Bet a necromancer unholy DK would be far better received when they tried to shoehorn frost DK’s into Dual wielding to give the class more “Flavor”.

Using fire magic is not the same thing as specializing in it.
Unholy specializes in necromancy, that is their key identity.
It would be a nice class skin for demo warlocks, though.

What you are asking is why create a new class when they can cram all the abilities into one class? Or better yet, one spec? Well, it will create a new and interesting class. Think Paladins and Priests.

Except Priests are 50% shadow magic, so you couldn’t slot all priest abilities into the Paladin class and vice versa.
What magic school is in a similar position with Necromancer vs DK?

Necromancy isn’t an element like fire or water is.
“Frost walk” would like a word with you about not “Freezing water” lol. They’re just very bad at freezing large amounts of water.
More like 33% actually. But see this is where your bs talk becomes evident, the Necromancer can in fact explore other aspects of the Death Magic stuff and thus create a set of new spells specific to the necromancer’s role as a caster not a melee.
