who promised you that? It wasn’t Blizz.
hey I wanted to apologize and say that there has been simming chatter so the spreadsheets are updated. It’s much closer now and I was wrong. I still stand by my stance that there is favoritism and hypocrisy, and that I won’t feel bad for pointing it out, but you are sound in your argument that the dps is fairly close.
Anyway, can’t be too nice, gotta whine some more.

While Ret is not at the top of the meters relative to other damage specs, they provide stellar raid utility across the course of the entire expansion
Having one spec be stronger than another is not a problem if the class itself is well represented

Not a Goal – Make Retribution competitive with the highest output specs and classes in PvE
252 kings amirite
Warrior would have been fine if druids and paladins weren’t given special treatment buffs first. This is the problem with short sighted custom balance changes. Once the door is open, everyone wants their turn next, and that’s entirely understandable. Why should another class get something it needs and not yours? They either ALL need to be done, or NONE of them. One or the other. Also, any class changes should have been done up front when wrath launched, not cherry picked in different phases throughout wrath’s life. Blizzard acts as if this is a new MMO as they make it all up as they go, even though it’s a rehost of an old game that already had a full history.
Willing to bet they try to host a new wrath after all this is over, now with all the changes in up front like they should have been. It’ll be hilariously insulting, and most of us are going to say “no thanks, you had your chance.”
The classic dev team plays paladins. Reroll paladin to be OP at everything.
They didn’t do that. Ret was already competitive with the highest output classes in PVE, during ICC. They wanted to make them competitive with the bottom of the list for that patch.
This “not a goal” was stated for the phase of content they were buffed in, not for the life of the xpac.
Rets and warriors are about to get a legendary weapon. They are all about to be doing insane damage because of it.
Without it, they are both still middle of the pack, even with the ret glyph.
Warriors cant and wont always play top dps. Ive played hunter since 2004 and can count on 1 hand the number of times it was top dps.
First time around warriors may have been top dps but wrath is solved and bis lists exsist and most raiding guilds follow meta strats.
Chances of the class that was top dps in 2009 being the same in classic is about 10%. Even with hunters getting trap launcher for explosive trap they arent guaranteed a top dps slot in icc. Lots of fights their is alot of moving for bosses and players and usually hunters have a secondary job in some fights.
True. You won’t see any warriors hitting the volleyball up in the vampire fight
Warriors ARE fine lol
And thats part of why i love hunter as my main. I prefer the extra jobs over chasing parses.
This thread shows, it was never about Rets place in the meters, it was always about warriors, another hybrid dps, doing vastly more than ret so that they can take shadowmourne prio.
Ret and feral are both going to be absurd this tier with the buffs they’ve received. Good job Blizzard lmao
also wtf is Tiny Abomination in a Jar? How does Judgment count as a melee attack, not once but twice?
Sims aren’t really an effective means of comparing classes. Some sims are more realistic than others.
And yet with the buff Ret is only going to be 1-2% more than Fury.
Fury didn’t need a buff.
Then the entire concern of this thread doesn’t matter. Ret could end up worse than sims expect and Fury could be better.
I guess you don’t PvP
I think it may be because of how popular the class is, and that they don’t bring enough utility or dmg output to want to stack them in raids.
You are right, i guess you should just quit the game
Just something I would like to reiterate, regarding the TAJ numbers:
The SOV changes only gave us one extra chance to proc per Crusader strike and divine storm. A LARGE portion of the sim DPS that we gained is not from SOV changes in Phase 2, but is from stuff like righteous vengeance and judgment debuff and SoV debuff application not proccing before on the sim. As it should have. Tiny abomination in a jar was always going to be strong, and even without SoV changes would have been considerably strong, likely only a couple hundred DPS worse (currently +1200 DPS).
If you don’t believe me, check the GitHub pull request.
Sim people wanted to wait for ptr confirmation and be conservative and so TAJ always undersimmed by a huge margin and now people have a mistake impression of how strong TAJ is supposed to be.
Fury warriors are still borderline tied for #3 single target damage in ICC Sims, and have probably the best cleave damage.
It does nothing but help me for my raid to do more damage. My stance is purely “I told you so” self gratification - I expect nothing and frankly I don’t want Ret nerfed. But I’m not the type of person to stay quiet when the people in charge refuse to act impartially, make excuses, and mislead people. Happy or unhappy, fun or no fun, I will hold people accountable.
Hunter change is a good change. Similar to the change Warriors got to Shattering throw - QoL.
I don’t think Ferals needed their buff at all - but it is what it is.
Warriors are fine in ICC. If you rolled the class because of the promise of being top in the final phase more fool you. Playing for FoTM is a mugs game.
I agree it is. Good change.
Sure it is - though that argument cuts the same way for Feral Druids who were middle of the pack when they got buffed ;p
I’m not going to whine about Warriors as they aren’t in a bad spot currently. But the adhoc buffs from Blizzard haven’t really improved the game.
Classic has been tough for warriors
