So I just did my first Mythic+ and Understand why Raider.IO is a thing

Sure the addon is making it hard for me to get in any groups… but I tried the suggest “Make your own group” and people were literally outright ignore mechanics and dying to the most silly things.

It was +2 Atal. 2 people died to rezan for not breaking LOS and then not running when marked… and then on the next boss I was the only one hitting the reanimation totems and the tank just left cause it was literally silly.

It is an important tool if you intend to pug. If you run with your friends however it is totally useless.

You put your key up in LFG.

Thirty DPS sign up within a minute or two. Half have high ilvls but have never done a high key, or perhaps never done that particular dungeon at a high level, or perhaps never time their keys.

Do you really not want to know which half are going to almost assuredly ruin your run?

That’s the benefit of RaiderIO.

When I put my 20+ keys in queue I regularly get people applying with 480 ilvl but who have never done higher than a 10… I thank god for r io lol

lol I had a similar experience in atal. In the span of the one totem boss fight I had 3 ppl leave that got replaced. I basically solod the boss and did the totems myself. M0’s are funny.

Yeah just had a tank that didn’t know what to do against Necrotic. Never again.

Did a +2 on my prot pally.
I was 2nd on the damage meters.
We ran out of time on the stone, but still cleared.
The one Demon hunter was doing 4.5k to 5k dps.

I did a +2 on my warrior and people did not soak on the 3rd boss in ToS.

As annoying as it is, in a world where ilvl is not an indicator of skill whatsoever, it’s basically necessary if you want a decent PUG experience.

I had several groups on alliance side completely botch a +2 shrine before even the second boss. First group pulled without a person in tank spec because the guy who queued tank decided he didn’t actually want to, but elected to keep that to himself. When he ran out to “re-spec” he just left the group. Second group had 2 ranged DPS completely ignore mechanics and they just soaked every single mechanic, so the healer just rage quit. Don’t blame him either. +2’s are hell, it gets better the higher you go but it’s tough to go higher if +'2 fail, since your IO stays low.

I understand why it’s a thing, but I also wish there was more incentive for people to make friends/join guilds and run with more consistent groups instead of making PUG tools. But I get it.

Yeah, low key pugging. Think of it as E low hell in eSports mentality.

If people are new, it’s better to explain it to them.

For all low keys there’s plenty of time to talk before doing something. Heck my first +14 we still just made the time for it - was harder then since it was near the start of 8.3.

It is fair to say that a +2 is a big transition from heroic because where previously taking on a mob pack was not a big deal, now it’s better to start to shoot for getting that 100% and try not to go much higher.

(Still want to raise my key records for siege, atal and UR up to 5 before this season is done).

Nope if you don’t know mechanics in a +2 I’ll kick you out.
You should’ve done mechs in heroics sorry kid.

Oh I’d do the same if it happens over and over.

At the beginning of this season I had a tank post a method dungeon tool before start. Didn’t follow it at all and some how made it to the end of Shrine with 70% trash. Haven’t pugged since.

I have to wonder if it’s a case of either people don’t know the fights and mechanics or that they just choose to ignore them and expect the healer and Tank to carry the day. As someone who mostly heals, I’ve seen this happen at all levels, though. I want to say, however, that I’ve had my share of really good groups too.

Did you explain what necrotic does and what they should do? If so, did they do it?

If no to the first, you contribute to the pug problem. If no to the second, that tank can gtfo.

Funny story, autocorrecting no to yes is a hilarious issue.

I think it’s a bit of both.

Here you go sir:

Thanks man, I eventually got a decent group to run 2 +2s then one +5.

But that first dungeon… jesus man

I pugged heroics back when WOD came out and it was really hard and everyone complained especially about pugs, but it was the best time I’ve played. Got the pug pet for pugging so much, not hard when you stop expecting everyone to have content on farm/memorized and just lead people a little. “FYI X needs to be interrupted”, “Hey A, can you do B, and G can you do H when that mob does Y”

Easy.
