So have we given up the fight against botting or what?

Yes that’s my point.

Which is why I’m saying Blizz aren’t really doing much about it.

It’s easy money for them to let the bots continue vs the effort it would take to properly ban someone.

That’s why those “ban waves” don’t mean anything.

The ban waves mean more than anything you have suggested

They ban a few hundred thousand accounts every month or so.

It’s a forever problem for anything online that is popular. It’s not even remotely unique to WoW.

They’re just a show of good faith. It’s an PR move and nothing more. As we discussed they can just create new accounts.

Yes we have discussed that no one is able to give a reasonable alternative to ban waves.

Yeah, i know. I was just using more words since some people don’t seem to get it.

Because there isn’t one. You honestly can’t do anything about it.

Simple as that.

It’s a crappy situation, but that’s just how it is.

As long as the game has free account creations you can’t do anything about it.

Sure is alot of apathy reasoning and what ifs. I am talking about effort here. Trying to actively enforce the rules in a timely fashion. Thats it. And right now I dont see much effort from blizzard combating this problem. Not sure how you can argue otherwise in good faith…

GMs in game that respond to the report quickly, GO THERE, see for themselves, and take action immediately.

Too much to ask?

You can’t use logic and reasoning with these threads, they don’t understand it.

That would require a real, competent human being instead of AI.

LOL. Facts. Hard facts.

I don’t think people here grasp how many accounts we are taking here.

The “just have GMs go look” is going to ban a few hundred accounts a month, compared to the multiple hundreds of thousands they do.

They are doing something. I’ve gotten four mails from Blizzard in the past week thanking me for making a report that resulted in a ban.

It’s just not enough.

Thankfully they’re mostly relegated to mining/herbing or spamming dungeons and aren’t that common in PvP or PvE (not that they don’t exist)

Man I’d love to be paid to sit in Zaralek and just ban every flock of miners I see descending upon a node and then rising up at an impossible 90 degree flight in perfect synchrony.

Well I can agree with that.

Look everyone, I play all versions of wow. Classic, SOD, hardcore, everything.

Bots. Are. Everywhere. I have never seen it this bad. Never. All facets of the game are effected.

If what blizz is doing currently is not enough…then they must do more to protect the integrity of the game. Bottom line.

They need to do more…

While you’re not wrong at all, I just think they don’t want to.

FFXI, 3/4 players cheat at the game. If they banned all the cheaters, the game would die.

I wonder if the same logic applies here?

I am starting to believe this as well…

I know it sounds silly to say but at some point, you have to call a spade a “spade”.
