Some Problems With The Forums

There’s a couple of issues with the forums I’ve run into far too many times in the past years since I’ve decided to start coming here.

1. Deleting Our Threads

We get a trashbin icon to delete our threads that actually serves no other purpose than to tell us we can’t delete our threads. If it’s useless, remove it.

We click it, a prompt comes up telling us that if we want our thread to be deleted that we should flag it. So for my more useless threads that I’m sick of looking at in my feed [Call me a neat freak if you will] I do just that.

Months later, it’s still there. We don’t even get a flag reason like “Want to delete my own thread”. So what’s the point?

2. Can only flag posts once.

I often find I have to go to tickets to report a player on the forum because flagging an obvious breaking of the ToS/CoC [Like calling someone an innappropriate name.] proves ineffective and weeks later the posts will still be there and the individual dealing with no consequences for their actions.

The replies I get tell me to just “flag it again”. Well I can’t do that because it’s one report per character. If I go back to a post I previously flagged weeks ago, it won’t let me flag it again. So I would have to go to an alt to flag it and attempt a second time to bring it to moderator attention, but alt-flagging posts I’ve heard and seen from people is a punishable rulebreak in and of itself.

So we’re left pretty stranded and rebuffed. A limited timer before we can report the same post again should be in place. Say a week at the most.

3. No private contacts with forum moderators.

We don’t have a ticket system here for forum moderators, and I often see the ticket handlers replying to my tickets regarding forum matters having to get in touch with forum moderators in order to help us a lot of the time.

I was told if there was an issue regarding the forum that I should speak about it on the forum itself here, but what if it’s about the flagging of a blatantly rule-breaking post that was ignored? I’m pretty sure it’s against the ToS/CoC to point people out on the forum like that.

These are just a few things that haven’t made sense to me and that I’ve been perplexed by ever since I decided to be active on the forum. I see it back and forth in my tickets, nonsensical things ticket handlers shouldn’t have to deal with as a result of us simply having no private contacts to support here or things not being handled appropriately.

It’s unfortunate and it should be mended. Who knows how long the forums have been due for a makeover.

You can delete it— but only if no one has posted in it.

I don’t think that’s what the GM told you. Since they don’t moderate the forums, putting tickets into GMs for the forums isn’t going to get you anywhere.

You CANNOT flag a post more than once. If you do, you can get sanctioned for it.

We need better moderation, yes, but no, we should not be allowed to flag more than once.

Nor should we. It would be bogged down with outraged people because someone didn’t like what they said.

This forum system was just implemented before SL.

That’s quite a few years at the least.

And again, GMs don’t moderate the forums. They know nothing about the forum rules. You were given incorrect information and you need to stop putting in tickets for the forums.

This forum is new, it’s not getting replaced. We’ve only had two other versions prior to this in 18 years.

Exactly, they shouldn’t have to speak with forum moderators about forum matters just because we have nobody to contact about such things. [Privately.]

I don’t know where you saw me say that I wanted it replaced.

  1. You have to be subbed to post. This prevents feedback from what id argue are their most important customer base, people that have unsubbed.

That’s one of the best changes they made.

I find it funny the connotations behind this statement.

What’s funny… No Sub = No Posting in exactly how it should be.

I agree with you in part.
I don’t think flagging should be a form of disagreement. Let people dislike without burying a post.
I find it ridiculous that If you disagree with something you want to ERASE it instead of debate it. It’s cowardly.

Just got off a silence recently for telling people a victim mindset isnt healthy :woman_shrugging:

Victim wannabees be out in full force :joy:

Why is it better? Its just an echo chamber where the only people that are able to give feedback are the hopelessly addicted and the people that will like the game no matter what happens to it. Believe it or not, feedback from unsatisfied customers is very useful especially with sub numbers as they are.

Except the problem with that is you’d have majority going “lul blizzard bad! Game dead LUL” for months

Plus you had an opportunity to post your final two cents before you go

We already have that though. From people who are subbed.

because without a sub fee trolling will be quadrupled. moreover, this game specifically has been known to illicit an emotional reaction out of people, and the last thing the forums needs is musing from people who quit years ago but cant move on with their lives.

And they should be disregarded which is why blues don’t post here like they used to anymore

It’s the year 2025, 11.2 is out and it’s absolutely outstanding for a void lord end of expansion content

Someone who quit in BFA/SL: “lul this game is so bad I’m glad I quit cause let me tell you why BFA and SL is bad, so this void lord expansion is also bad”

It has to do with the fact that, like much in Blizzard games now everything requires a bunch of reports to be seen by a mod/GMat all. Which, then falls into the category of… is that mod/GM doing what they’re supposed to which even if the rate is 60% (I’d say that’s high estimate) so it creates the double issue of very few issues being handled, if ever, and usually only in fringe cases of either extreme pettiness or dislike of someone/a specific post.

There is more than enough complaining here already without letting people who don’t even play the game join in. The forums have been a lot better since they started requiring a Sub to post.

Yes there probably would be lots of posts like that but id argue that the feedback is worth some troll posts in the long run. And leaving threads usually get trolled with “can i have your gold” posts and arent really useful for feedback.
