Still no blue post about RP-PvP servers

I guess we’ll just to wait and see what happens when if any realms see a large drop in population.

Will you be here apologizing when players start crying on these and other forums about “dead realms”?

My intuition tells me we won’t even have to worry about that since I think at this point it’s rather unlikely they will even give us an RP-PvP realm.

But if they do give us one, and it dies down, and people come here to cry about it, I will be happy to accept I was wrong (That doesn’t mean your argumentation path is correct though).

Many of us want that stance to change, so we are vocal about our displeasure about being ignored for absolutely no reason other than “it wasn’t in demand.” It is indeed in demand.

Why would it die? Rp-PvP servers died at a lower rate than the other servers.

There’s a server worth of people that don’t even rp who would play on one specifically to gank rpers for their own amusement. They could probably run 3 rp pvp servers and have them full.

Such is the beauty of an RP-PvP, you can’t really do that on a pure RP one

As someone who started, and met pretty much all my friends on RP-PvP servers 12+ years ago, this is horrible. Killed an insane amount of hype I had for this game pretty quickly. There’s literally 0 reasoning behind it, as it would be more than populated.

Seriously. It was like a balloon deflating when I realized RP-PVP servers were in danger of being cut out. That’s what it would be: Cutting out a piece of what should obviously be part of the whole. C’mon, Blizzard. Give us 1.

Well you must understand that sharding and the new term weren’t in classic and a bunch of things that were in classic are going to be time gated, so the answer is because they want what they want.
Its not really about what we want but what they and the people who are like them want.

And you are right it sucks for us wpvp people because of blizzard destroying it with cross realm etc.
People who work at blizzard now are players of wow, and they have had anti pvp stigma for a long time.

RP-PvP aren’t a solid no, just an unfavorable possible no.
Yes they don’t like to communicate with things they dislike.
We will see in august when they give us information on realms.

Ion really hasn’t been that vocal about it. His initial comment was just an off the cuff response saying RP-PVP was too niche, and then later in a tweet he said they had no philosophical opposition to adding RP-PVP, but wanted to keep the realmlist lean.

I feel players have a better chance to get an official designated RP-PVP server if the players themselves get together and select a PVP server themselves and call it the unofficial RP-PVP server. They can later get Blizzard to make it an official one down the road.

I highly doubt this will happen, as this would leave people who picked a normal PvP server unhappy with this, and perhaps griefing RP events because of this.

The fact that they say they might change their mind AFTER release would actually create dead realms. If you add RP-PvP servers while most hardcore, dedicated players (who will by definition already dedicated on another server) are not willing to reroll on that server, you will effectively split the community and take the risk to create dead realms.

I played from BC to Cata on a RP-PvP server and it was very, very active until end of LK - Cata release because RP-PvP players didn’t like these extensions and left. There’s no reason for this to happen again, as the game and content are known, and people coming to play (especially for wPvP !) will not leave because flying mounts or RDF are killing the game, unlike what happened on live back in the days.

and then later in a tweet he said they had no philosophical opposition to adding RP-PVP, but wanted to keep the realmlist lean.

If you use an Ion translator, it means they have no plans to have RP-PvP servers for launch. If they added one post launch, it would be DoA. Ion has literally been the only one vocal about it. I really wish he would stick to ruining retail. It’s “You think you do but you don’t” all over again.

EU server types posted, unfortunately no mention of RP-PvP.

Basically this plus ten chars.

EU has no RP-PvP servers, confirmed. So there’s your blue post, right above yours.

Eu blue post just went up though a while back there where interview’s of them confirming RP servers just not RP-PVP ones.

I honestly do not understand the mindset the decision makers may have regarding adding in at least 1 RP-PvP server at launch.

How in the heck will they actually know if there is enough player base that will support it if they don’t give us the option of at least 1 of these servers??

I fully see 1, if not 2 RP-PvP servers which would be sustained heavily by the appropriate player base. What’s the worst that could happen? If Blizz somehow believe that the server(s) were failing, they could easily change it into a reg PvP server or merge it.

Not giving the community at least 1 RP-PvP server with the mindset that the community has to somehow prove it wont fail is failed logic in my opinion.

RP-PvP server or I’m not resubscribing.

RP-PvP is apparently wanted over in EU too.,
