So, High Elves returned to Silvermoon, uh?

The Sunwell itself.

According to devs in one of their pre-TWW interviews they are keeping the faction lines in place. So I think while some things will relax depending on choice, not everything will be.

The race structure is not going to change because it is a huge overhaul and would affect the entire character database.

I think the political affiliations after the world soul saga might change from being horde or alliance into being more open. We already have both factions in the same guilds anyway

Some people outright do though. And have stated as such. Some have even changed sides.

Maybe a defection system would work better practically speaking, at least in terms of development resources and finding an in-universe reason for it that doesn’t involve new starting zones and all that.

But for what it’s worth I understand why a lot of people would be reluctant for something like that for completely valid reasons, even if I tend to disagree. I’m not a big proponent of the faction divide, but I can acknowledge that it’s been a part of WoW since its inception and finding ways to circumvent it isn’t going to sit well with everyone.

I just think, personally, that there’s enough groundwork in lore to justify something like an in-game questline or NPC that allows you to convert to the opposite faction, or something along those lines.

Well, they kinda did. We sort of built the city together with them didn’t we? It would be kinda weird for us to work together with them so closely and then when its finished they kick us out and put a sword to our throats to never return. It’s a little different here, at least with the conflict of the Void elves.

Perhaps in midnight the conflict between the two will simmer down and we’ll see something similar to like what happened with Amirdrassil, but I’m still doubtful.

Well, again, I imagine that was due to the fact that Arator was his son. But a argument could be made that it’s also a sign that they’re growing more lenient toward the Alliance in their city.

I can’t remember when this happened to be perfectly honest lol

I would imagine that if this is the case, they really should just make all the faction cities neutral. But heck, if neutrality is what it finally takes in order to see a new Silvermoon, I’ll gladly take it. But I’m still skeptical.

Well, that is until the end of the World Soul saga. So after The Last Titan we might see a change perhaps.

I hope so.

I’m not exactly one of the die hard factionalists but I need someone to arm wrestle on my dwarves (and trolls), dagnabit.

I’m a bit flummoxed, but given how many people had oversight or involvement in the story, I don’t think this is one author slipping odd details in. I think this is the flavor we’ve got going forward, for better and worse. One big short elf collective.

Yeah perhaps you could say the same thing about the race structure of WoW

If I recall correctly, Exploring the Eastern Kingdoms book, when Shaw and Finn travelled around to document artifacts and junk.

They’ve opened a few but they aren’t completely open. Like Belameth and Gilneas aren’t our home. We don’t have full amenities there. We are watched carefully in Belameth. Also Belameth was created to be a neutral city. It was not an Alliance city that went neutral, it’s still not completely neutral. Gilneas was never open to anyone except those that started Worgen. It’s a lot like Suramar. And they aren’t opening Suramar. Since they created a larger area there that’s gonna be open but is still Horde only. Alliance can go to an instace of Brill but not down into UC.

So I see this being a selective thing.

I think people are getting hopes up too high.

Ah, well, if people actually do regret their choice of faction, now is a great time to change. Faction changes are on sale in the store until tomorrow :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s exactly how I think they’ll make Silvermoon. I bet that the ruins on the left side will be the “neutral” space, whereas the right side (the part that is playable right now) will remain Horde exclusive.

You mean something like EQ where you have to earn rep to enter a place?

I don’t know how they’ll do that unless they make it’s own instance. Because it’s still a leveling area for Belves. And not everyone likes the new starting zone.

That’s a good point. Honestly I don’t think they’ll share the same instance? I think the levelling zone will still remain in Outland as it is right now, while the new Silvermoon will be a completely new zone integrated in EK

You know that Arathor is as much a member of the Alliance considering his dad literally leads one of its member state than he is a citizen of Silvermoon. If push comes to shove and another war happens that is when loyalties will truly be tested.

It is from the Exploring Azeroth: The Eastern Kingdoms book by Christie Golden where Matthias and Flynn take some time off to travel around the EK.

But yeah, to keep it on point, it’s almost certain Silvermoon will be updated during Midnight and potentially a questing hub, besides, the devs have been pushing HARD for the conflict between Alliance and Horde to end, as you said, the Horde helped protect Amirdrassil and for that were allowed in there despite… You know, killing a few thousand unarmed night elven civilians and destroying their capital. If that can be forgiven I am sure they will find a way to make Void Elves not pose a problem to the Sunwell so they can hang around Silvermoon.

In theory, I imagine the same way as the Gilneas phases.

Or Undercity/Teldrassil.

I still kind of hope we’re not actually operating out of Silvermoon because come on, but this story is… suggestive.

So maybe that’s what will happen. The Alliance will help rebuild the part of Silvermoon that is still in ruins and they will let us visit that part freely. Maybe with the “watched” debuff
