I enjoyed the game for as long as I did which was 3 weeks. I just became more profoundly unhappy with this character every time I logged in. I think there’s a few things I didn’t realize until I got here about what endgame content looks like:
-
End Game content feels more like a reaction game than most modern RPGs. I kept saying to myself that ya know what I can keep going forward. From 1-60 I didn’t have any meters didn’t have any major necessary add-ons. Then I started accumulating them once I got to 60. I started trying to figure out how to min max my ice mage and then I was going to do a M6 today and was told you need raider io and need to upload to Warcraft logs. I found out that 700 is the average for groups for raider io—my score is like 270s. I started saying well I need to get that up maybe? But then I’m reminded of the difficulty of the content and the mechanics of the fights and I said this really does feel like I’m playing. Dark Souls or an FPS and the older I get the less and less I want to play those games. I’m not really great with coordination as I’m a clutz and my reaction time isn’t great so the age old question comes into play: why do something you don’t enjoy and aren’t good at?
-
MMOs don’t scratch an itch anymore not since all my real life friends stopped playing them. I think the social aspect of the game to me is gone. So I’m not really interested in doing any group content seriously because risk of failure is probable and again like I said earlier I really hate fast paced reaction games. Without those ties playing these games just feels empty and what winds up happening is is start saying to myself why am I doing this? And when that question comes up it’s basically over for most people I think.

Playing a spec that’s hard isn’t fun. Playing a spec that’s hard but doesn’t feel rewarding isn’t fun at all. Maybe in the minority here but man I hated playing frost mage after I got out of M0. All through the game I loved it but once M0 was done and what I could do next was higher stuff playing a frost mage outside of trash pulls was hyper depressing. It’s a game of trying not to be in 3rd, which I probably was going to be anyways because again I wasn’t very good but it still stunk knowing that essentially I’d have to change specs/cov to go the optimal route to play. Which to me seems very counterintuitive in any RPG now a days especially in Western RPGs where your gameplay style doesn’t really seem to matter all that much. I’m thinking of like the Fallout Series or Skyrim where essentially playing anything is good once you get to a certain level and it’s not feeling tedious. This type of play reminded me of MOBAs meta and optimal builds.

Feeling like there’s nothing worth doing on my main. That’s where I’m ending this. Maybe in about a couple of months there’s more story to grind out for hours. But as I stated before I just felt like there’s nothing worth doing on that main at this time. I guess I got bored.
This is one last thing that’s confusing me. Why can’t there be Mythic dungeon finders? Literally how hard is it for the game to parse your average DPS, HPS, and actions cast per second then combine them into a ranking based off completion time and gear level? Then just pair you up with players near your rank? Literally every matchmaking software does that today? I was just thinking about that as I left my last group. Why put the onus on the player to be matchmaker? I don’t think saying because it’s an MMO is a reason either, virtually every game that has a multiplayer element to it is a mmo now.
Anyways the leveling was the fun part I’m going back to survival games. If anyone has a Rec for a slower paced mmo where I’m not jamming buttons every second that’s ideal! Good luck, stay safe, and enjoy your holidays.

7 days to die.
I asked about a fantasy type survival game like minecraft that’s not minecraft. I actually love minecraft. It’s a great game. But I like a little more maturity to it.

We aren’t at end game so this is a moot issue… The expc is still new.

True about the social aspect, not much content to really feel like you are a group really… I mean you can do quests, dungeons, etc. together, but the group/friend part feeling is lacking, and yes many have quite.

Playing a spec that isn’t fun. Um… So switch. No one is making you play this class and spec. Find a class/spec you enjoy and have fun. You can do a trial and see how something feels. You start at lvl 48 and it will lock you at 50, but you have 2 levels to “test” stuff. You can then purchase an unlock or level up. Takes maybe 3-4 days of semi casual playing to level up to 50. Less time if you have lots of time to play. What, about 12 hours or so? Easy peasy.

Well, there is quite a bit to do, but that doesn’t mean you enjoy it or wish to do it. Try goofing around with an alt(s) and see if you find something more fun.
The expansion is still in the very early stages, and Blizz dribbles new content in so we have to just sit here sometimes and wait…
You might like Elder Scrolls Online, I love that game. When I’m bored/tired of WoW it’s where I go. An MMOP that allows you to play however you want to play. Solo, or grouping with friends or others… Different play styles, different characters, different content.

Now people are complaining that their classes are too complicated? Didn’t we just get out of the classes are too easy expansion?

Never said too complicated just said I fun. Frost mage isn’t a great spec right now.

Mythic dungeon community at large is pretty toxic. I ran +17’s in BFA. Well before out gearing the content. Most people with high io scores wait until they have really strong raiding gear and only do mythic+ with their guildies.
IT doesn’t help that blizzard keeps throwing in an insane amount of mechanics. It’s truly frustrating that every mechanic is unique from dungeon to dungeon and you have to remember 10000 different things.
Dungeon design was better in BFA, they had mechanics that were reasonable. I’m not sure that’s the case with shadowlands though. IT was almost certainly a step too far.

Yes, people complained about to much class pruning and now they complain about to many abilities.
It’s impossible to make all WoW players happy at the same time.

Precisely why Blizzard shouldn’t listen to the vocal minority of GD. It’s contradictory, confused, and usually wrong.

If you sell all your stuff, you’ll have more to donate to me.
Elder Scrolls online is a bit slower paced and less min/max than WoW. If you liked the leveling in WoW, ESO’s leveling experience blows it away.
Good luck m8.

I never really played it I only got it this week. So I’m excited to try it out.
I really really want a minecraft esque game but with a fantasy setting and same type of build your home mechanics but with monsters hunting you not just infected zombies or cannibals
How do you only have 16k on your main? My alt on a server i don’t even play on has 52k rn.

Repairs, spent a lot on heritage, and buying dumb things. Is this a competition or something?

I would not recommend eso if you are looking for slow. Weaving is essentially twice as fast as wow combat
