The panda theme was only minor anyway, it was actually a very dark expansion
Correct, which is why classic gets bare minimum of devs and CM’s and what not. At first they where meh on classic. Your right when people showed up in masses they where like can’t let easy money go to waste. Enter boost and deluxe edition and clone cost. I’ve said it multiple times that I admire actiblizz’s business savvy, they are genius’s. Ion could drop a douce take a pic of it put it on the store as a pet and people would buy it.
your provided source is
Because that is what every company does?
im sorry wirtt. that source does not qualify as factual information. this invaldiates every argument you have made thus far as being the ramblings of a fool.
if blizzard doesnt keep their own servers up, the market will flock to other providers
The market would already flock to other providers regardless. If players don’t enjoy Classic because it’s intentionally made bad that’s not going to make them want to play Retail instead
You talk about basic concepts of marketing and economics when you seem to be missing the most basic principles of all just for the sake of your tinfoil hat theory
In Classic you start buying gear at rank two and pretty regularly after that.
So, exactly like honor/ unranked gear now?
Legit so many people didn’t like MoP just because of the pandas… literally the worst reason to hate an expansion. Honestly if it were wrath themed it would have been regarded as potentially the best one far above actual wrath.
Yes, businesses never do market research and just throw out random numbers.
It’s not about knowing exactly how BLIZZARD does it, its about knowing how all businesses work.
Killing classic/tbc classic wouldn’t create more money so they have zero reason to do it, since that’s what they want, money
You under estimate the power of addiction. And the fact it’s hard for people who have invested years into a game and progress/achievements/collections to just drop it and leave… Stockholm’s syndrome is real my friend
They are just fixing the bad thing about TBC, nothing that bad exept the boost obviously there for money.
It’s too easy not to
That’s rather disingenuous. We know that the Classic servers are running on a modified Retail client, meaning it’s not a simple case of “copy/paste the old files”. Especially when in many cases those old files straight up don’t exist
Sure it’s not as complicated as making something completely from the ground up, but it still requires development time and resources that would be better spent just not making them in the first place, if they’re just going to intentionally sabotage them
Certainly would explain why people scream and whine for what may as well just be a stubbed toe demanding attention and accolades for their public “I quit” posts, instead of just…quitting
Market research is only as good as the effort that went into it, and a lot of people straight up don’t put any real effort into their jobs now days.
I am not saying you do this, but look around and estimate how much time is actually wasted in your work day, then look at the slackers you likely have where ever it is you work.
How many people would be out of a job if we all gave 100% honest effort? Probably a lot of people looking for a different job.
making TBC less desireable, so people will funnel back into retail when the 9.1 patch comes out.
For me, they are making TBC less desirable by implementing the worst parts of retail PVP gearing (more rating gated gear). People won’t move on to 9.1 for more of those changes.
So, exactly like honor/ unranked gear now?
Since that sentence is about WoW Classic, which is the game we are playing now, yes, exactly like now. As opposed to any game that isn’t the Classic version of Vanilla WoW.
If players don’t enjoy Classic because it’s intentionally made bad that’s not going to make them want to play Retail instead
blizzard is attempting a psyop. a cultural shift. blizzard with all its money and power seeks to completely change the public opinion towards liking retail gameplay more than classic gameplay. thats what these companies do when they have this much power and this much leverage over the human experience. blizzard owns the monopoly on world of warcraft, the single most successful and widespread massively multiplayer online game that exists in the known universe. you wouldnt for a second hesitate to invest 100% of your money that you made from this game into sculpting your future earnings into higher returns by training your population into liking cash shops and impulse buy pay to win purchases rather than the idea of simply paying a monthly subscription fee and basing that decision to pay that fee on the enjoyability of the game alone. its a huge cultural shift blizzard is trying to pull off here, and very few are able see it.
its a huge cultural shift blizzard is trying to pull off here, and very few are able see it.
It’s not that we don’t “see it”, it’s that most of us don’t care, because this big “culture shift” you’re doomsaying about has already happened, and it’s clear you haven’t been playing video games very long if you think it hasn’t
Here, you dropped your tinfoil hat
It’s not that we don’t “see it”, it’s that most of us don’t care, because this big “culture shift” you’re doomsaying about has already happened
its not your responsibility to care, its your responsibility to demand better from a game company that claims to know what they are doing
TBF, sometimes when you unsub blizzard tells you to come post in the forums why
Here’s all you really need to do.
If you enjoy a game you play it, if you don’t, you don’t.
Simple.
this really all comes back to me saying that the only reason people put up with these changes is that this is still the best shot we have at not having our characters get deleted some day down the line. 100% of subscribers right now are only subscribed because the blizzard tm logo and the official blizzard seal of approval are on their character servers, which gives security and long lasting confidence to those paying.
