Sorry, unholy death knights are not necromancers get over it

Title says it all, This reminds me, a ton of years ago, like, a decade ago where people claimed Demon hunters would never be added because “WELL, WE HAVE ROGUES, WE HAVE HUNTERS AND WARLOCKS HAVE META SO THERE IT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO ADD” with out the irony that, we had holy priests and holy paladins in the game, we have frost death knights and frost mages in the game,

we have thematic overlay with some classes, like, Why do shamans get frost shock but Mages don’t? Flash of light and holy light/flash heal are literally the same spell with different names.
and it’s not due to lack of originality it’s just how it is.

Like, are Outlaw rogues and fury warriors the same thing?

Also, “old players” will convince you that Warlock meta was some, big deal thing they took from warlocks when all it was was you turned into a big buff demon from WC3 and then you got to cast shadow bolt harder, it was a cool down, that was it, it belong to demon hunters a long time before some dev decided to give it to DH’s,

Lastly if you just use a little imagination, you can see why necromancers would be different from DK’s or warlocks.
Healers to heal soul and flesh using blood and soul to heal.

Controlling plagues and sickness

and finally reanimating undead.

B-but but Unholy does that already, yes as a plate class as a hand to hand fighter, as a jugganaunt front liner, now, you need the caster backliner.

It could utilize combo points as a caster or even cast physical damage spells which we havent seen yet.

What does a necromancer do then?

Yeah, okay. Very different from Unholy.

I want the death knights from WC2, which were necromancers, that could one shot enemy units.

I just need that one spell.

I don’t get why for some magic people are ok with there being both ranged and melee options and others people just scream bloody murder that there should only ever be ranged or melee but never both.

Where’s the laws saying a necromancer can break someones jaw with their bare hand as well?

Stop discrimination against swole necromancers

Monks have that one. Only works on targets with less HP than you though.

They do the same thing but in cloth and with a staff.

Very very different. Even more different than Tinkers and Engineers are from each other. So we’re talking literal millimeters of space between the two.

People are contrary.

You suggest something on the General Discussion people are going to disagree. For no reason.

Death knights: raise undead minions to their bidding and utilize death magic.

Necromancers: raise undead minions to do their bidding and utilize death magic. But in a dress.

In all seriousness, necromancer fans need to cope with the fact that it isn’t likely your class will be added. The necromancer themes and aesthetic dip into too many existing specs, especially DKs, for it to be added cleanly.

Just live with it, unholy DK using necrolord transmog items is the closest you’ll get.

When I think Necromancer, I think Kel’Thuzad.

Cloth armor, frost spells, skeletons and the like.

DKs are just plated-up beasts, and while there is overlap with necromancers, it’s just not the class fantasy I’m ‘used to’.

Even necromancers in other games tend to be some cloth dude in a robe, only WoW is the one that does it differently lol.

Witch Doctors from Diablo are closer to traditional necromancers than DKs are, to be honest.

Yes I know what monks have but for the WC2 DKs their health pool didn’t matter.

He was a skeleton with chains floating around him

Not much cloth armor

Kel’Thuzad is just a bargain bin Nagash.

Liches are generally teachers for DKs in WoW anyway, I don’t see them as playable anytime soon.

It’s like Shadow Hunters or whatever Vol’jin is- not every class was meant to be playable.

There is 1 Lich DK teacher, so no they’re really not generally teachers for DKs

Here’s the thing though, if there was a glyph that changed warlock curses into diseases and their demons into skeletons you’d basically have the aesthetic your looking for, or close enough (shadow bolt is more necromancer to me than frost)

But in order to make it a class and get those frost spells and summoning spells you would need to dip into other classes to get them.

Look at how warlocks reacted when demon hunters took half their spells. Luxuria (aka mortis) still hasn’t forgiven blizzard for this.

It’s not worth potentially ruining other classes aesthetic and play style just so someone can have an unholy DK but at range. Not to me anyway.

Kel’thuzad as a whole taught Arthas lmao, and Scholomance they teach necromancy as a whole.

Liches throughout WoW teaching people about that stuff, only a few belong to DKs but they do indeed teach.

They’re the smartest among the Scourge.

Yeah we should have real necromancers, like in diablo!

Yeah Warlocks could essentially be “skinned” into being necromancers with less effort than designing a new class that would just cannibalize Warlocks and DKs for all of its abilities.

Imho, Warlocks existing is the biggest reason why we don’t have Necros.

It’d basically be a class skin.
