I would like more insight on this please.
Here is some math:
Gameplay is essentially timeless.
Perceived graphical quality is tied to the level of current quality of competing products, and the standards for graphical quality steadily rise over time.
WoW gameplay has not really changed in any significant way.
WoW graphics have not really changed in any significant way.
Subscription numbers have steadily declined since wtolk.
Therefore, it would be logical to assume that the main culprit is the graphical quality of the game.
They didnât fix the Azerite armor issue until the last patch as well. They were very contempt on making people either gamble for BiS traits or wait 30 days for the best one (a single piece). Also the ramping cost to change the selected traits was probably one of the dumbest things they added to the game for no reason.
BFA had fun things like Visions and the Nzoth invasions but good lord the whole expansion felt like the devs were purposely trying to get people to quit.
only smelly nerds care about BiS, the vast majority of customers just want thrall to go pew pew, they donât even have damage meters
according to wowhead only 34% of profiles have Dragonflight Keystone Explorer: Season Two (750 m+ rating)⊠and that is just wowhead profiles, people hardcore enough to have a wowhead profile
The models in diablo 4 and baldurâs gate 3 look like absolute dog feces because of how hard they try to look modern and ultra realistic. Stylistic will always age better even if the interest in the style itself wanes.
I hate when I agree with people on these forums. Iâve been calling Diablo 4: adventures in photogrammetry⊠its like they took things too personal when a few wierdos on the internet called out the diablo 3 style as too cartoony and made diablo 4 look garbage.
Diablo 4 is the first major Blizzard title that I really donât like the art direction of. Maybe it will grow on me, but right now it looks shallow and pedantic.
15 years ago the Diablo 4 graphics and art direction would be top tier, but they have literally degraded in many ways since Diablo 3 rather than improve like they are supposed to.
I did drustvar again yesterday, because of the halloween. Also did the dungeon. Super creep and fun.
Thatâs because it shatters your perception that people might not be as stupid you already have pegged them as. But donât worry, I was assuming the same of you as well.
Trust me Iâm used to it. If I ever met Tom Brady in real life he would probably secretly hate my guts⊠but the dude did nothing but win super bowls for my area so its hard to hate him. Such is the duality of man.
Yep I mean I have the receipts.
Just one big video crying about not ÂŽÂŽearning`` damage, an opinion which was copied and spread widely amongst the small WoW community. Could find the same thing going through old tweets of top players.
Because it is massive flip-flopping. There is this massive snobbish attitude in the WoW community regarding the game. For some reason a certain minority of the WoW playerbase refuses to acknowledge that just something as simple as gearing or grinding stuff can be fun. So when corruptions was out everyone had to clown on it, despite the fact that 4 years later pretty much every person admits it was fun (Preach included).
Its funny corruptions happened because Ion literally acknowledged gearing in WoW was super boring, and they were trying to fix that in BFA. Sadly after all the complaints about gearing to make it more ÂŽÂŽfair`` and ÂŽÂŽrespectful of our timeÂŽÂŽ lol, we are now stuck with this cold porridge gearing in WoW.
We had a long-time player quit in BfA over the RNG of corruption when the system first released.
Her parting words: âAt least in Legion you couldnât get the same bad legendary twice.â
To be fair, defending DF is âpretend its good cause its newâ blinders.
To clarify, I havent played BFA or Shadowlands yet, been gone 12 years and doing all missed content. I did some DF thinking dragon flying could be used everywhere so did some content and cannot stand the story or starting zone so much I stopped and went back to the old expansions once I unlocked flying and snatched all the points needed to train it fully. So I cant speak on BFA but sure can say DF is not good enough to hold me.
So I will go by how many subscribers have quit since BFA, it had far more than DF has and DF has not made the numbers go back up as expansions for many other games do. WoW did not get a bump so something went terribly wrong and was clearly not fixed by DF.
I enjoyed BfA more than DF and SL but Iâm not going to say BfA is better than those two based on my personal preference.
BFA was better than both.
bfa was a good expansion overall. it had flaws yes but dang i had fun the entire time.
I was ahead of the curve give me a damn community achievement! I was saying all of this before it was cool! Proof is here I did a review of the whole of BFA at the end of the expansion you can see the date:
dragonflight is imo the most boring and worst xpac tied with wod. wod might be better though because i liked the class design more.
Nah nah, BFA is the worst. Sure SL is bad too, but not that bad like BFA.
SL have anima issue, and maybe legendaries/torghast. Depends on playersâ opinions.
BFA have so many things to grind. Azerite/armor/traits, essences [all ranks], corruptions, islands expedition, and donât get me started with the storyline. Itâs a truly, awful expansion.
BFA is probably the only expansion with so many borrowed powers.
They do update the engine, with every expansion. Thatâs why the requirements for the game goes up with each expansion.
So long as your computer matched the bare minimum it can run wow.
BfA Season 4 was by far my favorite time to play WoW, so it wasnât just top group content players that enjoyed it.
Meaningful solo progression and challenge has been going downhill ever since 8.3. SLâs Torghast could have been great but dropped the wrong rewards. DF doesnât really have any features for solo players.
BfA class design wasnât the best, but being able to customize your Azerite traits and essences, and eventually your corruptions, added a lot of player agency to your gameplay.
