So why is no one talking about the 3,000,000 GDKP bid for TOGC 25 ring on Eu wotlk?

It’s both amusing and sad to see the evolution of the “arguments” defending RMT and pay-to-win:

IT’S NOT HAPPENING
→ Ok, it’s happening, but it’s not widespread
→ Ok, it’s widespread, but it’s not large amounts
→ Ok, it’s large amounts, but it doesn’t affect you
→ Ok, it’s affects you, but it’s ACTUALLY GOOD FOR YOU

what’s so special about this ring that it would go for 3m? like i’d kinda understand a 50/50 cape, a weapon or the Anub/Twins trinkets but not a simple ring.

He over spent for that ring. Stupid…

This seems like the summation that works in my opinion.

Not really RMT has been a thing since launch of vanilla classic and has never been an actual issue, this is just yet another click bait video.

Nothing really it’s just streamers drumming up high bids so they can make click bait content.

There’s nothing new or interesting about it other than the amount.

Doesn’t affect anyone.

It’s also not p2w…

Do you think the only way to get that ring is to pay 3m gold?

Why would I discuss things I am not involved in, like GDKP?

Obviously staged

Definitely looks that way

It was on a steam so it must be true

I’d almost see this…if it was eve. Its not however.

We have $13000 items. More actually based on game money to IRL money conversion rates.

They’d be the rare as hell drop blueprints to make rare as hell super carriers and such.

Here is the deal…eve doesn’t deprecate gear. Like ever. New expac does not make current gear trash.

After a 4/5 year break I swung by. Hopped in a ship (factoring in some balance changes ofc) jsut as good as it was 4/5 years ago. Gear from 4/5 years and like 2 expacs was jsut as good as I left it.

So if player x really wanted to spend big money on a ship they can and will know as long as the game has servers up…that ship and the gear fit on it will always be pretty good.

Also humorous side note. years ago…one of these ships was killed. Valued at time close to $20K actually. It made all the major gaming news sites even.

that $20K ship got dropped. P2w…not 100% valid. that ship could and did die.

One dude coordinated (eg. turned traitor) with others to set up a very nice trap. you know how some 80’s on pvp servers pick off lowbies in vanilla leveling zones?

yeah…the crew who had that ship did that too. We call it dynamite fishing in eve. IN this case the lowbies were bait to a trap. and Boom! went a $20K ship.

nice to see i can leave the forum for 6 months and this guy still spamming every thread about Eve Online

Well yeah. I don’t see p2w in a game where every 6 months gear is basically vendor trash.

I’d call that pay 2 lose really.

The best part is when they traded the gold back after stream ended. Anything for the clickbait money I suppose.

Sadly, It works.

Some have not grasped for streamers…spending money is part of the gig. Businesses…spend money to make money.

Even business cards don’t pay for themselves lol. Spend $400 in cards, and ideally you make that $400 back after a few customers actually use them to call/email lol.

No one is going to watch them go for run 9 on raidfor an item. Unless they add some spice.

Do you have a source on this?

i don’t think so, Gehennas Eu server have many GDKPs that sell items for insane amount of gold and most people in there buy / sell gold because server is filled by various players from across all Europe and Rich Arabs, it’s pretty normal in there to see items go for that high amounts.

because I don’t care?

Doesn’t affect me in the slightest

Disregarding all the problems with inflation and everything else destroyed by botting, the raiding scene has become completely monetized and guilds/pugs are finding it harder to fill raids. Just wait for ICC, pugs will be DOA and most guilds running will be the parse centric people trying to speed clear for clout to sell runs on alts in GDKPs. Kinda sad state the game is in. Very anti-casual, which is ironic considering WoW is a game that built itself by being the most casual friendly MMO…guess the parse/rmt crowd needs low hanging fruit
