I remember back in WoD when a requirement to queue for content were to complete the Proving Grounds up to Silver difficulty (for Heroic Dungeons). A part of those proving grounds actually had players learning to use their entire toolkits.
I forgot what happen to it, but maybe it’s a good compromise for everyone here?
No it doesnt.
If you are a druid just press sunfire every now and then and solar wrath if you are not doing anything. 0 attention needed.
If you are a shaman press flame shock every now and then and press lava burst if you have a proc. if bored press chain lightning
I dont know priest having not really played it and monk and pally have damage in their healing priority casts so I wont bother outlining them.
Its not hard. its like 3 buttons to do decent damage. Im not expecting healers to try and min max dps or anything or change stats for it. Literally just push a few dps buttons sometime.
No they died becuase they were bad. that is no different than if they are casting a heal and wanted to stand in a swirly to greed the rest of the case. Bad play is bad play. doesnt matter what button they were pressing.
Yea people can play however they want and more power to them. But it will be sub optimal play if they aren’t doing whatever they can to help the group.
I do actually use my whole kit. But I will not stand for people trying to force it on everyone. Healers should not be required to DPS. Some of us know how to do it and will do it when we can. Others don’t. Quite frankly no content in the game actually requires it either.
Oh and for the record… our DPS abilities are only there because we demanded them to be returned after blizzard removed them all several expansions back. They gutted us of all Damaging abilities besides the one we got at level 1, with the sole exception of Disc Priests. Blizzard straight up tried to eliminate DPS healing from the game for an entire expansion. Those of us who main healers responded by demanding our offensive skills be returned so that we could actually do quests in our chosen main spec again. That is why they exist, so we can quest.
If it’s once or every now and then, people have no mind helping. The way WoW is structured, to put it in a business sense it would be the same way as your business literally asking you to do 3 peoples’ worth of jobs at the same time every single day. It happens, especially when businesses are short handed, but that would not be somewhere I would be working, then, unless I get a much bigger raise. There is no raise in WoW; therefore no incentive to help out 100% of the time fully every single time. It would much be the same as your boss telling you “You’re not getting a raise, nor a promotion, but I need you to do your job plus the job of this dude and that chick over there, too.” Would you seriously do it? No. If so, you’re a much better person than 98% of the world, but the average person would say “No, that’s not right nor is that fair nor my job.”
If you can’t 1 shot the mobs and boss, then you can’t do content, period. Sorry broski, I can play this game, too. You literally better be 1 shotting mobs or you’re failing, then.
Again I never cared whether you avoided anything that wasn’t a 1 shot.
No, it’s entirely your job to avoid dying. It’s my job to heal any damage you take where you live, not where you die.
Do you really want to keep playing this game? I got literally all day I will sit here and keep throwing nonsensical things like this right at you, too, friend. It’s your fault if we hit enrage, do more damage.
I’m more stubborn than you are, so you won’t be winning this.
Not doing enough damage to 1 shot the boss or mobs is on you, you’re the one who is doing damage. If you 1 shot the boss and mobs, you don’t have to avoid mechanics.
If you can’t 1 shot the boss you’re not doing your job correctly, then. At this point it literally all becomes your fault and your fault for not 1 shotting the boss. Get more damage, 1 shot the boss, then nobody has to worry about mechanics or 1 shots.
I’m a dps in disguise but nobody knows it. I’m sneak mode maximizing my dps, I weave in some heals when there’s nothing to damage so they don’t get suspicious. But I like when the little characters do their funny die animations! LOL!
New healers should be encourage to do it, not being told that is okay to ignore half of their kit. This is not about what you have to do or not, is that there is no logical reason on why you shouldn’t do it, is free damage and the game is about reducing mobs to 0 hp, that is how we win, what ever make that easier and faster is almost always going to be better.
