Major changes should happen mid expansion. If Blizzard hasn’t fixed the fundamental issues with a particular spec after the first patch of an expansion, they shouldn’t wait multiple years before addressing that spec again.
Players will adjust to this, just like they adjust to a spec being fundamentally broken (by completely avoiding it). If someone liked the old, broken spec and not the new and improved one, they can just reroll.
I do not think they are completely ignored. Ion and others from the dev team have done plenty of interviews saying that changes are still being worked on in the back end and also asked us to be patient when asked about spriest.
The problem is if they rush changes that do not feel good the following will happen
Streamers and Youtubers will post videos of disappointment
Alpha forum posters will post bad reviews
All current wow forum posters will say everything bad under the sun because X Class or Spec got a bad rework
Blizzard will come out and say they are listening to a reaction from players that is all negative.
So it begs the question, why would they ask for abuse by releasing changes that are not even decided upon by the team?
By all means give feedback but I find it hard to fault them when they are updating us frequently on a variety of topics from customization, class changes, torghast, covenants, soul binds etc. all this needs to be worked on and more.
Honestly this is the main reason I care about SL more than I did about BfA. They’re making it super fast to level so I can just play something else when they inevitably make a spec I like suck.
Ok. I have referenced that multiple times. I guess I just don’t take much personal stock in words. I don’t care if Blizzard says “we are working on shaman”. I want to see what they actually do. Blizzard has done a bunch of work on ele sham for example. Still isn’t even in working order if you ask me.
Most people (not saying you) on the forums don’t put a lot of weight in their words, so to me, it just doesn’t seem as something that really matters. Blizzard could come out and say “we are still going to tinker with shaman” and until it actually happens, I wouldn’t trust it.
Ion wasn’t making a joke. He even gave supporting reasons as to why they nerfed the spec into the ground. Even Lore’s face gave it away. Wasn’t a joke.
The reasons they gave were that there shouldn’t be one dps spec for any class preferred in all content; that’s right and that’s how they should design things. They aren’t good at it, but that’s a different problem.
Why people think this is true and keep playing this game I don’t understand.
They must not be following their own rules. Destro is doing that very thing right now. Are we to expect another bad joke soon about destro? Is Ion going to say we don’t want people to play destro? Maybe he’ll also say that about fire mages??
Like I said, they’re bad at balance. If you think they actually randomly decide to make and keep one spec worse than the others for a given class, and will continue to do so - why keep playing?
You don’t need malfeasance when incompetence will do.
They did this to survival hunters. Surv was a very popular spec at the start of WoD and wasn’t the top DPS but still competitive. They nerfed surv so much that it became unplayable. They did this knowing the changes coming in Legion. Blizzard literally dislikes particular specs. The proof is there.
They have very recently made pretty extensive changes to shaman DPS specs.
The changes they made to brewmaster have generally been well received by people playing alpha. I think monks suffer from the bring 1 monk mindset and brewmaster has been overpowered making that the default monk for high end content.
