So um, if your goal was to make all healers just QUIT, good job I guess?

Sounds good…Send me an invite when the server comes up.

The game has shifted in such a way that healers can’t always “fix” dps misplays, sort of like how they can’t fix the tank messing up; you heal the unavoidable damage but sometimes if people stand in silly they die.

It’s okay to be at peace with somebody standing in a swirly and dying horribly.

Yeah, I figured just making a point of the irony.
Makes me giggle because youre right…this ‘MMO’ is filled to the brim with self serving sorts who cant be bothered to play FOR the team they signed up to play with…but the second you do something that helps the team in some way other than your designated role, yeah…I can see the tantrum tossing, fit throwing and vote kicking incoming lol.

OMG…yeah.
DPS isnt on my hud…where is he???
Clown went off into some hole somewhere looking for something, I guess…out of my healing range…dies. Lol
and now hes screaming and cussing “WHERE ARE THE HEALS???” in the chat box like a deranged religious nut, lmao.

I finally decided im hanging on the tank like flies on a turd. If you want healed, you better not step 1 foot out of my healing range lol

You aren’t supposed to be able to heal people that stand in bad. You also aren’t supposed to be able to heal tanks that run through the entire dungeon and pull everything like the cops are at the door. In that case, the DPS and tanks have to learn how to play.

LoL, you have just summed up my old 1SG at Drum long time ago.

There’s no such thing as a ‘slow period’ of DPS unless the boss literally stops taking damage for some reason.

Laughs in Bloodlust and Victory.

Here dude, have a snickers. Actually, take two.

As it should be. We do this in FFXIV. It makes better players. My job is not to stop you from being bad. It’s to heal unavoidable damage and that is it.

I stopped group healing back in Cata. Not worth the BS. Now I’m only DPS in groups, but still like to do open world content with my Disc priest.

I have a question for the OP.

Why post on a dps when you’re complaining about healing? You actually said you had 5 raid healers… and post on a rogue? Why?

Been healing since I created this guy in WotLK. STILL healing… NOT B*TCHIN about it either.

I propose an addition to your solution
Mythic + rating should be tied to more than just finishing a certain key on time.

It should also be focused on other factors

DPS

  • Avg number of deaths to avoidable stuff/avg damage taken in dungeons

  • Avg amount of use of interrupts, use of cc, use of personal defensives

  • Number of Rage-quits

  • Number of Butt-Pulls

Tanks

  • avg uptime on Active Mitgation/major defensives

  • avg time maintaining threat on all targets

  • avg pull-pacing

Healers

  • avg amt of avoided dmg in dungeons
  • avg amount of healed damage in dungeons

Maybe this will incentivize players to “get gud?”

If the cops are at the door you ask to see a warrant or tell them to go away.

Running is just silly

Yeah I mean, as an exclusively DPS player, I think DPS players are the main issue too.

There just needs to be a mindset shift. People need to realize that popping defensives, avoiding damage, throwing offheals, etc. feels good. It feels good to actually master your class and bring a wide arsenal of utlity to the group that you readily use. People notice these things.

These same tunnel-DPS players, if they were questing out in the world, would do everything in their power to keep themselves alive. But once they have someone they can blame for dying, they seemingly develop a death wish as their brains reduce to a “practicing on a target dummy” state rather than the same state they are in when actively engaging with the open world.

I’ve been watching this for a while and I swear you can clearly notice when someone is one of those players that uses their target-dummy brain state as soon as they enter a grouped instance.

For some players, the fact they have to be in the group for the key is an affix.

The game needs more mechanics that shame DPS. I want to see mechanics that if not interrupted, PAINT THE DPS all BRIGHT PINK or put huge indicators over their heads, and then give them a DPS debuff, or reduce their movement by 100%. They need to be shamed repeatedly relentlessly and ridiculously. Shame them.

I’m going to play SoD when it comes out and haven’t really bothered with DF since S1, but I hope in the next expansion they give some healing specs more support feeling options even in 5 mans. It was a shame after asking for awhile they gave that to a DPS spec (aug) instead of healers. It makes more sense for at least some specs to be able to contribute to group damage indirectly, expecting all healers to weave in damage is lame.

Resource system wise they also need to ditch mana as a limiting factor for at least some healing specs. Other MMOs have a variety of resources for healers, but WoW has always had all healers on mana. It’s boring and unnecessary to be the only role that can run out of resources for an extended period of time. Even PvP and raiding weren’t always that way, there were plenty of periods where you could go on nearly forever once geared and it was still challenging for healers. Groups could wipe, you could die without running OOM. Arena already had dampening, they didn’t need to hard-nerf healer mana in PvP.

Paladins especially should just have their mana bar removed. They were more fun when they basically sat at 90% mana. Their output is balanced around cooldowns and combo points, they don’t need to be mana-limited.

Monks moving back towards mana-tea is nice, though I’m guessing you can’t quite have the nearly infinite mana you could have when playing around chi and mana tea originally. You ran OOM in PvP in MoP, but only because you fell back to spamming healing spheres if someone was on you to avoid interrupts (and those didn’t generate chi).

Since BFA Blizzard’s approach to making content harder/longer lasting is to nerf healing. Evidently they felt that in Legion healers were so overpowered that they made raids easier than intended.

I have also stopped healing and I’m trying my hand at dps.

Until they make standing in bad (and surviving) a detriment to dps, you won’t get dps dodging bad.

Just make it disarm/silence them for a bit.
