Spoilers: Elune’s Identity and more

Objectively correct.

Eh, I kind of doubt it. If An’she or the Earth Mother are included in this “Elune is a 1st One” business, assuming it’s even legit, I’ll be exceptionally shocked. Tauren lore has always been that unwanted stepchild that mummy and daddy Blizzard often forget to send birthday or Xmas cards to.

If they pull a Solar First One out of thin air rather than use standing lore of a Mysterious Solar Deity that is Elune’s brother in Tauren mythos, then yeah, Blizzard Writing Team is hopeless

I can see it now.

Blizzard: “Elune is the strongest of the first ones.”
“Wait. Isn’t moonlight just reflected sunlight?”
Blizzard: “…not in Azeroth myth.”
“…”

What does real physics have to do with it, I think sometimes people exaggerate.

If Elune is a First one, it doesn’t mean anything about sun or moon or anything else, how this works, but that Elune hid herself symbolically behind the moon to hide her true being.

I mean, Dread has turned this into another “Faction-who has the bigger EGO” bulls*** anyway.

if Elune is a first one, i can live with it. Because it would fit the Lore. I don’t care about the faction, and just because of the faction balance, we have gained by writing the story in all the years of WOW? mostly just more nonsense!

No they didn’t.

Blizzard stated a very long time ago that Elune is the closest thing in the Warcraft universe to a “true God”.

No they didn’t. It could have been entirely random.

It’s not about “randomness”, we already have an origin story for the universe. Once there was a sea of Light, entropy, AKA the Void, began to grow, and their inability to coexist blasted the Universe into existence to separate them.

Well that’s my point. Someone didn’t need to create it, that just happened by the chance interaction of forces.

Who created the sea of light though :man_shrugging:

It’s been a theory of mine since I first started playing in tbc that elune is the creator goddess

It does not need a Creator. Look, I don’t care what you believe IRL, but stop imposing parts of your belief on fantasy because “that’s the way it has to be” or whatever. Science fantasy has sound in space, which is entirely unrealistic.

We can argue for days about the infinite regress that asking “yeah but who created _______” leads to. On another forum. But we’re not doing that here. In WoW, the sea of Light always existed, but it could not exist forever, and the growing Void is the result of that. The universe is the consequence of the interaction of two entirely opposing forces mingling on a cosmic scale.

I don’t believe in anything IRL, but we know it’s possible in fantasy.

You can’t dismiss what Blizzard stated at Blizzcon 2019.

Chronicles is from various perspectives. Who’s perspective, therefore, was retelling the creation of the universe before the Great Dark Beyond even took shape and the Void Lords didn’t exist yet.

I’m not dismissing what Blizzard said. I am dismissing the statement that Creation is a necessity. Whether the First Ones created the Light, and thus the Universe, or whether the First Ones were the first consequence of the beginning of the Universe, the story remains entirely consistent. And until we know for sure which way Blizzard is going to go with, it’s entirely possible that the Light and the Void are, effectively, infinite, and the First Ones were the first consequence and subsequently shaped the rest of the Universe, including the Eternal Ones and the Titans.

They already said months ago that the First Ones made the Light, Void, and everything else.

Source that.

Well this gets recursive. Who created who created that? Ultimately you don’t need a creator, you can just say things happened.

Well that’s still the Titan’s perspective. But they could have gained that information through magic.

Chronicles isn’t just from the perspective of the titans.
And we already know there is a creator, so denying it is entirely pointless

When was that said? Can you give me a quote?

Same question.

Actually we don’t. You’re asserting that we do.

Since I’ve seen you typing and you still haven’t come up with a source, I did the legwork.

" The First Ones are godlike beings[[1]] who shaped the cosmos, including the Titans, the Eternal Ones, the Void, and the Light.[[2]][[3]]"

Note the word “shaped”. It’s the exact word I used, as a matter of fact.

To Shape =/= To Create. Unless Blizzard comes out and directly says “they created everything”, that statement implies changing things that already existed into a form that befit the First Ones, NOT that they created them.

"Any history, even something that is as encyclopedic as Chronicle, is written from a certain point of view. And if you look at the history of Azeroth that was contained in there and even what it talked about in terms of the cosmos and things like that, who’s point of view would that have been from? "

“The Titan’s point of view, and the people who worked for the Titans.”

“But there’s a lot of other perspectives”

#2

[In response to asking where the First Ones are within the Cosmology]

“Who made the Titans? Were the Titans there to begin with? Who created all of what we’re seeing? What is the hierarchy of power in the Warcraft Universe?”

“Is there some higher power above and beyond that?”

[In response to where Anima comes from]

“Where does gravity come from? How do magnets work? These are the questions that puzzle us.”

“Who put all these rules in motion, who was the clockmaker behind it all, there are bigger questions that we’ll continue to delve into over many years to come as we unravel the way the Warcraft Universe is assembled.”

[The Art of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands]
The First Ones who shaped the cosmos knew they needed to protect the Shadowlands from external threats and beyond. Maldraxxus was their answer.

Steve Danuser: They were these mysterious and very powerful beings that sort of architect-ed the framework of the universe of which the Titans, the Pantheon of Death, pantheons of all these different influences are kind of the next layer down from the First Ones, these progenitors of the universe.

<You can’t deny the truth, all you’re doing is disagreeing with it.>
