Star Wars and WoW have the same problem

Why are they insufferable exactly?

Actually funny you say that. Within the first 5 minutes of watching Rise of Skywalker I realized it would be trash. But then in my mind I told myself just view the movie as a comedy instead and it became -immensely- more enjoyable.

The movie was awesome though!

Some people will never be happy.

You’re forgetting the underlying game mechanics design…

I mean, their non game-rendered cinematics? Yeah sure.

The game itself? Absolutely not. Looks like garbage compared to most modern games. It’s just comfortable garbage.

well do you remember george lucas’ style, where he would start off a story in mid-action, it would roll on for a couple minutes, then settle down to establish various threads developing independently of each other. he’d spend a decent amount of time getting the threads going, and then the pace would pick up. he’d hop from one thread to the next in succession, briefly stopping, then hop again and again and again, and eventually back to the main storyline.

example, we’re in the millenium falcon, running from the empire in an asteroid field, now we’re on dagobah, now we’re inside a star destroyer, now we’re back in the millenium falcon, now we’re back on dagobah, now we’re at cloud city, now now now, eventually it slows down to the fight between vader and luke, where it slows down its pace because that is the main story arc - luke and vader.

i think j.j. was trying to mimic that style, but they must’ve had the wrong editor for it.

That’s just your opinion. I think the zones and armor and everything with WoW has always been top notch especially considering the aging engine (that part is true) that they’re using.

Star Wars was dead for me when I saw the first new movie and how goofy they made it. Couldn’t even finish the last one. I’m looking forward to RedLetterMedia’s review more than the movie itself.

Star Wars has more problems than bad writing.

The whole team behind it have destroyed the franchise in the name of making it inclusive. Ironically it’s anything but inclusive now.

If the politically correct police get more of a say at blizzard, things will get alot worse than “bad writing”.

Yeah but A LOT of it can be boiled down to the writing. Inlcuding that political stuff you’re mentioning also goes down to writing and I agree with you. The blame rests squarely on the shoulders of the writers to me though.

For example I feel bad for the actors in a way. Each of them individually were given crap to work with but they’re all great actors and they could have been part of an amazing movie. Their acting is one of the few salvagable things from these new movies.

I wonder how they feel about how their characters turned out. Particularly Boyega, whose character everyone thought was gonna be some elite commando defector but turned out to be a comedic relief janitor character with an equally comedic looking boss/not scary boss as his main enemy.

I just watched ROS and jesus, it was such a desperate attempt to make people like it by bringing stuff back from the original trilogy combined with bad fanfiction

Definitely not recommend it

It’s like it was made by someone who only half understands star wars and just said, “hmm this would be cool” without caring about the established rules and lore.

Very similar to WoW’s current writing team ATM

Yup, jar jar binks the stormtrooper.

I’m guessing the same as mark Hamill feels. He’s trashed the movies multiple times to the media.

People argue that IP protections should last forever. I’d argue that IP protections should be short term to painfully encourage more creative story telling instead of “rest on the laurels” story telling that’s really something out of a recycle bin.

Yeah they both have an annoying section of their fanbase that think they’re shakespearean art critics.

It doesn’t take a critic to see either story and realize the fundamental, drastic flaws

The whole film trilogy suffered from having JJ Abrams as the first Director and George Lucas writing that note about Luke going into exile which JJ Abrams used when he decided that Luke would overshadow Rey and Finn.

If Rian Johnson was the first Director the Film Trilogy would have been stable! He worked with the hand he was dealt and the hand was bad from the start so he showed the logical outcome of said hand perfectly while doing something new unlike JJ Abrams and his habit of playing it safe.

Jar Jar binks was gonna be a sith in secret, just tossin that out!

George Lucas abandoned said plot and now as of Rise of Skywalker the canon story is that the Sith starting from Darth Bane has pretty much been the same guy(Darth Bane) jumping from body to body taking his hosts’ Souls with him.

Most if not all of Bane’s Hosts were his apprentices which he proceeded to steal the Sith title from! Interesting how the Force Priestesses in The Clone Wars showed Yoda the original face of his enemy and didn’t bother to tell him that Bane was jumping from body to body!

Bane even discovered an ancient Sith method to bring himself back from the dead.

Of course if what he told Anakin under the name of Palpatine/Sidious(that only one entity achieved the means of cheating death but together he and Vader might discover the secret) was true then he learned the trick after Revenge of the Sith possibly using the technique he learned from Lord Momin from the Darth Vader Comics to keep his Soul attached to his corpse while his cultists used healing arts to revive the corpse.

Interesting how Bane in the face of Palpatine/Sidious noted that Darth Plagueis specifically as the one who discovered how to keep those he cared about from dying as if it were revolutionary that it was in that specific host that he came up with a way(through Force Drain) to make sure valuable hosts stayed alive!

I honestly hate disney…
