…whether it’s complaints about the creation catalyst not being available, having to do LFR to obtain tier pieces, tier RNG being awful in the vault or feeling inferior to others because they have their 2/4pc while you don’t…
Please stop! Your complaints are part of the reason tier was removed in the first place and it took so long to come back. Don’t scare Blizzard into removing tier again!
It’s a bad system. If Blizzard’s solution is to make tier gear so powerful that the raid is tuned around it, then they should have increased the availability.
If this is what the future of tier sets looks like, then I don’t care if they decide to remove tier gear again in the future…they have given us a trash system with this iteration.
Some of us like it and would vehemently disagree with your assessment that it’s a “bad system”.
It’s not even the first month through the raid cycle and people are crying that the raid is overtuned because they don’t have tier. Did you honestly expect to be full BiS in 4pc tier by the end of the first month?
Tier should have been available on pvp gear from the vendor or disabled in pvp until creation catalyst is out or pvp gear should have had its own tier effect like it used to
“But its available from pvp” 0/4 tier so far after capping vaults every week through pvp so clearly not
Blizzard: “We have several new systems for tier sets. Do you like RNG? Do you like getting teir for the wrong slot? or slots that compete with your legendary? Or just going 2 months without any because RNGeezus hates you? We have a solution for some of these things, but it’s timegated because we are Blizzard and also…”
Players: “Hello final fantasy vendor, here is 10 totems from boss kills… I would like this item please. Thank you for this simple and straightforward system that allows me to have player agency while also getting what I want with reasonable effort.”
Tier isn’t the problem, acquisition is. That’s been clear in all those threads you’ve dissed. The fact of the matter is blizz could have solved this problem by just making all Tier go through creation catalyst and limit it to one per week or something. But they didn’t; they wanted to force people to raid… because reasons!!! Which is honestly a bad design.
Tier is fantastic, lets be clear about that. Blizzard needs to continue forward with tier sets. And they need to encourage their art department to make very class immersive designs. Also this means that the game design team can experiment with different bonuses that either buff or change the way we play.
Tier used to be accessible via Master Loot, so if one dropped there was excitement and a chance.
Now if you get a piece of terrible, unoptimized loot off the 1st boss, you know for sure that you’re not going to get your allocation of tier to drop off the tier boss.
The gear in SL in it’s entirety is a joke system. From the Great Vault to the return of tier sets.
This whole expansion has honestly just been a sh*tshow - and it’s turned me off from continuing to play, let alone raid.
Guilds were also able to assemble set bonuses so that the team had them and they were working.
With personal loot, individual pieces are scattered around the whole team doing absolutely nothing.
Tier always worked fine and people didn’t feel this kind of angst. There are two things going on here that are causing what issues there are:
As above, forced personal loot is causing tier to be wasted and delaying set bonus implementation.
The previous tier’s bonuses were deactivated. They’ve never done this before. In prior tiers, you had your old set to continue using until you replaced it. This time, we didn’t have our shard bonuses to work with until we replaced them with tier, because Blizzard idiotically decided to just turn them off. Hopefully not a harbinger that they’re going to deactivate every tier set at the end of each tier from now on - which would be equally idiotic.
