So I unsubbed today

can I have your gold?

Agreed. Blizzard done rung the FUN out of their game. They should rename it to “Chores-R-Us”.

From what I’m reading, it’s sounds like you should have joined us in Classic. It’s easy to find a good group of guys(and gals), all between 20 and 60 years old, often times with families and work, so they converse on discord and share pictures of fishing or Christmas trees. In general just having a good time. Heck, we even have a boomkin and ret paladin in raid.
I’m not sure if it’s too late to start classic, or if going back in time to that is what you would even want, but BC will come out at some point again.

I have, since end of WOTLK beginning of Cata, wished that the devs would pick a side, casual/elite and just go full force. They’ve been one size fits none since enough players filled up WOW that there became a distinction between casual and elite and I think that goes all the way back to Vanilla. The problem as I see it, is that the elite minority are also content creators and have a lot more sway than their individual subs. They’ve got droves of followers who have bought into their way of thinking about games, and they attract other elite players to WOW.

If Blizz said tomorrow they were going to gear the game for only “serious gamers” they would lose so much money in a very short time that WOW would not be viable because casuals pay for the existence of WOW.

But if they came out and said they were going to openly cater to the casuals, then there would be swift backlash from the elite on many forums and their followers would rise up like the mindless white knights they are to defend against the injustice.

So, WOW will continue to be what its always been, one size fits none. And at some point, we will all stop playing the game, some before others, some only when it shuts down and they realize they suffered through decades of paying to do virtual chores so that some “serious gamers” had a fully fleshed out amusement park.

I’d like to thank you for your mediocrity, without it, I’d never be as successful as I am

While I’m not having nearly as bad a time this expac as you, there’s a lot of this that resonates with me - particularly this:

It may as well be just my guild that exists. There’s no community, no real world. No shared existance. We don’t really care about seeing anyone else in game, we tag the same mobs, we loot the same corpses, we loot the same items…

… Azeroth just isn’t really a world you can get lost in anymore.

I do think this is going to be my last expac… namely because I don’t even dislike WoW. It’s OK. It’s a huge step up from BFA, which was just God Awful… but like you said, it just isn’t really scratching any itches for me anymore. It’s just all right. And I think once I get bored this time around, I think it’ll be time to say good bye for keeps.
