Which proves that it is perfectly normal for Alliance characters to visit Horde cities. And viceversa.
Yep. People seem to forget that these two terms are just a political difference, not a racial or faction difference.
It’s always just been reserved for NPCs. This again is not a change of anything.
There are high elves studying under the Ren’dorei in Stormwind, so I personally don’t care all that much if they continue giving Void Elves non-Voidy customizations (though I think it should always be paralleled with the Void theme, and I’d like them to be way more creative with that).
Anyway this particular lore is nothing new.
You are correcting something that was never stated.
I said that high elves returned to Quel’Thalas, because Arathor is there.
Arathor is a half elf, yes, I never said anything otherwise.
He being there, being politically affiliated with the alliance means that other high elves are also there.
He’s also completely unescorted and, again, the current leader of the Alliance.
I feel like that’s a pretty solid indication that we’re probably done with interfaction tensions for… Well, until the next time someone breaks the glass over the big red button and slams in a warcrime.
I mean, I am pretty sure that’s the path they are taking though? 2 Alliance cities are already neutral, the Night Elves had no reason to allow the Horde in Amirdrassil and yet here we are. They are pushing heavy towards uniting Azeroth, the Horde and Alliance tribalism just doesn’t seem to fit the story they want to tell anymore.
Besides, the Regent of Stormwind was allowed in no problems, but hey, that’s fine right? Official visit and all that… Except god damn Matthias Shaw, the spymaster of the Alliance was also allowed in Silvermoon, right after the 4th war no less, which is to say, Lor’themar is exceedingly lenient when it comes to allowing Alliance personnel into the city. Plus, it would be great for RP.
He hasn’t ever posed a risk. Velen was allowed in as well. And that was all the way back during TBC.
Lordaeron being rebuilt will most likely be welcoming the alliance there too…
I think going forward it will be the way for the capital cities.
Agreed.
The problem is there are many players who affirm that under no circumstances any kind of Alliance character is allowed in any Horde cities or the other way around.
People yelled when Belameth was revealed to be “neutral”.
It’s ridiculous. People of any faction were always welcomed (at least to certain degree) in any Horde/Alliance city. The problem is game mechanics, but I think that’s something that will change in a near future.
Faction boundaries have definitely been breaking down a lot with time. It’s why I’m pretty favorable of neutral factions in general, and opening up more options for us to RP together (hopefully without Elixir…)
Two facts that are absolutely not correlated at all.
You’re speaking of Arator as if he were some sort of leader of high elves
Belameth wasn’t right because we had just burned Teldrassil two expacs ago. I agree that we shouldn’t have been allowed there. It was a good change for them to make it so we are still watched carefully.
But I think it’s fine if an NPC is just helping and doesn’t pose a risk to be there for a time. I’m just not into opening faction cities.
They are fine as an option. We all shouldn’t be forced into them though. Some of us don’t regret our choice of faction.
Did Velen visit Silvermoon itself or the Sunwell?
Anyway, with how casual it all was for everyone except the timebomb, I’m getting the impression we’re really muddying the faction lines from that short story.
I assumed we were going to be questing out of Quel’danas in Midnight, but suddenly I’m feeling like everyone will get to sit on a throw pillow next to an oddly unspecific hookah.
That does seem to be the case going forward though.
I wouldn’t wager they are going to make a different city hub for Alliance players in Quel’thalas during Midnight. It will most likely be Silvermoon. Belameth was a test to see our reactions.
I can be wrong of course.
Still not a reason to correct something that I never stated.
Please show me where I stated that Arathor is not a half elf.
I reckon we’re moving towards a race structure like Baldur’s Gate 3 has where you pick an overarching race (Human, Elf, etc) and then within each race there are sub races (Kul’Tiran Human, Stormwind Human, Arathi Human, Blood Elf, Night Elf, High Elf)
BG3 also has half-races iirc, so half elves and the like will be in play at some point
I wouldnt characterise a lack of care for keeping faction boundaries to mean a regret of your choice faction
You didn’t say it. You implied it. You said high elves are returning to Quel’thalas and as evidence to your argument you used Arator… who is a half elf.
If that’s not what you wanted to say, you should reword your thread. My 2 c
