Still no blue post about RP-PvP servers

I know that. I think a lot of us know that. We’ll primarily be scattering to various PvP realms.
If they ever come, I’ll look at them more like salt in the wound. My friends aren’t going to reroll “cuz”. So, if not at launch, for me, they may as well not bother.

The longer it takes them to answer, the more chance we get an RP-PVP server.

If they’d made their decision, they could easily post a blue saying “No You won’t get one.”

The last thing we have is from Omar in May saying “We’re still reviewing the server lists on that.”

TBH, I would much rather be on a rp-pvp server than just pvp. I’m with you and everyone else on this. But I will assume we won’t have them.

Can you link to that or is that just from the stress test? Because I trust blue posts only.

Their lastest statement on the matter was that they’re still assessing it. I’m not sure why people keep spreading this.

It’s from the Developer Interviews videos.

I can’t remember where, but if you haven’t watched it, it’s a good one.
At the 7:00 mark. Link updated.

It’s 7 minutes in.

I remember watching it, and it gave me hope, honestly. I’m hopeful the stress test gives them the kind of numbers we need to get a server justified.
Even if I can’t get past character creation, I’ll do my due diligence for RP-PvP!

I was watching it but you updated your comment and it made it stop lol. Until there is a blue post saying there will be rp-pvp I will not believe there will be one. I don’t care how many times they say they are assessing it. That is just speculation on part of the devs. They said no originally. The answer is still no. If they change their minds then cool. Until then I don’t want to set myself up for disappointment and neither should anyone else. Feel free to argue for them… just don’t expect it.

If they say no, and then later say they’re considering it later, by definition the answer is now a maybe, not a no.

Well if you like disappointment do you.

Incorrect, Ion literally said they would be listening to the community on the matter. Now he could just say that to be politically correct, but since he said they would hear, we then are justified in creating noise.

Its not Political correctness. Ion is not a politician. He is in the business of making and keeping money.

Also, I never said not to make noise. I am only saying don’t get your hopes up.

I don’t get why there isn’t an RP PvP server option. It could even just be one extra server on the server list and it was something that existed in 2004. Why are RP PvP servers being excluded?

He’s a laywer. Its worse.

They say its too Niche. I see a servers worth of players on the forums wanting it. I think they should do at least one. However, its Blizzard so who knows.

No they didn’t. Unless you provide sources, the last time they spoke about it were in Omar’s interview saying they were considering it, and the only other occurrence of Blizz talking about it is in Ion interview, where they said they would listen to the community. Now stop saying they said no, because they didn’t.

What I’m criticizing here is that since Ion interview, the topic didn’t seem to at least mean anything in Blizzard’s communication plan, it is just as if the topic wasn’t important. While this topic is CENTRAL to the game experience, it’s not like it’s a feature you can dodge.

Take 1.12 AV, you will not spend 100% of your in-game time in AV, even if you are a hardcore PvP player like me. But on the other hand, whatever the type of player you are, the server type will be present at 100% of my game time.
When I will organize events (I will organize RP-PvP campaigns like my guild used to do) I will rely on who’s there to participate.
When I will search for a group, the immersion I will get will depend on the kind of players my server will attract.
When I will do wild PvP, the enemies and allies’s reactions will be deeply tied to the server type.
When my guild and I will claim the Hinterland as home for our warmonger dwarf roleplay, the server type we’re playing on will make it a success or not.

The server type you chose completely defines your game experience in every way. I saw a post on reddit saying that someone on Beta was questing in the barrens and crossed an orc warrior’s path. He asked him for help for a quest. The orc warrior replied “Are you worthy ?” and accepted to help only after a duel. That’s what I want to live.
Imagine that you couldn’t get PvP servers. Do you think WoW would still have the same interrest ? It’s part of immerging yourself into that big, living universe that’s making WoW so cool, that’s why I bought the game in the first place - I didn’t even know what endgame content was back in 2005. My first character was a Night Elf Warrior and I jump-death from Darnasus to Ruth Theran because I didn’t know there was a TP, but I wanted to explore that dangerous world.

Ohh look its the forum police. You can’t tell me what to do mom. You need to learn to read context clues. Have you been around long enough to know a No when you hear it from Blizzard? I have. There is no plan to make rp-pvp servers. In the interview Ion said maybe sometime after classic launches and even then he didn’t seem very confident it would happen. That to me is as good as a no from Blizzard. You can pretend like you are all high and mighty all you want. I will say what I want here and you can’t stop me.

I am getting very tired of people acting like people are trying to spread misinformation on purpose. Maybe try going at them with some tact instead of acting like you are the god of the forums. You attract more flies with honey than vinegar.

WoW! You’re powerful. A real rebel. golfclap
