I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that you have to do the main story questline on one toon to unlock city portals and WQs. But I guess they could have changed that. It was definitely that way when DF launched.

I keep forgetting how many people who hate playing the game, keep playing the game. That’s bordering on addiction. You keep doing something that brings you no joy, simply because it’s the easiest thing that helps you escape all the other things you could be doing with your time.

Like I said, it could have changed…but at least it at launch it required the main story quest to be completed.

I dont really understand what you’re saying here. Dragonflight doesn’t require you to do the main story any more or less than past expansion. Just off the top of my head, in Legion you basically had to complete the story in each zone to even do World Quests.
Just powered through the msq, doing no sidequests, after I spent an enjoyable half hour grinding all but the zaralek caverns flying glyphs.
I was apparently wrong, while you do get just about 5 levels doing the first zone, the other three zones combined have less quests than the first zone. Without needing to fly and grind out mobs for low drop chance quest items, you could probably do zones 2 and 3 in an hour. The longest part of zone 4 so far is the intro quest where you have to sit still for minutes at a time and go hunt for npcs throughout the city.
Reading comprehension level: negative.
You have to do it for pathfinder, actually.
There is no such thing as wasted exp in WoW anymore, exp get converted to gold once you hit max level. Even with out that, the gear rewards will scale slightly to help you gear up.
LOL right? HOW DARE Blizzard make you do the story (which unlocks things) on ONE whole character. The nerve of them.
No clue why the OP is even playing then if they don’t even want to do the actual story content.

I hit 70 doing pet battles and Dreamsurges. From this, I had a full suit of gear. Ready for endgame, only, I’m not because I can’t access world quests yet.
I am not interested in doing 2.5 zones of quests which offer me no benefit. This was not a thing in Wrath, where I can and did grid mobs to 80 and got right to it.
That said, I will probably finish it “eventually.”
Not sure how you managed that. Are you running dungeons? If so, don’t. And don’t do side quests. Problem solved.
Only reason to do the story is to unlock world quests

Funny how none of the people in the thread mentioned that when saying it’s absolutely unnecessary to do the story.
Rep isn’t mandatory for anything end game in DF. Which makes twice a week WQs unimportant. Therefor, questing isn’t mandatory for anything.
If you want access to the WQs, then do what I said: don’t spam dungeons and don’t do side quests. You don’t seem to care about the story, so it doesn’t matter.
Why does endgame matter?
So you don’t want to do the storyline. You don’t care about endgame. Is this just a troll thread? What do you want?
Completing the main storyline on one character, as well as certain side story chains, will unlock things for alts down the line such as some world quests and zone stories.
After that it’s all optional.
