The real crapper is how Vol’jin wasn’t mummified but instead got put into a little jar really giving him a middle finger per troll beliefs. That said I completely agree, it would have been nice if either of them died but hey, gotta force conflict somehow via the villain bat.
Lordaeron was functionally just as much of a Horde loss as Teldrassil was an Alliance loss. The fact that Sylvanas got all sassy about it doesn’t change that.
Like…Hitler commited suicide before Allies could kill him, that doesn’t mean he won WW2.
It was prefictable at bfas announcement that a greater evil would force both sides to unite to survive.
It was obvious when sylvie burned the nelfs tree she would eventually go full villain and we would have another civil war.
Its been a clear rehash of mop and gary this entire time. And nothing out of blizzards mouth is believable.
As we see in 8.2 azshara and nzgoth have been playing us the entire time. Magni is a pawn. Sylvie is involved with dirty dealings as usual. Both fleets get trapped in azsharas domain and have to unite or she’ll kill us all.
The faction war is and has always been a worthless dead end story line. That will always lead into a bigger world ending threat.
I mean its not pointless when we are talking about opinions. You cant wave someones opinion away after asking for it.
This guy gets it I think. Also, sorry he didnt get mummified but it would have probably been more difficult to haul him around. Hes got stuff to do.
this is what i asked. this is the first thing of the paragraph i sent you. i specifically asked you something and you didn’t respond to it and instead said something else.
Yeah I getchu. But lose so many heroes and you get used to it. The bad feeling go numb.
I answered by saying I didnt want him to die at all. Why are you insisting I need to pick some death scene?
Fine. I wanted him to die an old man in his bed surrounded by fat grandchildren. Does that work?
As someone who played Horde from day one and started hating the Horde with the War of Thorns, at this point the Alliance should just wipe out the Horde. Turn the Horde into a few scattered groups struggling to survive. The Horde, especially the Orcs and Forsaken, has proven that all it takes is a few pretty words to whip them into a genocidal frenzy.
Of course they can’t do this due to the nature of the game but that is what should happen.
You got the inverse of Teldrassil with Dazor’alor.
Teldrassil - Unprovoked attack on the city, city destroyed, leaders escaped.
Dazor’alor - Unprovoked attack on the city, city damaged, leader dead.
Rastakhan is someone we have been waiting ages to see, and he had some cool character development before he was killed off. Horde characters get killed off at Game of Thrones speed.
Meanwhile: Grom, dead. Cairne, dead. Vol’jin, dead. Draenosh, dead. Garrosh, dead. Nazgrim, dead (later DKed) Rastakhan, dead.
The only Alliance characters to die have been Varian and Fandral Staghelm, and I guess Benedict but he was never really important other than a single short story and a few quests. I guess Mekkatorque is in like, a cryofreeze or something but he will definitely get mechagnomed in the next patch so he is hardly gone for good.
Losing Teldrassil was a good story piece (Accounting for Elegy and A Good War, everything around it was trash) but it wasn’t really a big deal as far as gameplay goes, anyone wants to can just talk to Zidormi and undo the war of Thorns / battle for Lordaeron damage.
Just an fyi… we never have a decisive victory. Lordaeron blighted, the raid… we not only sacrifice a large amount if troops to draw defenders out but we lost gnome leader and jaina is seriously wounded… and for what? A useless king who failed his ppl already. We didnt even get any land from this invasion. Overall… we havnt win dilly squat
Granted the city isn’t a smoldering crater like teldressil. But at least the trolls army has been crippled. Leaving the horde no reinforcements and loosing ground in all fronts.
If it wasn’t for the events of 8.2 i would say ally would end the war pretty soon.
Why dont Delaryn and Sira make the list? Tirion?
“Troops” are little more than a vaguely referenced resource between NPCs, we will never see the impact of losing troops and neither side will ever run out. Myself, along with roughly 40% of the Horde player base are some of the “Few remaining Blood Elves” so, yeah.
The thing that sucks the most about Dazor’alor is that in a single quest, Alliance undoes the entire Horde war campaign, which was to steal the Abyssal Scepter only to have it instantly stolen back and used against us.
And with faction NPCs, Rastakhan is dead. No more Rastakhan. Gelbin is frozen and like I mentioned will DEFINITELY have a role of some kind in Mechagon, and Jaina getting wounded means nothing. Her character and model are unchanged, she only teleports away with “lore wounds.” It would have been more impactful if she lost an arm. Or maybe a leg since she is the pirate queen now.
Not major characters and the are undead now.
So you didn’t see all the bodies of the troops in the anduin saurfang cinematic? From a story perspectives alliance are suffering huge losses. We won’t see it affect the game. But its still there.
Until the events of the raid alliance was loosing.
Yeah but it is kind of a moot point because it doesn’t effect the gameplay or story. Both armies will always be full enough to fight. Otherwise the Alliance would have won ages ago because the Horde is:
A few tribes of orcs, a single tribe of Tauren, a single tribe of trolls, a single cartel of Goblins, the VERY depleted population of Quel’thalas, and the remaining Undead from Lordaeron.
The Alliance is the entire Kingdom of Stormwind, Kingdom of Gilneas, “kingdom” of kal’dorei, all of the Dwarf clans, the smaller population of Gnomes, and the remaining Draenei (no idea how many, probably close to Belf pop originally)
Not counting the allied races, the Alliance have the Horde absolutely outnumbered in troop power. They say as much in game. Sylvanas mentions that the Horde are stronger and more resilient, but far fewer so victories have to count.
I mean Ive watched many hours of cinematics and cutscenes and most of the horde characters on that list arent even registering so how major were they exactly? One was Thralls advisor and one was from the movie where he drank the blood first… I remember Saurfangs son in ICC, but he wasn’t some noteworthy leader was he? So saying Tirion or Sira werent noteworthy isnt fact.
I remember Cordana and I was fond of her before she got hit with the villain bat and killed too. I think both sides have lost characters, and I know people were upset by Tirions death.
Welcome to Alliance story telling.
We don’t do crap, we always forgive the Horde. And how dare you ask for vengeance or even remotely hold the Horde accountable .
All pretty major…Grom, Cairne, Vol’jin and Rastakhan are all leaders mentioned or featured as early as WC3. Garrosh is a major character, obviously, Draenosh and Nazgrim were both featured in multiple expansions and slowly built up to be important.
Sira…is around but she doesn’t really do too much until Legion where she assigns some quests. Same with Delaryn, she is introduced through a short story and the pre launch event but before that she is a nobody. (great character though)
Tirion is a human, but he is a neutral character. He is associated with the Argent Crusade, not the Alliance.
I guess if zappy boi dies then no worries. Hes some random character that popped up this expansion, hes leader to nothing, and he doesnt even give out quests.
/sigh
