Star Wars and WoW have the same problem

Wish SW and WoW took more notes from the people writing their fan art. So many ideas from the fans that could genuinely make the story better; but is frequently ignored for past ideas that weren’t amazing in the first place. Talking about you JJ abrams an BFA.

Because they make loving these franchises unfun with pointless gatekeeping, endless whining, terrible people skills and vitriol aimed at anyone who dares imply their culpability.

A cheese sandwich is more interesting than Rey to be fair.

Death by Mary Sue is a thing apparently.

Ewok ruined Star Wars long before Jar Jar could have hurt it. After having to accept Ewoks, it was no issue to add Jar Jar and the prequels got a lot more enjoyable.

I need to get this off my chest… Mandalorian is only decent. Seen anime and games that do bounty hunting better…
I also dislike the mandatory furry/animal that must be included in Star Wars…

Yeah, regurgitation is never pleasant.

You know, you’re right that in places the storytelling was pretty decent. But here’s the thing, nothing except for the things I outlined above was CONSISTENTLY good throughout the second trilogy. The acting in particular was sub-par in a lot of places, and the writing was worse. People give Anakin a bad rap in Episode 1, but I’m convinced not a single person could have done a good job with the script he was given.

See one of the things that made the original trilogy so good was how campy and over the top it was, especially with the mysticism behind the force in a high-tech world. But that stuff just doesn’t hold up as well. Someone dropping corny lines doesn’t translate as well when the movie is current. Thankfully they seemed to learn that to a certain degree after the second trilogy. The thing that I’m really glad they did in the new trilogy is return to the idea of the force as this almost magical, spiritual force that to a certain degree is independently sentient. The second trilogy absolutely destroyed the force by making it feel like a source of super powers for combat, don’t even get me started on mydoclorians…

And overly strong female leads whose power comes from the fact they’re female

Kind of like you did in this post?

At least with the use of Mary Sue and such I can spot the people that haven’t seen Rise of Skywalker that explains everything.

I’m female irl and this bothers me even. Leia was a strong female in the original series, she was done right. Rey is a boring Mary Sue, the character made female only to push a PC agenda. Keep her. No thanks.

If the reason she’s op needs to be ‘explained’ later on (cough sylvanas) then it is testament the story is unbelievably hot garbage in the first place

I agree. To Incorporate SJW ideals.

There were hints in both previous movies. The source of their power was the whole mystery of the trilogy; if they had come out and said why she was so powerful there’d be no mystery.

You were never curious about her childhood? Or Kylo’s? Or why Luke feared them?

Also, Luke and Leia and their relationship with Vader wasn’t explained until Return of the Jedi, so…

Exactly. It shows they don’t really know what they’re doing and kind of just making it up as they go.

They had their staff cut and there’s only 3 people, a one armed chimp, and the whole production is being powered by hamsters on wheels all the while they rake in millions?

True. It was better when the stories were untainted by political stuff.

Star Wars went from cult classic to SJW platform or haven’t you noticed the latest film being censored in china for “spoiler alert” certain scenes between 2 of their female characters?

the newer Star wars is simply the soapbox for any political influence instead of being entertainment like the older movies were

Yeah exactly. I remember when the first trailers came out and showed her everyone was hyped. It was only a very tiny group of people upset because there was a female lead.

The dissatisfaction came when the movies actually released and everyone realized the writers figured she didn’t need any character arc or development as long as she was a powerful female character.

Seems to be the EXACT same route the writing team at Blizzard is taking with Sylvanas.

You don’t need to be a writer to appreciate a story line, you just need to be able to read or watch.

Movie critics are not directors or scriptwriters, book critics are not all authors of books, culinary critics are not all chefs, the list suggests that people can have valuable opinions without needing the expertise to create the thing they are critiquing .

I agree.

Both fan bases are insufferable.
