“I cast…
One shot enemy units!”
Oh, well then Tinkers are just Engineers with a fannypack.
Unholy is just a few tweaks away from being a plate caster.
I also don’t get the “class skins” thing. Blizzard has never added a class skin ever. It’s not even a concept in WoW. Blizzard is reluctant to even add more glyphs because they think it’s confusing to PvPers for spells to look different.
So you cant explain it without giving incorrect information.
An unholy paladin is a blackguard.
What?
Turalyon was literally a priest using sword and armor. Uther was a knight who learned to use the Light. We have lore paladins that came from both directions.
And priests most certainly existed before paladins, they were in WC1 while paladins were not until WC2.
I play a Necromancer in D4.
I play an Unholy DK in WoW.
They are not the same.
I kind of just see them as hero classes. Perhaps representative of that norm for certain classes but always going to break the mold in their own ways.
Anduin does strike me as a Priest hero. Thrall as a Shaman. Arthas a Death Knight for a few examples.
But they are protagonists or antagonists within a story and “if it happens in lore it should be playable” is just either asking for too much or asking for the story to be incredibly restricted.
I snorted.
Personally I think there is more then enough differences to have Necromancers be a stand alone class.
If anything Shadowlands (Maldraxxus in particular) proves that Necromancy is completely different then Death Knights.
Maldraxxus Necromancers had unique spells and visuals that used Shadow and Frost schools of magic or a combination of both.
I’d love a traditional Necromancer class but I guess that’s up to Blizzard.
Where does this come from, Warhammer?
False equivalence. A DK can do anything a Necromancer can do. Engineering can’t do anything a class can do.
What’s the difference?
Don’t even bother trolling me.
saying unholy dk is a necromancer is like saying enhance shaman is a battlemage. similar, but not entirely the same thing. both can exist.
It’s an honest question.

People keep saying this, but they don’t explain what makes them different.
Except, you know, be casters. Which is the main thing people want from a necromancer. A death magic using caster.
So when a DK casts Sudden Death at a target and a Skeletal Mage pops up to fight for him for 8 seconds, that’s not being a death magic using caster?
No. DKs are a melee class, not a caster class.
Yeah, those first ones were, except they are heroes, with their own backstory and powers, like some other heroes we have. And lore was not as strong as it would be later. The regular Paladin you played was a Knight upgraded to lvl II, the regular Death Knight was a Knight raised with a Shaman’s soul.
Listen, I’m trying to show someone, with generic words, a straightforward concept. If you’re here to interfere with you own personal fantasy, why don’t you react to that person’s post instead of mine ?
