Shamans are bad. Here are some objective facts for the copers.
Priests PoM change makes them just flat out a better raid healer at this stage, maybe shamans pull through next phase which chain heal.
Ele shamans are complete dog tied for 2nd last dps. Also they should buff flame shock and lava burst to have same range and benefit from range talents with lightning bolt. Why a boomkin instant cast gets this and does the same damage on a crit as lava burst , is instant cast, requires no cast, no pre req debuff and no mana is the a big middle finger to ele. Re roll boomkin, stay mad.
Enhance, absolute trash dps 2nd to last dps. Windfury is a statistically familiar imbue on era so unless there isn’t some giga dual wield windfury bug, don’t hold your breath , and stormstrike is literally an extra attack every 20 seconds lmfao.
Enhance tank. Serviceable. People cry it’s so OP because they tanked an RFC with their boomer dad friends and high fived each other at the end but the reality is no one cares if the tank has threat by a good amount, or threat by an infinite amount. And warriors have great threat when played by the well-abled , and the highest dps. Enh is second lowest dps tank and once feral passes enh tank dps, bye bye. Because why wouldn’t you bring the tank with leader of the pack and wild strikes.
People will say play what you want. Play how you want. But I feel it’s weaponized ignorance for how the community and the meta of the game and how it’s played.
This is a fact based on the distribution of parses in the data, low performing classes have really noticeable low representations. Look at enhance versus all of the melee.

Shaman is incredibly powerful at baseline in Era.
Don’t get hung up on level 25. Your class is super strong in this game. We know it as a fact.
Its been like this since the beginning. Shaman is F tier except for pvp tank. Even at 40 even at 60. Im not kidding, instead of fighting it for days or years just pick another class. Your going to struggle forever.
So you just don’t play Era. Shaman will be one shotting every other class in the game and performing just fine in PvE soon.

I actually fully agree on this for ele resto , as they are strong.
But enhance is a dog. And likely will continue to be.
I don’t think shamans have ever had dual wield and rockbiter giving direct AP instead of DPS increase to the weapon its enchanted on before. That alone should give enh a huge bump.
+350ish ap from offhand with windfury mainhand should be pretty spooky.
This could be the only interaction I theorized that is strong, also there Could be a bug where if windfury procs in your offhand then your main hand does the swinging and damage without penalty. We won’t know how that interaction behaves.

There are classes out there like Druid. Keep that in mind.
1 rockbiter at 40 will be more ap than 2 at 25 though.
Ima be honest, feel like you doing something wrong. Im having fun on my shaman, even running around with a 2h in pvp.

QAs I stated above, I went to create a orc shaman and this makes the first time (since 2014) I’ve actually created a horde char. One thing I will note is that While others are complaining about the use of mana, I did not see any issue with casting. The mana regeneration rate seems to be faster than normal so I’m wondering if Blizzard did something to make this regeneration faster. So far made it to lev 6 without any issues and seems very strong and just what I expected and can’t wait till the reboot of cataclysm.
Uhm I admit it’s strong on era.
But also I generally argue in favor of buffing enhance look at the majority of my posts. This is the season where forgotten specs get love, not just ret paladins.
I don’t think it’s a big guffaw for me to point out glaring issues of a spec that was bad and is still bad and is on the trajectory to be bad.
For ele it was strong but to be honest, some of the caster insane damage runes added may make them comparably , not as strong.
And to be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if all of the new kits for every class counters the traditional ele shaman of hard casting like a turret ina meta where people have more movement and more burst than before.
Stop saying “but it’s phase 1”, runes were supposed to fix this. They made classic ret a beast. Enhance dps with +10 hit is still lol bad atm.

Having said that, paladin was treated like royalty in P1 of SoD. No other class got as much as Pally.
i agree with most of what the op said, but we do have 1 shining spec that is actually fantastic rn, full ele bfd gear, 16 talents into elemental spec, and go shield mastery/water shield/way of earth, you’re a tank that pulls 100dps single target and never ooms. Its godlike in pvp too, nothing beats it 1v1
Before SoD, “enhancement” shaman was exactly that. They were brought specifically to buff others by providing primarily Windfury Totem and secondarily Strength of Earth, as well as to debuff bosses with Annihilator and Nightfall. This was their niche, because they did bad personal damage and had no mana sustain, but could instead contribute by empowering others on the team.
With Windfury Totem being essentially replaced by Wild Strikes, which is a simpler to manage/apply buff available to both factions, enhancement now doesn’t have much to offer. They can still bring other buffing totems, but they aren’t nearly as impactful as Windfury.
I believe the SoD team intended to bring enhancement dps up much higher to compete with other classes such that they are no longer simply a buff bot, which is why the best buff was distributed to another class across both factions, but so far that intention hasn’t been realized. Hopefully in phase 2 things improve.

Raiding as a ele I find dual wielding is 10000% fixes two weak points. 1. it gives you 10% hit that is huge. 2. people over look this but you can put rockbitter on both main and offhand and use shaman rage you are very unlikely going to run out of mana. The only real bad thing is that lava burst just doesn’t hit hard enough.
