I just wish people had more sympathy for the DPS disparity between healers. You guys put way too much faith in thinking Sunfire / Moonfire alone being enough to be considered ‘contribution’ in the current M+ meta.
I think the male void/blood elf die animation is one of the funniest. The male draenei animation isn’t as funny but the sound is cackle-inducing!
If I outdps you, YOU should heal ME! Mwahahahaha
So let me get this straight
Healer goes on an insane rant against being expected to help the group and that DPS should play better so they don’t have to do anything
Someone tells them they should be expected to do their best in high level content
The second guy is the one “Telling you how to play” and “raging”?
Raging at what? I’m taking what you wrote and using it on you lol. Telling you if you can’t 1 shot the boss you’re bad at your job is the same as you telling me if I can’t heal you through a 1 shot mechanic I’m bad at mine.
Same thing.
What anger? It’s full playing the reverse card in Uno.
All i have said is You do you and ill do me that’s it …
No it isn’t, because your job is to heal, my job is to do damage per second. I can’t do damage over multiple seconds if it’s dead in one hit.
You can absolutely heal me through damage mechanics though and if you can’t then you’re bad at your job.
But see here is the thing your telling us our job is to dps as well. so if you can tell us what to do he can do the same . Kind of fair game there
WoW is based on the holy trinity and the soul purpose of a healer is to heal and keep members of the party alive, it doesn’t say anywhere in the holy trinity that a healer must do damage, if you need your healer to do damage then that just means the dps in the group arn’t doing there rotations right or don’t have the ilvl needed for the difficulty of the content.
If you die, then you die, but that death is on you for knowing it would kill you in the first place and still standing there.
If you live with 1 hp and then die, then that’s on me. If you get 1 shot, though, that’s on you.
Exactly.
WoW is based on the holy trinity and the soul purpose of a DPS is to DPS and beat the enrage timer, it doesn’t say anywhere in the holy trinity that a DPS must avoid damage, if you need your DPS to avoid damage then that just means the healers in the group aren’t doing there rotations right or don’t have the ilvl needed for the difficulty of the content.
lol I mean most damage can be healed through unless someone stands in a one shot mechanic
This is what I aspire to be https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/AazGDrbwn3MWjyvL#fight=6&type=damage-done&start=3154123&end=3907019
It’s a resto druid who is number 2 damage in LFR
If the boss enrages that’s on you for knowing it would and not doing any DPS to help the group.
If the boss lives on 1% that’s on you for not helping. If we don’t even get close and die to enrage that’s on the DPS.
That’s fine, but if you’re not 1 shotting the boss and you get 1 shot, then you’re also not doing your job correctly.
Of course it wont compete with a hpriest who is doing things right but it will be a lot more damage than many of the healers in this thread are doing. Its also an easy place to start so it doesnt “divide attention” while people get started then as they get better they can try cat weaving and maintaining rake etc.
Literally no reason to not do it except for stubbornness
If you’re not saving me from a one shot then you’re not doing your job correctly.
If you have a damage mitigation ability to use on others, use it. Otherwise you’re just bad.
Just heal through the one shot bro.
I’ll deal enough damage to make up for you not doing any, and you’ll save me from the one shots I need to stand in in order to parse high enough to make up for you not doing anything half the raid.
My job isn’t to be your savior, it’s to be your healer. There’s a difference.
If you have a damage mitigation ability to use on yourself, use it. Otherwise you’re just as bad.
It’s your repair bill (You do you)
First off, there is no such thing as free damage. There is always a cost, be it an opportunity cost, sacrificing a different ability cast, or doing something incredibly stupid and hoping for pays off. When you ask your healer to DPS, most of the time their damage comes at the cost of a heal they could have cast at that moment or them doing something incredibly stupid.
Some of us are more willing to take those risks than others. That isn’t actually something we should encourage new players to do. Those sorts of risks should only be taken when you fully understand your class and know just how big of risks you can take and how to recover from them should it not pay off. If I stop healing to help burn down the last 10% of a bosses HP, I do so knowing that I am putting the party at risk of wiping if this gamble doesn’t pay off and I know I have to return to healing before we cross the point of no return and that wipe becomes a guarantee.
Also, dungeons for new players are a terrible learning environment now days… BfA dungeons are some of the least new player friendly dungeons in the game… back before SL launched new players could learn group mechanics at a steady pace… the earliest dungeons didn’t require much, Tanks just had to hold Afro, DPS just had to DPS, and healers just had to Heal… as they got to higher levels they were introduced to more things they had to deal with… AoE effects that needed to be avoided were introduced, then after they got used to that interrupts were added to their kits and dungeons started to make using them necessary… tanks had to deal with even larger hits and now had defensive CDs to mitigate damage with… healers had to add condition cleansing to their todo list… the old leveling system had a format to it that taught through dungeon mechanics… but now new players get thrown into BFA and expected to know how to do it all from one brief “tutorial dungeon”…
