Something needs to be done about the PVP servers!

Guys we need to move and raise our voice so that Blizzard does something about PVP Servers, we as a community need to unite!

It doesn’t make sense for PVP Servers to be with only one faction, this turned the servers into PVE servers and removed a really cool content that is World PVP, which has been around since the creation of classic and what made PVP servers so special.

Following the Forum I see that this created several problems and dissatisfactions that will certainly influence the reduction and may even reduce the hype of some players for the Wrath of the Lich King Classic…

the problem is being so big that it has affected in a way to destroy one of the game modes that is Role Play, as the PVP servers were destroyed and became PVE with only one faction, many players looking for the content and essence of these servers that lost, the players went to the only server that had both factions, because on this server there could be everything that a PVP server should have of content. In this case it’s Grobbulus, the big problem is that the server is RpPVP and not just PVP, and the players didn’t go there with the intention of participating in the RP…
In the short time I joined the Grobbulus Server, wherever I created a character, several others appeared and were created by other players, and in view of what other players on the Benediction server and on the other dead servers, Grobbulus is the their target, then sooner or later the server will become a mega server or it will collapse

Blizzard you need to see how serious the situation is currently!!! the situation is critical!!!
urgent measures need to be taken, which are not for today or tomorrow, the way things are going, measures have to be taken for yesterday!

(the ideas described below are only illustrative and suggestive)
There are so many things that can be done such as, for example, as the “layers” system already exists, it could Merge the PVP Servers by joining Sulfuras, Benediction and Faerlina for example (leaving 30,000 alliances vs 30,000 horde)…
could do like a reset on the PVP Servers where the characters should choose their servers again (in the case as the PVP were, they could only choose between the PVP), but now with a block where on the server it can only be up to a maximum of 55% of a faction the other 45% must be filled in by the other faction. among other ways that are possible to solve the problem…

the point is that something needs to be done urgently, people cannot close themselves in their little world and think that only they play wow classic or that only Americans play wow classic, there are thousands of players from other countries playing and if you look on the forums , you’ll see Alliance players trapped in Faerlina, horde players trapped in Benediction, alliance players trapped in Sulfuras, and much more…
and don’t give me this talk of “you can transfer your characters” there are people who have 3, 4, 5, 7 characters on the server, and another thing, giving an example here in Brazil, each character transfer is 70$, imagine if you had to pay 70 dollars per character to transfer, having 3, 4, 5, 7 or whatever amount of characters you have…

It does though. Most people don’t actually want to open world pvp, they just want the prestige of being on a pvp server.

This is inevitable, happens every time.

Wait until 25 man ICC comes out in Wrath. That’s when servers really become one sided.

Yep. as there is no incentive to fully pvp. Like say eve. you kill 20 players…a few of them will have some good gear. mostly average the rest. here is the value of lootable on death systems.

also eve has passive sp. you will “level up” so long as you have a skill in the queue training. wow…as fun as pvp can be the xp is in the carebear portion. No carebear, no xp injections there really.

So in wow how do you get better.

pvp gear.

how do I not die in pvp easy lacking pvp gear to reach max level so I can actually get pvp gear.

start with good pve gear that gets you xp to level up for your skills. then acquire the pvp in time.

Whats the best way to get pve gear not getting ganked open world all night?

lopsided server. 90 to 10 odds? Really good chances if the 9 for a more quiet pve night.

haha level 59 looking for a few more strath runs to 60. I come to kill yo…oh crap. we got 5 peeps. there are 45 enemies here. this will end well.

Anything but layering or warmode. Those 2 things and them breaking World Defense and killing off pvp servers to be “Normal server with Warmode option” alerts in legion single handily killed Emerald Dream on retail and it was a community of 10+ years of a dedicated community for wpvp and rivals.

I can speak from experience that those system don’t work. Rivalries are everything and if you add layers or phasing, it just kills it man. I agree with you but what can they do other than merging 2 big servers in a prefect world?(wont happen sadly) but that will just make a mess since you know how most people feel about pvp. Wpvp was rejected and neglected. Arena or Battlegrounds is what you have now in retail and that’s it…The War was removed from Warcraft after Legion and is now world of cuddlecraft.

This is a fallacy. It took several expansion cycles for PvP servers to go 100% one faction, which was fueled by blizzards refusal to do anything about dying low-med pop servers when the game stopped growing in Cata. What’s different this time is blizzard has hardly lifted a finger to do anything about server balance from the beginning of Classic.

The community did unite, who do you think stacked the servers as they are?

If you want a balanced pvp server, come to Grobb.
Don’t bother with the rest.

pvp is a meme, just make all servers pve with a warmode toggle

there won’t be a dominating faction if blizzard merged all US servers together
and the game will be more fun.

