You realize there is a version of AV between the suck fest that was launch AV and the suck fest that is current AV?
What? I am saying what?
Beg pardon?
I think of what the other team is doing while I am in the BG. I have no desire to get it over with quickly just to âthink differentlyâ.
I honestly have no idea what your point is with this line of attempted logic and misinterpretation of my posts, beyond you simply want a quicker AV and are willing to neuter the experience to get it.
He and many others share the fondness of 1.6 specifically. What is your point?
The argument is here is you think players will want to go fast as it was when the game was live. People on this forum are against this idea of going fast. Because reinforcements are not a thing, and the fact people donât want to go fast, whatâs stopping the majority for making people play the way they want to play? If the majority doesnât want to zerg it wonât happen. This is what people say the Classic player wants.
Again nothing about 1.11 AV means it has to go faster, that was just the majority flexing on the minority at the time. Do you think the majority of Classic players want a fast AV?
I want people to be able to go as fast as the original iterations allowed. It was hurdles, not a sprint.
Again answer the question, do you think the majority of Classic players want a fast AV? Because if not, there is zero reason to believe it will be a zerg fest if the majority doesnât want to play that way.
That the original version of AV was not that good.
It was AV 1.6
And wpvp is not the same nor a substitute for AV. Both where a completely different experience.
I think designing based on the desires of a majority is idiocy, and history has demonstrated such to be true.
Since weâre getting 1.12 why does it matter what AV was in 1.6?
If this is what you feel who cares how many people want old AV than? I think thatâs a ridiculous stance. If the majority doesnât want to zerg in AV it wont happen, which I feel like is the majority of the people who want to play Classic.
Youâre the person who thinks the majority of people who play Classic will approach it the same way people approached when it was live.

Because hope still exists that old AV may come to pass

You should just accept that wall of no is what zyrius is all about and this is what keeps him occupied since his wall came down. He has no interest in classic beyond hoping it fails.
Youâre the person who thinks the majority of people who play Classic will approach it the same way people approached when it was live.
I think the majority of people who truly want an authentic vanilla experience want the older version of AV. Polls have shown that to be the case as well. Sadly, they may very well be in the minority of those playing AV in classic. Regardless of how âpeopleâ in general want to approach it, the older version is less kind to the zerg mentality. I have no issue with people going as fast as they can, but that the game deter such as it did back in the day.
Even if we get 1.12 AV, its not THAT bad. Games lasted 1-2 hours, often going on much longer than thatâŚa much better game than we have on modern WoW. But still, early AV would be best.
AV could easily be finished regardless what iteration you had, the reason why the older ones where better was because the NPCâs hit harder and gear wasnât that strong so you couldnât just zerg.
1.12 allowed you to just Zerg to the last boss and down it in 20 mins or so if you had a good tank, and healer.
People want older version mostly so it doesnât end without any fighting unlike current version where you funnel into a tower and hope you down the boss before the other faction (mostly alliance winning TBH).
its safe to say its 1.12 actually. they mentioned the were going with 1.12 overall because the old data was over written
we have not heard otherwise regarding AV, so yeahâŚ
I wouldnât hold my breath on the original AV model being in Classic. The code is such a mess that updating it would likely be a project of its own.
it absolutely would be a big project. im not against it, but i think its unlikely to happen considering how reluctant they are to mess with this bg
People will play to win.
I hope the winning strategy involves gathering supplies, weakening and gradually killing their raid bosses while protecting ours, and summoning an elemental lord.
That does not mean I will spend my time in Alterac Valley doing those things if the NPCs have been weakened to the point where supplies and the elemental lord are too slow to be relevant to the match.

Yeah. I recall Ghostcrawler saying something like, âWeâre not sure how the original devs made it happen, but they did.â

Yeah yeah, and the knowledge of how to actually code vanilla elements was lost to time, never to be grokked again.
I imagine the devs circled around an iMac Like Hansel and Zoolander pounding on it and making chimp sounds, or breaking out into some Insane Clown Posse lyricisms:
Water, fire, air and dirt, ing AV, how do they work?
And I donât wanna talk to a scientist
Yâall mother lying, and getting me pissed.
Early AV, a mystery on the scale of atlantis.
Look, anything worth doing is worth doing right. After over 10 years of people begging for vanilla it would behoove them to not just phone it in.

I despise this argument.
Itâs like saying âsure, put in LFR, if you donât want it you donât have to use it. If people donât want it then they wonât use it right?â
No, thatâs not how human nature works.
