So have we lost Blizzard?

Fix’d

What a false statement. Its Q4 numbers, which are highly inflated by HYPE and honeymoon phase. Completely irrelevant. Q1/Q2 will show whats going on and it will be bad.
Hardcore players might stay but the large chunk of casuals and semi casuals will most likely leave.
Also this expansion has nothing to do with WoW so another chunk of players will leave that stayed for the theme etc.

The earnings call talked about MAU as of Q4 2020. That means that they were counting players who played even 1 day in December. So unless a person quit logging in before Dec 1, 2020, nine days after the release of the expansion, they would count in the MAU number.

Even I didn’t quit that quickly. I gave up on the expansion on Dec. 12 (stopped leveling any character or playing my single character at level cap), but then also logged in occasionally after that (for example, to go to a memorial for a great guy, who was our guild tank, who died in January at age 43 of aggressive lymphoma.)

I will stop logging in completely after Feb. 22, when my sub finally expires. So I will not contribute to the MAU number for Q1 2021 (assuming they just use the last month; if they use any month I won’t stop counting until Q2). But there are others who bought six month subs a bit later who may still be lingering, even though they have given up on the expansion and will be really “leaving” soon. Subs and MAUs are a lagging indicator.

I agree, I don’t get what all the complaining is about. I’m having fun, and I’m even playing a spec that I’ve been told I’m not supposed to enjoy! Whatever, lol, I’m still having fun and I won’t apologize for it!

absoutely not

you guys are dumb

Want to explain why wanting basic graphic updates in a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game makes people dumb?

Or can you not provide basic feedback with any actual thought or depth?

seems like ur targeting me according to my feed but let’s go

the reality is, some maps aren’t a priority to a certain team? guess what. same goes for developers. hey does any old school pvpers remember the azshara bg that was meant to be?

i hope u can understand the difference

100% agree with this. Unfortunately for pre-sales they also listed no confirmed date (initially) except that it would be before Dec 31, 2020.

The end product - what we got - seems unfinished unfortunately.

From my perspective - as a complete outsider to their business modeling, etc - I would have greatly preferred them finish Shadowlands, even if that meant playing BfA for a longer period of time. That may not be a popular opinion (especially since the end of BfA got a bit comical with corruption).

I would have preferred Blizzard say, “Listen, COVID sucks. We’re way behind on Shadowlands and we won’t make our deadlines. Our top priority is delivering the highest quality content to players and we don’t feel like we can do that in time to meet the original deadline for pre-purchase (Dec 31). To that end, we’ll offer refunds for any who want to cancel their purchase. To remedy the fact that content has pretty much been completed, we’re going to do something similar to what we did in Burning Crusade. We are shifting a development team into making some smaller content to help fill the gap until we have Shadowlands ready for launch. We’ll let you know more as it develops.”

That’s it.

I even think there was ample room for simple content additions that didn’t involve utilizing graphic designers. They were already trying to handle the level-squish and Chromie-time. Fix the time-walking raids (they’re still pretty messed up) and apply that concept to all old raids (not just one per expansion). Make the Blizzard “anniversary” celebration involve time-walking raids. Update/modify some of the drops with badges, mounts, pets, whatever, and update some of the drops to scale. “Hey, look, you can queue up to do battle against Magtheridon - don’t forget to channel the pedestals! And his head is redeemable for a 32-slot bag!” or “Ragnaros is guaranteed to drop 1 mount per 10 people in your group on a successful kill!” (though these would likely have to have mythic/heroic/hard-mode mechanics).

While I wouldn’t exactly be thrilled running around old content again, at least there’d be some incentives (guaranteed mounts made Mythic Jaina runs pretty regular) and frankly, it would beat the pants off of getting an unfinished expansion.

You have your opinions.

I think Shadowlands is good, and BFA was fairly good as well.

hope you can understand that devs can be wrong

hope u arent always set in ur ways all the times all ur life

That first patch needs to address core issues. If you see more anima adjustments that is when you know they are not clued into what is happening with their player community.

Their problem is removing last expansions bad parts and replacing them with things that aren’t worse, but aren’t really improvements either. How can balance be bad, its easy to use a damage meter and adjust. Are they inept, lazy, or both?!

This is my alt my guy
Instead of be flippant and condescending, maybe voice what your problem is

We have been testing dummies for a lot of things. I think we are about to see a lot of upset WoW fans very soon. Unless blizz has something really good in the pipeline for WoW that we don’t know about. As of now this blizzcon is gonna be a mobilecon if you will.

Then again, look whats going on in the real world, I think this is the least of our worries lol.

i remember when it first started this game all we did was grinded mobs and everyone seemed happy back then now we have all these activities and options now how to play and all i see in complaining just strange when you think about it

Back then you didn’t feel forced due to these systems like they have now. Not only that if I wanted to farm rep, mobs or whatever I wanted to do it was only time gated by me and what kind of time I wanted to put in. As WoW is now, its all time gated by blizz and weeks, days and such.

Sorry but people have been saying this for a long time, Blizz dont care.

No, he’s right it is gender neutral. As a neologism, it’s meaning has changed substantially over the years. So, yes it is neutral, dude.
