Some Problems With The Forums

Arguably, the feedback from the unsatisfied players is the feedback that actually matters THE MOST lol

Brown-nosers and white-knight types saying “game’s great! everything’s fine” don’t really contribute anything. Saying “everything’s great!” promotes the devs just sticking with the same old-same old boring formula(s), not addressing legitimate problem areas, the game losing subs (…as the growing # of unsatisfied players unsub or switch to other games), etc etc

All those players that unsubbed in the giant “unsub wave of summer 2021”?? They mattered, and the devs did make some token changes here and there - but to little, too late. Many of those posters and regulars have never returned, unsatisfied players have their limits on patience/waiting for change

Exactly my point

This is not correct information at all.

And that feedback can be given in game before they leave.

To suggest that they get prioritized based on number of reports though is probably not far fetched.

But yes, I have seen some posts disappear without being greyed out. Harder to say if it was part of a ‘wipe this person out in this thread’ mechanic or not though.

But they already solicit this feedback when you unsubscribe.

Like, you’re given a brief survey and a text box to provide feedback.

This is on top of, again, all of the other forms of providing feedback (pretty much all other social media) that aren’t the official forums.

That’s possible, I’m not sure. I can’t comment on whether there’s a priority for number of.

A tiny text box that you can only write in once every time you unsub and what, reddit? Are not acceptable forms of feedback imo.

Theres no way to comment on current game systems while unsubbed. No way to suggest new ideas when unsubbed that you might not have come up with when quitting.

And like I said before, reddit does not facilitate fair discussion.

Why not, exactly?

See my edited post

Nor do these forums.

The only time I see posts hidden on these forums is when someone is an obvious troll. On reddit, your post can get buried simply for being an unpopular opinion.

Bingo. Constructive criticism is laughed at or ignored. Ranting is flagged to oblivion. Troll posts end up staying up for days, though.

And WoW devs actually read Reddit. That’s the point he’s not getting.

And whats funny is even the posts that are ‘hidden’ still show up at the top of the list when someone makes a comment. On reddit you would have to sort by new

Then the wow devs are making a mistake. But what else is new.

It’s certainly not far-fetched. Discourse has a bunch of different options for notifying moderators of flagged posts and scoring algorithms to prioritize flags. Discourse even has a visibility setting called “review default visibility” that’s intended for high-traffic forums and can be used to suppress lower-scored posts.

There’s a reason why you can flag someone who uses racial derogatory terms in a low-traffic thread and it remains visible for months or even years. I suspect the way Discourse is configured on this site plays into that.

Keep in mind that this forum system has been heavily modified for Blizzard’s use.

You’re not a moderator. You’re just a random person. Why do you think you should have authority to manually flag a post by yourself?
Even giving that power to MVP’s / Trust Level 4 uers would be a bad idea.

Imagine using reddit. Yikes.

One of the most popular websites for a reason, it’s fairly “mainstream” and plenty of normies use it. I use it every day myself, always fresh content/reading material being posted over there

Only cons I can think of are (of course) some of the reddit mods, and the sharp uptick in censorship/“watering down” of the content since 2018 or so

It’s one of the better “time-waster” options imo, there are some very good and informative posts on reddit so at least it’s a “productive” time-waster unlike Facebook/twitter/TikTok/etc that are 110% over-flowing with fluff lol