Wrong, there are 20k more horde than alliance overall on pvp servers.
40/60

don’t worry about that, EMFH in wrath will fix the problem

Many of the single-faction PVP servers started out with an even split. Your merge idea will follow in those footsteps.

Blizzard has to make it attractive to play the lesser populated faction. If it’s more attractive than playing on the higher populated faction, the game will balance itself out.

So instead of having 3000 horde logged on and 16 alliance logged on, you’d let all alliance in and then let only the first 20 horde in?

The primary reason Blizzard hasn’t done anything is that nobody has thought of a good solution.

The players spoke with their wallets. They paid to move off the servers. Respect player choice.

most players(me included) dont even pvp I dont think emfh will have the impact that you guys think it will in the faction balance

Emfh won’t effect pve players but when blizzard said that there will be no faction change, some Pvpers in horde side started to reroll alliance, i guess we will see what happens in wotlk.

Who cares? It’s happening now and will continue to happen until the end of time.

Why the existing PVP servers that are basically 90+% one faction should be converted to PVE servers to the dismay of the idiots on them.

I read your whole post including your concerns about Grobbulus and have been posting in world PVP threads for a long time, and I don’t even know what to say anymore. Things definitely haven’t gone my way, and I had to find my own solutions… but I tried.

Grobbulus is still a really fun server, but I do get your point about how it is RP PVP, and not everyone respects the RP. What can we as players who love wpvp do though as in what other choices do we have? People can say what they want, but there are players who enjoy wpvp,

My druid is now on a 99% mega server and I don’t like it. I’m only there for my guild and I raid log because that’s all there is to do. To me, it’s the most boring server I’ve ever played on. I like farming to relax. Farming is like finding a tree in a clear-cut forest and I can’t even kill the other farmers. All I can do is instanced content or play the AH, and I want more.

With that being said others seem to enjoy this, probably because they just want to do instanced content. Most of them also should have rolled on PVE servers from day one. So I don’t think they want any more “flavor” in their game.

Yes, these servers should just be labeled PVE at this point.

Anyway, I saw your solution, I get why you suggested it and put a like on your post, but merging won’t happen.

The “best” solution that I’ve seen is a new PVP server with an enforced faction balance of 60%40%. I’d even say tell everyone these 99% servers are turning PVE and give free transfers to this PVP server, with enforced balance in place. Note that this idea gets shot down when it gets suggested with comments about how EVERYONE hates wpvp even though that’s not true.

The second option I’ve heard that could work is CRZ or Warmode, but these are Retail solutions.

Based on what I’ve seen I don’t think either thing will happen. I do get why you made the thread though.

best idea ever.
world pvp is super fun, there is no way to hate such fun.

The thing is though, it really is up to the players to actually do something about it. The people that actually care about a server’s health and community in order to balance out the power between faction vs faction.

On Emerald Dream (RPPvP), we used to be the premier WPvP destination server along with Bleeding Hollow (PvP). Many times over the years we would get mass transfers to our server because they’ve heard about the WPvP and how balanced it was, mostly stories about guilds like Clan Battlehammer and Warsong Battalion. Whenever a large guild that would disrupt the balance of the server, several individuals and guilds would faction transfer in order to re-balance the population or would do so in order to force said transferring guild away or make them strait up quit the game after the server community at large deemed them unfit.

There were times where a transferring guild/community would stick around after integrating into the realm (like SWBRB), and becoming a positive influence over the years or would stick around in order to spite people creating rivalries.

That’s the thing about people I believe that see WPvP from the outside don’t really understand. WPvP for us isn’t about just killing more numbers the the other opponent or completely outnumbering the opponent into submission (unless you’re in a zerg pvp guild then that mentality will fit right in) its about creating rivalries between individuals whether they be IC/OOC, purely in game, or hate each other down to their very being to the point where you want to hunt said person/people constantly.

The 55/45 population limit does sound like the best idea that Blizzard could do in order to help out population balance. Any other time that they’ve dipped their toes into trying to influence population with CRZ, phasing, layering, realm hopping, and the dreaded WARMODE; it has had adverse effect on WPvP communities making it harder and harder to either allow people to randomly run into enemies or hunt them down in general.

All that needs to be done in order to have a positive influence on the WPvP community is to allow us to have our sandbox that we can hunt and hate each other down to our hearts content without having to deal with any systems that hinder us. Killing players from xyz realm means nothing, unless you can create a situation where you’re extremely outnumbered in an engagement and still come out on top, but even then its short lived and means nothing if you can’t run into them again. Its about creating a relationship with said people that understand that if they engage you, it will build on top of past encounters until they end up WANTING to hunt you down as well.

TLDR: Don’t trust Blizzard to do something about it and they shouldn’t be the ones to do something about it, its a realm’s community job to care about their identity.
