I don’t understand these claims of DBM and damage meters being broken. Communication with other clients isn’t necessary for either of those to function in general. There may be some more obscure features of them (that I’m not aware of) that would be broken, but they’re not as critical as the main functionality, in my opinion.
Addons only had the range of your chat channel, which wasn’t zone wide. In MC for instance, you can easily be too far away from other raiders that your damage meter is unable to pick up the damage they do. Hell, you can be too far from the tank and that is useful information for things like threat meters.
Which gives the tone that they can selectively break a SINGULAR addon, which we have been talking about. Can they wreck the entire API needed to disable an LFG addon? Sure, but say goodbye to any other addon that needs those portions of the API.
Maybe you should brush up on your reading comprehension instead and then maybe you’d know what this discussion has been about… If Blizzard is going to “break” the LFG addon, they only have so many many routes they can go without destroying a ton of other addons in the process.
I was just using those as an example, but basically, it has a lot to do with synchronization. Damage meters can be wonky and were VERY inaccurate back in the day, so they used to sync them to make everyone’s meters show the right numbers. With the legion client, that might not be such an issue because I think at some point they did something to make the damage logs more accurate, but I’d have to check.
Yeah I really hope they keep the addon working without the autoinvite feature. I don’t understand the hate against players grouping with each through a UI. I was really looking forward to creating groups using it and really being able to sort through potential players.
Without the addon I’ll probably avoid grouping outside of my guild/friends now, just not worth the hassle.
Why do people care about how other people play the game?
Cause it affects their experience. Would you live in a quiet friendly neighborhood or some other where people don’t talk to each other and got shot at every month or so?
So I type “LF DPS, Strat UD”. A couple of deeps whisper me and I decide which to invite.
…or I put “LF DPS, Strat UD” into the LFD Addon. A couple of deeps apply and I decide which to invite.
So the part where they whisper me is what makes or breaks social connections??? Weird but I thought it was how players interacted once they were playing together that did that.
You people are so friggin’ myopic on this subject. We built our friends list in Vanilla by playing with other people. It didn’t matter HOW we came to play together because that wasn’t important.
I made a lot of friends in my weekly UBRS PuG runs. I didn’t make the groups and didn’t have any social interaction with those future friends before the run. Experiencing how people played and how they worked as a team member was all I needed to know whether I wanted them as a Friend or not.
So your argument for lack of reading comprehension is the fact you do nothing but make assumptions? Lol
Your entire rebuttal was paraphrasing parts of what i said to benefit yourself, and using more assumptions.
Entire point was can.
They can.
Anything with enough selective conditions can.
But you know go ahead and work around the point of you ignoring what I said, to make yourself feel better about your linear one track thoughts.
Never once claimed to be included in your discussion about the addon. Never said they couldnt do it another way. Never said breaking it was reasonable.
No wonder you post from a hunter. A simple class for a simple thinker.
