The graphics of the original zones is no where near as good as the graphic of new zones.
EQ2 had more realistic graphics. More higher end. And I would say WoWs choice was more timeless. When pursuing better/more realistic graphics they dont age well as tech advances.
Just like you are objectively wrong about saying that MMO graphics sells. Plenty of better graphics games have been released. They are mostly irrelevant now.
Just like you are wrong about classic original zones being higher graphical quality than todayās.
I agree, BfA S4 was a blast. Not quite as much fun as Legion, but definitely way up there as one of the most fun patches. Running around with >50% haste and crit due to corruptions before VF buffed them both to over 100% was incredibly fun.
You need to combine both top tier art direction/technology with good gameplay. Really what sells games most of the time are the graphics and art direction.
For insular gaming communities gameplay is more important. For the dudes wearing basketball shorts and playing on their playstation, what they really care about are graphics. And dudes wearing basketball shorts and drinking beer with their friends while they chop heads off dudes in god of war or whatever are who constitute the bulk of the consumer base of video games.
Occasionally you will have games like minecraft or fortnite, but the reason those games work is because the gameplay is apparently so much more appealing than the competition.
I feel like not having the heart of Azeroth neckless at all, and not having essences, would have great changes.
I didnāt mind Azerite gear itself as pseudo tier gear (bonuses, not visual which was lame) but leveling a neck to unlock traits was lame. Imagine if you had to grind some AP to use your tier set bonus right now.
What I found about BfA was that I really liked the Horde story of Good King Rastakhan and his daughter now Queen Talanji. I thought Loa Bwonsamdi, a con artist god made a good villan.
I liked the setting for the alliance story. The map with the villages and towns was done really well but I was just not that crazy about the story itself.
It was fun burning down the Night Elfās stump ā¦ oh excuse me ā¦ their tree. Iād still like to know who cut the tree down. The stump itself was massive with two zones on the top, imagine how big the tree must have been. And what did they do with all that wood?
Queen Azsharaās underwater world was fun as well.
Going through there on an alt and I forgot how fun the drustvar quests are. Ran into that creepy little girl one yesterday and it was perfect for Halloween!
Yeah on little weird internet forums like this. The vast majority of people who play games want to invest an hour a day at most and feel like they are in the wild west or some alien planet or something. They donāt care about having a game be replayable for 40 hours a week like the people here.
Negative voices are the loudest, and the more people that are playing through content, the more people there are to have something to complain about. Sometimes a swarm of complaints just means a lot of people are playing.
People are emotional and one very bad experience can make a personās mind generate all sorts of general complaints about unrelated aspects of the content, and they head to the internet to vent.
Itās tricky. They have to be very careful about treating general discourse about the content as āfeedbackā, because itās really not the same thing. There is a difference between someone venting about a personal experience they had within the game, and someone providing a rational analysis of the gameplay and mechanics without being influenced by their emotions. Usually that requires someone to go in with the mindset of providing feedback, not just deciding to provide āfeedbackā on the spot when they get upset by something.
It might take a little while for the marketing and word of mouth to spread, but if gameplay was adapted to suit the needs of the masses+major graphical overhaul there is a very good chance there would be wtolk sub numbers again. I donāt know how modern consumers feel about a subscription fee, so it might have to go to a f2p model or something as well.
For me personally, no itās not. BFA was the expansion that broke me and I ended up quitting. I got my kill on Gāhuun and peaced out before BFAās first patch and played other games until rumors of DF not having AP grinds started floating around. Came back in SL final patch to get ready for DF.
I look back pretty fondly on BFA. That was when my beloved Shadow Priest still had voidform and I managed to pug Keystone Master as a Shadow Priest.
I remember having a ton of corrupted gear that gave me insane amounts of haste (over 100% I believe) and I got the rank 4 meme beam lol
I also remember playing my fire mage in PvP which was a lot of fun. Greater Pyroblast had no CD and coupled with the flame cannon talent you could sit way back and take people out. I remember using it to take out a guardian Druid that refused to die. You could see the panic set in as his health just chunked away. Good times
I always felt that what should have happened is you get a ton of powers the first 3 floors. Then the last 2 floors were to test said build.
The boss rush piece was the most fun mode due to power la dropping right off the rip.
Also the art direction was all the same. They shoulda made captain nips affect death across the universe and the torghast wings were other realities in addition to the torghast wings. Could make mog and mount variety besides just maw stuff.
Also i agree with the take that because mandatory mats for gear were in there the content had to be dumbed down so everyone could do it which made it more boring
