I’m guessing most of these posts are made by trolls.
Hahahaha. This thread got moved to the Off-Topic forum.
No doubt about that; specifically, it’s the player who is suffering.
I have heard a lot about the game being fun at higher levels … but gosh the road to get there. I don’t think I have it in me.
The game clearly has its audience, though. And given the sparse pickings for big MMORPGs these days it’s probably a good thing it’s around. This genre needs more real competition.
Yoshi made a deal with the devil, he was given a supernaturally good story for his mmo, and fantastically good content in general. But he has to include 90s era cludge every now and then to balance it out.
But really, blizzard could poach squares writing intern, and be better off story wise. Or a single one of squares GM team.
Ahhh just like the people who come here to talk about FF.
playing though the base game I had queue times for 15+ mins as a dps. Healers was instant.
Yeah, insecure people that feel the need to start threads and post on the WoW official forums about how great FF14 is.
I’m sorry you’ve had a crap time in dungeons as a healer. There’s definitely a culture of, particularly at endgame, wall-to-wall pulls (that is, pulling all trash mobs up to a point where the dungeon stops you from progressing, and then aoeing it all down), which can get really annoying/troublesome for new players. It comes from the mindset of “I’m queueing up to get my daily roulette done so I can get my tomestones, so let’s go go go get this done.”
The story picks up from Heavensward onward, so I hope you can find some characters to enjoy! My favorite protagonist characters are Alisaie and G’raha, the latter for reasons I can’t really explain because BIG SPOILERS, and Shadowbringers expac has had some excellently written antagonists.
I’m not sure how to get in touch with you in the game, but I’m Mide Uyagir on Coeurl. Would be happy to help you run things so you don’t have to deal with jerk tanks.
Literally this was a queue I was in over the weekend attempting to try the game

What were you queueing for? Out of curiosity.
If your idea of fun is static rotations, static fights, and inability to customize your classes’ play style, then sure.
From the top of my head I cant remember. I attempted to go as fast as I could at the start to get to heavensword. I did swap to healer shortly after that and had instant queues.
All I am saying is the start of the game is horrible and they should just remove it completely. It gives a horrible taste to new players as the base game is filled with fetch quest. They should just make a nice cutscene that explain what happens up until the first expac.
they sure are fast when we talk about an other game lmao
The classes are only balanced because they’re completely homogenized/lacking in any player choice.
Coming from someone who grew up on OG MMOs, where your character was mostly sandbox, the feeling of having a completely locked in ability set without any player choice sucks.
Balance is there because of it, but not much fun was had.
That looks like an 8-man, so if it was a story dungeon then it must have been Meridianum or Praetorium. Oof!
I agree the ARR MSQ is definitely the weakest of the bunch, though it does lay the groundwork for really important things later on, so it’s worth paying attention to the major story beats. If it involves Ascians, sit up and pay attention and remember for later! xD
IMO, they’d do better to just decouple the MSQ from the required leveling experience. Allow players who reach level 50 to just jump right into Heavensward expac, with a bit of an optional synopsis to read/watch summarizing what they missed. The part that frustrates me the most when leveling alts is that the alt is 56-57 by the time they even arrive in Ishgard.
I appreciate that! I’ve stopped doing queued content for the time being and am just enjoying the game content in the world. Like I said, I’m aiming to complete logs and I’ve almost reached max level with one of the Beast Tribes, so that has been nice. I’ve also done every side quest to clean up the map, and that was a nice feeling.
I may join my friends for the harder content later on, but I really have not liked instances so far exactly because of that rush mentality. And my friends have been doing it, too, and tease me for not knowing mechanics ahead of time, much to my disdain.
Either way, I’ll definitely see about the story once I push myself into continuing the main story content! I really do hope it picks up because it has been a serious drag up to this point. It takes away from getting the rest of my profession jobs to 50 like my Carpenter is, haha.
Doesn’t that kind of makes sense? You’ll just have to create another similar thread in general.
I haven’t leveled new characters through that point in years, but didn’t they just recent revamp the ARR leveling process? Removed a bunch of quests?
Starting in Shadowbringers, you can enjoy the main story-related dungeon content with your Trust the first time you do it (and if you want to again later) so you can enjoy the dungeons at your own pace with your NPC friends.
It’s slower, but IMO doing them the first time with the Trust system is just more immersive.
Shadowbringers has felt more like a classical numbered FF game than any expansion before it.
You only need real life players for the trials and raids, which don’t really have too many cutscenes anyway and the in-battle custscenes are not skippable.
I will give you that. They do seem to let some threads go for a while. Usually political or something else inappropriate, but they catch these ones really fast. It could have been the title of the thread that got it moved so fast. Next time don’t mention FF in the title and I’m sure it’ll last longer in general.
