So have we lost Blizzard?

Mobile should have been a minor but growth segment for Blizzard two to three years ago but isn’t. Only DI is on the plate and Blizzard won’t be serving it up until months down the road.

The mobile Warcraft push that Kotick mentioned are probably for 2022 and later.

Complaining actually exists in trade chat more than ive ever seen in any expan.

Majority do call this worst expan ever.

Its a bunch of tiny maps separated out to make it feel incredibly unconnected - those that enjoy exploring and doing world quests… its just awful.

You cant gear unless u raid or do rated pvp

Never been a more bring the class expan not the player

Incredibly unfriendly to casual players and prob why mythic + pugs are fewer and fewer

Its a pretty downhill run at this point

Your opinion. WoD I wouldn’t call garbage but just not a lot of content at all. The raids were awesome. First expansion in quite awhile that leveling was a lot of fun imo.

Legion was good as well. Great leveling again. Amazing raids. Added new things.

BfA I actually really liked. Best leveling experience for me. Had an amazing zone Drustvar and Waycrest Manor was an amazing dungeon. Raids again amazing. Added new things like Warfronts and IEs. I know not everyone liked them but there is a lot they can do with those going forward now. Loved the Boralus music.

SL I am liking. Not my favorite one by any means and probably lower on my list but still enjoyable for me. Definitely things I don’t like about it too but I wouldn’t call it garbage.

MMOs are niche now and don’t expect any new good ones. Although LoL’s mmo will be interesting. Also, did Amazon’s mmo already fail? They seem to keep pushing it back and back and not already delayed for an extra year. I remember watching people play it and it looked horrible.

The one good, one bad thing was silly IMO.
And the team is kinda new and or newer positions so it’s not the same ones who worked in the same positions in past expansions (pre BFA)

So I wouldn’t be surprised if this shift in design philosophy and quality is going to be different, worse, etc with this team.

A vast portion of these developers are coming either from backgrounds in mobile-style gaming OR graduating from colleges whose curriculum is heavily focused on app-style/moba/ffa. At least that is what i get out of my nephew (who is in one of those colleges).

We lost blizzard on 2004 november 23rd

Umm, the wow team as it stands, is mostly made up of developers that have been working on Diablo and a few other Blizz games with some veteran OG wow developers still around (believe it or not).

You are probably right for those entering now into the business BUT a lot of the dev talent in Blizz now in established positions have a variety of experience.

My point was not MMO. “Veteran” (or senior if you prefer) voices are frequently mediated to allow younger employees “opportunities” to “show new ideas” so they are not “stifled”, “unhappy”, or “dissatisfied”…or else “things”.

IMHO ever since Legion it’s been downhill. Legion is when they started doing all of this bad crap that they’ve stuck with that has turned the game into a Frankenstein Diablo 3 then actual wow

I would rather have warlords than this.

Yup, makes sense. That’s done in a bit of other ‘creative’ industries too I believe. As Ion once said to some extent, that the devs all kind of pitch ideas and he wants the devs working on things they are interested in. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d definitely rather do Warfronts and Islands. I also enjoyed BfA’s dungeons more. As for Uldir vs CN I’d say both were lackluster. I have 0 desire to play this expansion so far. I haven’t played since the 24th. My sub expires tomorrow. Hopefully they make the game at least semi-enjoyable for me again

Let’s be real, Blizzard was lost the second they allowed Activision through the door.

TBF that wasn’t their doing. It was Blizzard’s parent company Vivendi merging with Activision.

They can, though, by grabbing mommy’s credit card, buying a bunch of tokens to sell, and paying for gear funnel carries.

…Which is starting to seem more and more like it’s working as intended.

Q4 2020 MAUs, which measures player retention nine days after the expansion released (or perhaps earlier, before it released).

Blizzard had no say in that, as they were already owned by some else. Blizzard has had a long string of owners over the years.

so they like the game and their highest prog is lfr clear and renown 11 ?

to fragile to post on your main ?
