Just another race I will not play. Not enough character slots are available to play ever new race or class when made available. If, however a person could make one character and that character could swap between classes I would be more willing to make more characters of different races. Would love if I could multi-profession like you could in Ever Quest. Why I had to create at least 6 alternate characters just so I could cover all crafting professions.
I think they’re neat. Might roll one, might not - it’ll depend on the story we get in TWW and specifically for them as an Allied Race, as well as how their customizations look.
I’ve been trying to cut down on extraneous alts that I make, run around on for a bit, and never touch again, though. So I’d have to be really impressed with Earthen in order to get over that hurdle.
Crystal beards and crystal hairs for Earthen could have fixed some problems.
They could have still used that excuse but kept their old look. Taking away the unique look of earthen to make them more like regular dwarves basically undermines the whole point. Earthen are meant to be titan constructs, in their original form as they were designed to be. How are these ones even earthen at this point? Because they call themselves that? Dwarves are the descendants of earthen who were afflicted by the curse of flesh. And these playable earthen, are earthen who were afflicted by the curse of flesh. It’s a distinction without a difference.
Just be glad they aren’t just regular Dwarves with rock limbs. Mechagnomes weren’t so lucky lol
I think they fit thematically with the expansion if we’re going underground, so I can see why they are there. That being said, they could have easily added any race to help before we go underground.
I was that too, at one point. But you’ll miss out on the dwarves, especially the male ones. I say that as a female Asian, and our people are known to play “beautiful only”.
Give it a try. I personally love the Wildhammer-theme, it fits them so well. And their walking animation on the males is so dominating. Blizzard really sold the theme so much with the dwarves, you really have a sturdy and fierce little bearded man who can dish out massive damage. It’s really a great fantasy.
And sometimes you need to force yourself to play these races to appreciate them. I had the same issue with the Forsaken, my least played race. But the good thing is, if you go past your own belief, then you will actually enjoy the race for what’s it worth. Most of the issues I have come from the transmog, which was a massive issue for Kul Tiran. But it’s very fair to say that every race offers a niche fantasy you don’t get by playing the same races all the time.
Although I struggle to see the “niche” with the regular Draenei (not LFD/Man’aari). Holy and holier.
I’ve tried to like them (and the Tauren) but they are really not my thing. Not everyone likes everything, and that’s ok
Wait, you’re Mortis? Huh, guess you traded undeath for sexy demon lady.
I thought the poor class design with the implementation of the awful new talent system was the peak of the dev’s ineptitude.
Then Rock Dwarves came along and I realized that rock bottom has a subbasement …
Soooo, I’m guessing you aren’t a fan of the Hero talents?
Meh… not even sure what they bring to the game. I am sure some people will like the cosmetics.
I’m kind of looking forward to it. Dwarves and Draenei are my favorite two Alliance races so it’ll be cool to one at least one of those on the Horde side. Plus, I love my “monster” races and I think something made of stone falls into that category.
As for what class… I’m debating between a Hunter and a Paladin. I’m leaning towards paladin if they have a really cool paladin mount but if not, I’ll go back to my default mount farming alt, a Hunter.
There’s a chance I might do both because Blizzard has added quite a few magma-themed pets to the game and it would be fun to have a Earthern with fire colors with fire pets.
Haven’t seen any for the classes I play (which are half the classes I played since the implementation of the new talent system).
I’m not optimistic as I think the talent system revamp has been a complete and utter failure. It’s implemented more complexity to specs that didn’t need it, not done much for talent build diversity, and has exacerbated a never-ending nerf/buff/change cycle … and that was before they had to balance talents around tier sets cause someone at Blizz thought it was a great idea to tie tier to specific talents.
I see nothing that’s been gained over the old “3 talent per line” system we had before this one. Just have more complexity, button bloat, and boring passives that don’t do much for gameplay.
I’ll always welcome more Dwarf-like races.
I have a dwarf warrior, a DiD shaman and a DiD hunter, I really have no interest in another dwarf, rock or otherwise.
I was really hoping we’d see Saberon by now…but alas…
Same here, dude.
It’s my #1 wish for an allied race.
Well golems are made of stone and considered monsters in some cases so with Earthen it tracks.
I have difficulty playing even Worgen due to animations which I deem awkward. fairly sure the Saberon would suffer that fate as well.
Hair instead of rocky protrusions?
Lame, lazy. Pass.
Again, the older models were better.
