SPY is against TOS. Why are people not getting banned?

One simply records information into a chart, the other seeks to distinguish information and then generate a visual list to give to a player.
The difference is not in what the addon reads, but what it conveys

Weak auras.
DBM/Bigwigs.
Warcraftlogs.
Battleground timers.

All of these addons parse the combat log looking for a trigger .

Why not spy? You dont need to dl spy to watch combat logs for players in the world, or anything else that is listed in the combat log you can create a simple weakaura to do that for you.

Spy (i dont use it, but i might install it just because) watches all combat log entries in the area, not just for rogue stealth protection - maybe people want to use it to go find players to hunt aswell.

You cannot break /target macros.
You cannot stop the combat log showing the name of some thing that did something.
You cannot stop a ui window that keeps track of said players, with range limits on them (either in range or not) and creates a button that fires the /target macro.
If you did it would break every aspect of the rest of the game and how its been played for the last 15 years.

Think of spy as a viable, always running, arena target frames addon.
Think of spy as the DBM of Classic PvP.
Think of spy as just another tool at a players disposal , and if you are a skilled rogue you would already expect the players to know you are there and learn to adapt

People are trying to get an addon banned on the grounds that it automates, gameplay which is against the tos. This is why people keep bringing it up. It does not break the tos.

Without pretending to be any sort of expert, it’s clear that in the world of addons there is considerable monetary profit to be made, otherwise why would so many bother themselves with creating and maintaining these addons?

except there isn’t, it’s well documented that even the most used addons (DBM/Big Wigs/etc) wouldn’t even bring in enough to live off of in donations.

So yeah, this is why it won’t be banned OP. You’d have to ban 90% of the Classic community for using addons using similar ways to parse logs and display info. Hey, if you’re fine with being harassed for the rest of your WoW game time more power to you, OP!

and i use the addon isn’t it funny that i know how it works and why i know your wrong.
the little marks are the horde players notice how the ones in the base are almost all in a weird formation for a defending team to use. plenty of people have already post in here and other thread point how how the only locations it actually gives is the location of the player that spotted not the location of the enemy faction.
