Stop complaining about having to do damage as a healer... all you have to do is weave in a few spells

No one is here for abuse but I feel like people should be more open to criticism, especially if it’s constructive, and not view everything as abuse.

And in my opinion, letting someone know they are hindering themselves (and the team they are with) by limiting what they use in their toolkit is constructive criticism.

I do think people could be better at making their criticisms actually constructive and not just plain insulting. I think most people understand what you’re saying when it comes to abuse. Some people are just not nice.

Some people are just not receptive to criticism, especially when it’s unsolicited.

Resto Druid switches to cat to get in a few dots or something, boss cleave smashes idiots that don’t know how to get out of the way. Switches back to heal, SECOND CLEAVE!.. Oh well, at least the healer got on the damage charts.

Everyone seems to be terrified of being called abusive or that they are shaming or harassing players when they are just being realistic.

Why is there no stigma over being entitled? The mentality of the no-dps healing crowd is that “I’m going to play this way and you better be okay with it, regardless of whether or not I waste everyone else’s time”.

This is entitlement, plain and simple. Not accepting this mentality is not shaming or harassment in any way. Reality is always best and you don’t need to tiptoe around it.

you can’t heal stupid, if people die due to taking two cleaves in a row the one GCD you had won’t save them

why do you think i dont play a healer at all i mite as well play dps if im expected to do damage makes sense?

Sounds like the solution to that problem is that the DPS should learn how to not stand in cleaves. Even if the Resto Druid wasn’t cat weaving, Druids aren’t exactly the best at panic healing a bunch of people at once. If everyone is dying within the span of one GCD that’s not a problem the healer can fix.

Then how come my blood dk tends to be at the top of healing and DPS? Why my holy pally have abilities to do damage? How come my DPS as a healer often times also heals people? Why my prot pally able to heal others? Why Blizz make most healer DPS abilities mana free?

I’ve been browsing the several threads on this topic that have started popping up the past week, seems to me that most people who are the “no-dps healing crowd” don’t mind the idea of multi-tasking or doing damage in between heals, they just don’t care for the expectation. More specifically, they don’t want a “minimum DPS requirement” or some kind of threshold to meet. And, I get that.

It’s either that or it’s something like they want to be the opposite of a Jack of all trades, master of none. They want to be a specialist in what they do and “just heal”.

The ones that say “If I wanted to DPS, I’d DPS!” I don’t even think they do group content. And if they do it’s LFR for a fast queue. I’m sure someone could disagree or dispel this belief with proof but I’d just ignore it like they ignore their damage spells. :man_shrugging:

right, and that brings us right back to my question: why would somebody bring a “only healing” healer when a “does damage and healing” healer is an option?

That’s kind of how I feel, like if my DPS as healer is expected to be significant, I’m going to instead play a class that’s specialized for that so the output is pretty decent unless I’m utterly failing at my role. If you’re willing to treat healer damage as a true bonus or cherry on top, that’s fine, but DPS is going to be at the bottom of my priority list after keeping people alive, dispelling, dropping interrupts, yoinking people out of bad, etc and as such probably won’t be amazing.

Yeah that’s a good way to put it. “Normal” content (e.g. the stuff that the majority runs, like +0 through +15) should practically always be completable with nothing but the damage output of the 3 DPS (I don’t even think tank damage should be a significant factor) so long as those DPS are trying at all. In that situation if you really need the extra damage boost from non-DPS roles to time the key, either the content is not designed well or the group’s DPS are abysmally bad.

This seems unduly negative so might want to check on that  I don’t see why you’d wish death on anyone.

And I don’t take back what I said about the way healing is. Anyone that’s healed would have noticed damage happens in windows. You want people topped off BEFORE big damage comes up of course. That goes with the concept of keeping health at a buffer. According to your line of thought though you somehow believe damage is going out all the time continuously on every fight. Or at least very frequently. It really doesn’t and the few times it does happen you do in fact focus on topping people up since the next big hit is going to come soon and back to back.

Making all healers play what was essentially the discipline priest niche was not a good change for the game. People who want to play a healer should not be forced into a partial DPS role.

If Blizzard was to make certain talents that lower healing output but increase DPS output, that would be the better middle ground. Then we could deal with the whole “pure” versus “hybrid” thing all over again, like we didn’t try it and have it fall on its face a decade ago, but apparently people want to try again.

they didn’t. they said they wished the lie would die.

Right, exactly. I think everyone here can safely assume that they are talking about the expectation of healer DPS in mythic plus. You can get AOTC as a healer and never be expected to ever use a damage spell. Also you can’t be talking about mythic raid content, because that’s a small subset of the most hardcore player base that’s participating in that level of difficulty.

But yeah, in mythic plus you are not only expected to do damage - you’re required to. In last boss Shrine of the Storm, you alone would have a massive damage buff to kill the adds. In last boss De Other Side you need to do as much damage as possible (with the tank usually) to down the shade. If you aren’t willing to do this, you’re just going to make it harder for everyone else.

Again, THIS ALREADY EXISTS. It just doesn’t exist in M+, and they are mad about it.

It’s in the part “like the players that try to play this way”

Edit: Ah I misread it. Thank you for clarifying

Most server clusters don’t produce a single CE guild.

We are almost 3 months into the tier and 32 US guilds have CE.

Honestly there’s a simple solution to this. If a healer’s job is just to heal, just pull bigger in m+ or take only enough healers to deal with the damage going out in raid and just bring a dps whose job it is to dps. If the healer can’t handle it blame the healer

This is an example of abuse on healers! Healers need to go on a strike and see how you can live without us.

Hard to believe this is true since CE raiders say they are “elite”.

its kind of unfair to make the healer dps then complain when people die because your focused on dpsing.

mite as well dps.
