coupled with legendaries, you had a good half of your item slots you just couldn’t touch or shift. As a rogue getting your tier shoulders was a slap in the face because it may have been your 4 set, but you needed the legendary shoulders to perform. It was a dead piece right out the gate.
They could easily rectify this problem by expanding on the system they had in Legion with random bags dropping from mobs you could enchant on gear. Have sigils that imbue an item with counting as part of a tier set that can only be used on certain slots. Have avenues to acquire these for all players be that raiding as in they drop off bosses, or doing daily quests gives you a currency you can spend on these.
So like you have your actual gear, you just do your dailies, buy a sigil and slap an enchant basically on your chestpiece that says “This item now counts towards this set, at these points you will gain these effects.” Maybe make them consistent drops in raid for everyone off certain bosses. Not sure what bosses drop what tier this time around but say like Classic. Golemagg dropped the tier chests. Instead he would drop a sigil you enchant on your current chestpiece that makes it count toward Nightslayer’s set bonuses.
This would make it less grueling on raiders, and casual players who won’t clear raid content outside of LFR can still acquire them for dailies, then when LFR fully unlocks they have a much faster way to get these for their alts. Only problem with this system I can see is that it severely reduces having to repeat the same raid over and over which screws with their precious time played metrics and MAU counts. Good for the players, bad for the shareholders, so Blizzard will side with the shareholders.
I wish blizzard would take these jokes of a thread seriously sometime.
“Due to player complaints we are removing tier pieces from the vault and also removing the gear from players who received vault tier. The creation catalyst will now longer work. Good luck rnging the token from only raid. Enjoy. ”
Tier Bonuses are a bad system. Tier SETS are not. I love tier sets, the fact they have a different look for each class. However, the bonuses are terrible.
People complain about Borrowed Power like Covenant Abilities, but then they scream when Blizzard removed one of the Borrowed Power systems, tier bonuses. You can’t have it both ways - is Borrowed Power bad or good?
They’d be fine if the fights weren’t tuned around them. But they are, because they have to be, otherwise fights would be cakewalks once the raid had them.
This creates issues like Halondrus being way harder than it should be currently, because it’s tuned around double legendaries and people having the 4p. This is even more noticeable in LFR because he’s the 7th boss, but he’s in the first wing.
This is also likely why the WFR has pretty much stalled. BFA/SL WFRs went fast compared to past expansions and a large part of that is because there were no tier bonuses that were being balanced around.
