Logging out and back in is not a solution to a buggy quest. Thanks for trying but I’ll pass on this assault until Blizz fixes all the issues.
I don’t know if anybody mentioned this yet, but make sure to dismiss your pets and it should be more reliable. (Hunter/DK/lock)

That doesn’t help because I had the same issue on my Paladin.
Sorry to hear that! It helped me and a lot of players in my shard when I suggested it, so I figured it was worth a shot. I wonder if having the assistant from the other quest also messes this up. I had completed that one prior and turned it in and my assistant disappeared, and later I was getting more quest completion points.
I found that, if u can grab purple canisters around the area, u will get some kind of shield (aura); after that, you go and kill the mobs and they will count towards your quest - It might be just a coincidence but that was the only was I was able to complete the assault (I relogged as someone else mentioned in the responses above and it did not work out for me) GL!
I get credit for the quest whenever I kill Mawsworn Challengers. I get zero credit when I kill anything else. Killed 8 challengers for full quest credit.
Killing an elite bugs it and you have to log in and out to reset it. Once i avoided the elites I quickly finished the quest.
Yeah. I had to kill about 30 enemies for this quest to complete. Absolutely absurd. “Putting A Plan Together” is also bugged.
At this point I’m about ready to stop doing assaults until 9.1.5 comes out. Assuming it gets fixed even then. Plenty of 9.0 WQs that were broken at launch are still broken. GG, Blizz. GG.

I haven’t seen it mentioned yet in this thread, but you also have to be the one to land the killing blow. Not an NPC, not a pet, not another player. You.

Hmmm, I think I was getting credit for ones only my group member was hitting. Maybe because the quest shares credit and he got the killing blow to count for both of us? I’m not totally sure, though. I also randomly got credit 1 or 2 times while I was running around in the centurion suit not attacking anything but getting hit by aoe attacks from mobs in combat with friendly NPCs. Sounds like everyone has different success stories. 
I got credit up to 6, then it stopped. I also notice that I was permanently stuck in combat after I stopped getting credit for it. How are so many 6-figure programmers this bad at their job?

Was able to complete this today, nothing new was done just waited a day.
Is this fixed yet? I cant credit for any.
It’s bugged for me and rather sporadic. Some kills will give me credit, others will not.
If you do not get the killing blow, you will not get credit. So every time someone comes by to “Help” they take the credit.
If you have a pet, and they get the kill, you do not get credit.
If Kevin gets the kill, you do not get credit.
45+ kills later and i’m 2 in on this quest.
Blizzard please fix this garbage. Cannot do this as a BM hunter. Kevin gets stacks but does not actually eat the corpse. If it gets to 8 he just won’t eat at all. Kills stolen all the time. Did ANYONE test this garbage quest that is REQUIRED to finish the assault.

They don’t have any testers. The playerbase is the testers.

Killing the Mawsworn Challengers around /way 33 68 worked. Only the Mawsworn Challengers gave me credit consistently.
Frustrating quest.
