Which is why Blizzard had to farm out Diablo Immortal to Chinese video game company Netease three years ago. They didn’t have the personnel and expertise in-house.
TBF Diablo 1 was being developed by an outside studio for them until Blizzard bought them and renamed them to Blizzard North. So they’ve outsourced game development before. Diablo Immortal might not be one of their top priorities for mobile gaming. WIth other big games becoming mobile they might be trying to do WoW, SC2, or maybe Overwatch.
They shouldve never replaced Tom Chilton. He made some mistakes but under his lead most expansions were a big success and it felt like true warcraft.
Now hes gone for almost 5 years and nothing to be heard of. If he worked on mobile games all this time, blizzard is more done than i thought.
Mobile is basically the worst iteration of games that exist and i will never touch them.

New World looks interesting and new and just keeps improving since their developers actually listened to feedback and halted release for a year, think it’s this year at some point.
Ashes of Creation also looks good, like a true MMO, far off though.
There’s also always Final Fantasy, which is apparently fantastic once you get past the terrible beginning, new expansion coming out soon too I think.

Ahhhh these are the forums I am used to where every single expansion is always the worst one ever. I like how Legion was the worst expansion when it was out, but now it is good.
Honestly I have a lot of fun with Shadowlands. I am also not the biggest fan of the loot system, and think they could do a lot with upgrading to fix it, but I think I do prefer it to the BFA system. After all I can trivially get an alt to 200 item level with minimal effort and that is more than good enough for any heroic and m+ group (and if I cared more I could do PvP which is the one loot system that works best and get a much higher item level).

Seriously? How is it alt unfriendly? Have you even played an alt yet? All my alts are at renown 30 and at ilvl 195 or higher. I’m pretty sure this expansion is very alt friendly.
And they made torghast progress carry over to alts, which was another big complaint.

WoD had good raiding, Legion had good world content (and good raiding), BFA existed, and SL is basically Legion but with better PvP a more friendly alt catchup, and a much worse loot system.
Edit: basically the problem with WoD was not the content provided but the fact that it was basically missing an entire tier of content to justify its existence. It just did not provide the player with enough content.
WoD was an unfinished, unpolished expansion and the death of flying at max level.
AFAIC WoD was the beginning of WoW’s very steep decline.

I guess it’s a matter of opinion, for me it does feel like a patch, outside of the gorgeous zones which I think they should be praised for, this expansion doesn’t bring nothing else that a patch could. One raid, few dungeons which we’ve gotten in patches before.
We got no new core/allied races, no new class, Shadowlands transmog has been the worst in all expansions previously, with literally the most few armours added into the game from any expansion and literally just recolours, everyone looks the same…let’s go to mounts, yes we got a few new models, but then a bajillion recolours to bloat the numbers to say we added 84 new mounts…
I think it’s safe to say some people think the content is similar to a patch then previous expansions, but like I said it just comes down to personal opinions.

Too be fair it doesn’t really make sense to have Archaeology in the Shadowlands. It’s a timeless place where there isn’t really any ‘artifacts’. The civilization still exists and their history is basically STILL the same.
That’d be like saying you should be able to do archaeological digs in Heaven or Hell.
