So premades are... actually a problem

If someone genuinely quits PvP after losing a couple random BGs they were never ever going to last in PvP anyway.

Sometimes ya lose, sometimes that loss is a close one that feels fair other times you get stomped and it feels unfair. How would that player react to getting qued into a high rated team in RBGs and getting absolutely owned? Or quing up 3s and facing a counter comp that just handles them? Sometimes you’re the fly somedays you’re the windshield, that’s just the nature of PvP. Being able to take a loss, learn from it, and move on is a key part of any competitive game. If your reaction to a casual unrated BG loss is quitting… then yeah go kill dragons or collect mounts or something, PvP ain’t for you.

And to be clear that’s totally fine. A competitive game mode is certainly not for everyone. A lot of people just want to relax and unwind in their games, there is nothing wrong with that. But don’t expect the game itself to change to cater to your specific desires.

its unrated pvp… who cares? Who even plays this beyond honor farming.

I mean, anyone who quits within a “couple random BGs” probably just doesn’t like WoW.

But if someone can only queue an hour or two at night and has largely just done that for the past 15 years (winning 50% or so, perfectly balanced, thanos etc) and suddenly starts winning… 25% of the time… or losing 4-5 in a row for a few weeks straight, well brother, they ain’t sticking around.

Now to say that’s solely the fault of premades would be disingenuous. Balancing is absolutely bonkers, the skill gap from casual to competitive is miles wider than ever before (eg. 1800 in BFA is about 1400 in DF, maybe lower) and the queue system seems to have lost it’s mind (literally facing randoms where other team has 6 Healers and mine has 0, where my team is down 3-4 players despite 13 min queues, etc). But what premades do now is absolutely increase the pain exponentially.

It’s why you see so many more comments about them than ever before. A hand-picked team of high-skill players playing largely OP specs while on voice comms will obliterate faster than they ever could in previous expansions. Toss in a Ret/Arms/Disc Duelist 3s team on disc together in a random BG and they will be neigh unkillable.

The game has changed. The meta has changed. The skill gap has changed. It’s time for the queue to change or risk alienating even more players. As I said above, Random BGs is the only part of WoW that is strangely being advocated as being mandatory-group-based and it’s just unbelievably backwards and old-world thinking.

You don’t understand it because you don’t try to understand it. I really don’t care if you don’t understand the concept of why people group to have fun. I have 0 control over any decision that is made about this.

I get you have a chip on your shoulder because you were run down by a premade and didn’t have fun and it ruined your experience - that’s pvp. Know what I did when I would constantly get run down by premades? I joined them. Instead of whining, complaining and playing the victim when it was my choice to queue solo in group content

Your solution of me stepping back and not playing in a group because I ruined other people’s gameplay is silly. That’s what people do in every single game, they ruin the other’s experience by winning, by capping a node, running a flag, killing them, dispelling a kill target, healing a kill target. I do it with a group that does all these things reliably where I don’t have to worry about any of them going in with 200k health. I really don’t care if someone else chose not to do that.

It takes 1 second to hit a “quick join” button from your friends list, join someone in a guild or a pvp community. Being 37 or “having a life” doesn’t affect any of this

I landed solo in a few matches with them and assumed (wrongly) that I was in a sync-queue. I know what I’m doing and I know they know what they’re doing, but we couldn’t save it with individual heroics. I defended IBT and our relief hut and they did their thing, but the rest of our pug raid just did crazy stuff and left towers undefended. None of us led, so I guess we’re as much to blame.

Exactly my point. In PvP there will always be a point where you feel bad because you got stomped, whether that be because of healer imbalance, team comp imbalance, gear imbalance, premades, etc.

If you (I don’t mean you Crud specifically, I am saying “you” generally) are a player who quits when faced with one of those scenarios you simply aren’t cut out for a competitive game. So trying to change the game to cater to that player, by removing premades for example, is a silly proposition.

It’d be kinda like a guy who wants to mythic raid but doesn’t like having to do the same boss dozens of times. Would they change the game so it takes less pulls because that guy isn’t having fun and might quit? No, of course not, pulling the same boss over and over and slowly progressing on it is inherent to mythic raiding. Like how getting roflstomped sometimes is an inherent part of PvP.

Couldn’t have said it better myself tbh

When I lose I don’t sit there and whine about it. I try and figure out how to win next time I face those people

I win ~70% of my games solo

In shadowlands I had a 48 game win streak on my prot paladin. Solo.

and ~95%+ with my warrior friend

My solo win rate wouldn’t change much if they removed premades. Premades are actually super easy to beat alone

Get their attention and just drag them away from the objective

Right? Though I doubt they will ever make randoms solo.

I wish they would do one week of Solo queue only so everyone can see how green the grass is.

They do, it’s called solo shuffle

and everyone who complains about premades is a ~1200-1400cr caster player

convinced the only reason they’re losing games is because “my team sucks”

I know you’re mostly clueless but this is the BG forum, so when I talk about things in this forum they usually pertain to Random BGs. Thanks for the input though.

The irony of that typo

And I assure you, I’m a much better bger than you =)

Solo queue participation is nearly double 2v2, 3v3, and RGB combined.

And about 1/3 of what arena was in shadowlands

Not sure what this is. Was that the fever dream we had when everyone was getting sick?

who asked?

Covid lockdown was over before shadowlands came out

March/april and shadowlands came out in late November

Surprised someone of your extreme intellect didn’t check the dates

True. I would just laugh at the people still complaining.

You made a comparison. I made a comparison. Go cry about it.

End of the lockdown and the return to normalcy are two different things. Unemployment didn’t fall back to normal levels until 2022. My company just returned to our pre-covid employment level last month. The gaming industry had a huge boom during and after covid. Season 1 of SL was also the most popular out of all the SL seasons. It’s because 6% of the US was still unemployed.

I don’t know a single person who wasn’t back to working by the end of the year

The people who wanted to go out and do stuff. Did. Shadowlands season one was an absolute blast. That’s why people played it. Not because of a lockdown that happened 8 months prior

Shadowlands season two was also incredible. I remember seeing a million+ active pvpers on check pvp. Are you going to attribute that season to COVID too? Even though it was a year after the major covid scare?

You’re literally discounting an entire good season becuase of a pandemic that happened almost a year prior. Get real man

Shadowlands died in s3/s4 when they made casters good. So many of my friends quit, and the pvp population dwindled.
