True. A lot of people chalk this up to “you’ll be back” but truth is many who do these “I quit” threads do in fact, never return.
True! I mained frost mage for BfA but dropped it in SL. Simply not fun anymore.
like running torghast everyday for 3 years fun fun
true my friends list is proof of that
I unsubbed yesterday and deleted WoW and all my add-ons due to blizzards price gouging as did a lot of people from my guild who were all from the same country. I can assure you the people saying “durrr you will be back” have no idea what they are talking about.
In my case I didn’t unsub because shadowlands is bad, I actually rather enjoyed it and I was subbed for most of BfA which was easily the worst of WoW. So if I’m willing to leave during a good expansion and I stayed during the worst one then why would I want to come back? I’m legit missing out on limited time collectables that I really wanted which only makes me not want to come back even more in the future since I won’t have them.
I dunno why I typed all this but I just wanted to say don’t listen to the clowns who just brush it off as you will be back because sadly many of us won’t be for all different reasons.
I just renewed for 6 months. I had it set to 1 mo. until I could make a decision about SL.
This is excellent advice, I too used to play with a bunch of friends and they all have left. I joined a new guild right before Shadowlands and its been great to get back into the group content like raiding and rated battlegrounds.
Don’t just join any guild from the guild finder, actually talk to a guild leader/officer and find one that meshes with what you want. If you only want to do normal raids and casual low mythic keys, there’s a guild for that.
Gotta make your own groups when this kinda thing happens. Say casual run, but make an ilvl req. You’ll never appease some of the try-hards in WoW, and unless you are one yourself, there’s no point trying.
As someone who plays a lot of FPS, and recently beat Remnant (3rd person shooter similar to Darksouls,) those are difficult, but I feel the difficulty is more in the hands of the player than in WoW. That said, whenever I do a difficult M+ or something in WoW, I get this wave of feeling like I just want a ‘regular difficult’ game with less external factors…like Raider io, ilvl, bad covenant choice, etc…
Yep, similar to above, WoW is addictive, but deep down I drift further away from it more and more when I think of other games. SL is very refreshing thematically, but mechanics and gameplay-wise? As I said…drifting away slowly.
Activision’s method of balancing has got to be on some deep psychological level or something…because it makes little sense to me a lot of the time.
Also, being 100% reliant on RNG and getting screwed over with DPS doesn’t feel great either. Lemme upload a picture of my boss fight stats from a mythic lastnight…
https://imgur.com/a/N324CnY
I had 20% crit at the time of that picture, yet my two top abilities, during that boss fight, crit for… 7.7% and 0%. why were they my top abilities still? It’s my best CD. This also ties into the whole “why not just play another game?” question. Why play a game where my performance is 100% RNG based regardless of my stats?
This is where we diverge most, I think. I chose Night Fae despite it being the worst for resto shamans, yet now it is one of the main reasons I’m enjoying the expansion. Just unlocked the special exploration zone with my mushroom network, and although it’s a cleverly-created single room, the illusion of exploration is quite fun.
All that said, I consider myself to be a decent player, but I don’t let good players dictate how I play. I may be done with WoW myself soon, but while I’m here, I’ll play in a way that’s enjoyable…although I guess it’s disingenuous to not mention my two brothers playing being a big factor.
GL to you in your game choices.
Remnant: From the Ashes…mentioned it earlier, maybe you won’t like it, but you use guns and there’s difficulty settings so I think it’s more forgiving than Dark Souls. Also, if you have 2 friends to play with, it’s 3 player co-op…just don’t join public games; I heard other players can corrupt your save data files. o_O
see ya next week
Great another person with a complex essay on why they no longer play. No one cares dude just unsub…
Nice, thoughtful, well written reply. I appreciate reading posts like this.
Can’t teach a old dog new tricks
How long ago was “back in your day”, I wonder.
Does the reference to spyro the dragon, whatever that is, date you?
Classic WoW is here. If you’re looking for a survival game I enjoy the State of Decay series.
Almost everyone who made Blizzard Blizzard is gone.
Blizzard didn’t sell out, they were sold.
They were owned by Vivendi and Vivendi sold them to Activision.
Blizzard just went from one master that didn’t care about video games so let them do as they please so long as they were profitable, to Bobby who will dismantle a company if it isn’t bringing in hundreds of millions a month every month and growing.
With that mindset you can understand loads of decisions made by Blizzard after LK (when the transaction happened)
I want to argue with this, I just can’t, activision is the type of company you don’t want owning blizzard.
The state of CoD, mind you, I don’t play it but read and see community complaints (typically larger popular players), activision really is for the “maximize profit” priority and it will bite them sooner or later.
I’m still happy with WoW none the less.
I’m thinking of trying bless
On the side
Still playing wow
Anyone tried it?
I applaud you for making it this far. I didn’t even attempt to log in even though I pre-ordered Shadowlands lol.
Been saying this for a while now, but most people here just stomp you down and tell you to get gud.
This game now caters to a completely different player since release, and its not a mmorpg player anymore.
Which is fine, but like you I am just not interested at all the direction the game has gone since Legion and it looks like thats the way it will stay now.
