Sorry…all I heard was “wah wah wah…wah wah wah wah wah…cant get all that crap into 56 bag slots, thanks for playing”
If it took 2 minutes to port to Stormwind, then Dark Portal, then Kara then it’s your loading screens.
The 18 slots were not for wormhole toys. Those were for all that other junk you want me to carry around because someone decided that having portals is a bad thing. I find the portals to be a convenient way to travel. I don’t have to carry a bunch of junk. I don’t have to try and think of creative ways to get places and I can focus my attention on things that make me enjoy my game play.
I don’t want you to carry that stuff around, those items were just a suggestion!
And I am just suggesting that the game maker and the anti-portal people allow people to play the game their way. If you don’t like portals, don’t use them. Taking something out of the game that probably 99% of the players use on a daily basis is not how you encourage your customers to keep playing your game.
BTW, there is nothing wrong with my loading screens, they were fast. However, since you brought that up, there are people who do have issues with loading screens and can’t afford fast mounts.
I don’t have a problem with portals. I’ve literally said this like 4 times in this thread. I am equally as mad as you guys about Blizzard removing the portals. I am simply listing off items that can get you to other places, and trying to find faster ways. It takes almost 1 minute longer to do things. Times that by 100 runs, yeah you lose like 2 hours but thats over many many runs. You aren’t going to do 100 trips to Caverns or Karazahn all at once. If you do 100+ trips at once thats just not efficient on your part. If you plan to do many many runs at once you should just have characters logged out in front of the instance you are farming. This is how I do Blue proto drake. Rather than spending 10 minutes flying out to the Howling Fjord, I have five 110s that I don’t plan on leveling any time soon just sitting infront of the instance. Every day I just enter the dungeon and do my daily heroic run and log off.
It most certainly does. The longer they can keep you spinning your wheels the longer you count as a “monthly average user” (and since they’re tight lipped on how much activity is required to count for MAU we can only guess). Which is a metric they deliver to their investors. If they can pad things out from say taking 170 hours to 200 hours, then they can be sure you’ll sub for another month. And thus, you count for two months of MAU vs one month of MAU.
So yeah, anything that slows you down increases the likelihood you’ll subscribe for another month. Ergo you’ll count as part of the MAU for longer because they’ve padded content.
Also, about the mount speed thing you mentioned… The character on the PTR that I tested is using 280% speed mount. This is pretty much the default speed everyone has. If someone can’t afford 280% thats on them. I think its like 4k gold to get 280%
Why the Hell should we have to? The easiest way to get around, especially to out-of-the-way places are already in the game. They shouldn’t be removed. Full stop.
We shouldn’t have to jump through hoops and find work-arounds (that’ll get nerfed eventually, thanks for pointing them out in a nice list for Blizzard to use to make changes, by the way), when things like clusters of portals have been available to us for years.
Which is ALL this is all about. Impressing investors who are freaking out right now over layoffs and stock prices.
So they screw US, the PAYING customer not understanding that without us, they have no investors who’ll need impressing because their servers will be offline.
But it isn’t out of the way or jumping through hoops, or any extra steps? You just take a portal from Stormwind, turn your camera to one direction, and fly for about 2 minutes and you are there.
Man, just described most of BFA in one sentence.
In the end, Blizzard is removing the portals. You’re going to either have to deal with spending a few extra minutes in your routine, or you can quit the game. Thats literally your options. Blizzard isn’t going to listen anymore, they don’t care about their fans. They might add them back in the future into a new area in the portal room, but thats it. Its just a chance they will add them back. Find a mage.
I personally love the game, so I’m gonna find a new way to get my alts places and keep playing.
If it helps, y’all can ask me for a portal anytime.
I’ll be the kind of mage that’ll throw 'em out to anyone. Only exception is if I’m in a queue for something but otherwise I’ll be glad to do it.
So, I need to carry up to 25 different items around, wasting a ton of bag space to make up for Blizzard arbitrarily removing Quality of Life improvements? Ignoring the fact that some are locked behind old quest chains a la Jaina’s Locket (Getting a group to do Blood Queen at this point is not worth the time, honestly.) or reputation grinds… to make up for Blizzard arbitrarily removing Quality of Life improvements?!
Do you not see the problem. None of us should have to play these stupid games with people who want to take away convenience and choice. If they want to spend their time in game on flight paths staring at repeating textures they can. I have things to do.
We need more people like you.
Every player in this game has their own habits they have created and enjoy. Why mess with those habits without having any valid reason to. It is not like they are planning to put a lounge in the New Dal portal room or that they can’t afford to build new portals so they have to use the components of all the old portals to do so. It is just change for the sake of change at a time when the player base is grumpy to begin with.
You don’t need to carry anything dude, like what aren’t you getting about me saying these are all just suggestions to the problem Blizzard made? I literally just wanted to make a list of items that can teleport you to different locations in the game, that some players might find interesting or not know about yet.
On some bored moments I am considering putting up a group listing for a portal service. Could be something other mages will do as well. Reminds me of the days I played P99 in EQ. There is a guild literally called “Dial A Ride” full of wizards and druids that just port people around the world when they need it.
I know losing the portals sucks for many folks. But…at least mages can feel somewhat useful again hah. Not to rub it in or anything.
I’ve always been the sort to offer up ports during Holiday events or after world bosses when I’m rolling on my mage. When a mage is offering ports I’ll be polite and try and tip them. Not a huge amount of course, just as a matter of courtesy. Can’t always do that of course. Cross realm and all that.
