A lot of add ons do the same thing. For example cast bars. Spy just happens to pick on rogues. Spy is also easier to counter… just stealth farther away from your target…
Bad players need this crutch like baby’s need their bottle and blanky. This add on provides to much advantage and must be broken.

Completely agree bad rogues who whine and cry for their bottle and bwanky need this add on removed.
Honestly the addon should have never been allowed and should be banned. It’s literally a radar constantly pulsing for blind people to find anyone nearby including stealth. It’s boring and creates bad gameplay.

most people asking for it to be banned have no clue that removing that API call will break every threat meter along with numerous addons that parse the combat log.
just ganked a druid and a frost mage that were partied in stv oh yea spy is really making it hard on rogues

Lol this is what i don’t get. Spy tells me a rogue or druid stealthed, but I don’t know where unless I saw them beforehand. And if I’m seeing someone before he stealthed then the addon did nothing, but reinforce the obvious. Spy hasn’t saved me from a rogue unless I went out of my way to avoid the rogue entirely. The people crying over it just need an excuse for dying in PvP. The addon is their scapegoat. It’s typical of humans. Easier to blame something else than improving at what you want to do.

It’s not about “bad rogues.” Even without the competitive advantage it provides, the main issue is the immersion-breaking factor of the supposedly “stealthy” and “agile” rogue class in an MMO broadcasting their presence with a loud buzzer every time they use their sneaking ability due to people abusing an oversight by Blizzard by putting stealth in the combat log for everyone to see.
It is no different than the oversight by blizzard in allowing people to get on top of the roof in gadgetzan to attack other players without having the guards attack them. These sorts of exploits need to be patched.

Not blizzard’s fault bad rogues can’t figure that out.
Says the person that thinks 2 football fields is “close” lmao.
The addon shares data. So “too close” could be miles away. Say I Stealth in Arathi highlands. Players in wetlands can still detect me, even in their city Menethil Harbor.

See this is the thing you don’t even understand how the add on works. It’s not detecting you at all or maintaining a fix on your position people are seeing the location of the people who detected someone stealth and by the time that someone gets from wetlands to arathi if that information is still valid it is because you are a terrible terrible rogue.
The troll game is strong with this one.
