to be honest theres alot of hubbub about the faction imbalance that while i give credit to it , it isnt enough to explain the disparity of wins and losses by itself and the players themselves have to take a share of the burden too.
my brother, don’t act like a ret can’t nuke your average melee in a single hoj faster than a rogue can nuke a caster in a stunlock. any ret with their monitor turned on is way more broken than any boomkin, hunter, rogue, shaman, etc that you see all the time. pallies are disgusting and have no counterplay right now.
Now apply this logic to bubble. And bubble is only as good as the Paladin who uses it.
Countless times I see Paladins bubbling to heal themselves. I wish these chad Rets was around like you guys say, If they were alliances probably wouldnt be losing most of the AB pugs going on.
The explanation for the disparity of wins and losses is obvious. Blizzard gave Horde better PvP racials 20 years ago in original vanilla, and for twenty years the vast majority of players who want to PvP have rolled Horde as a consequence. There’s a literal culture of Horde PvP supremacy that’s an entire two decades old at this point, as seen back in 2019 when Alliance got straight up pushed off of PvP servers in Phase 2.
Shame? Lmao nah, why would I feel shame? It’s just a game. I’m just being pragmatic. Blizzard didn’t even try to fix Faction Disparity in SoD PvP, and in fact they made it so much worse by letting Shamans be top dog through Phase 2-4.
Paladins being OP in Phase 5 literally makes things fairer and more balanced. Symmetrically fair? Of course not. But as I said before, Classic/SoD is not based around symmetrical balance.
In this case, even if its asymmetrical, SoD PvP is unironically more balanced right now than it has been at any point in all of SoD.
it was phase 2 through 3 that shaman was op (more so in p2 cause way of earth dual rb was cray cray) .
p1 they sucked .
p4-5 they were not what they were in p2 or p3.
as for the faction disparity , there was the fact that pvpers who wanted to try harder and benefit from the racials all went horde .
there was also the fact that p2-3 shaman was bonkers though the p3 version of it actually had some weaknesses that were able to be exploited but people diddnt cause they just gave up before hand.
you guys have been giving up since p1 when you would say “they have more priests afk till next” then it became shaman and youve lumped all the losses on shaman ever since and then more recently shaman and moonkin with a little hunter thrown in throughout as they have been at or near the top of pvp the whole way through sod.
face it. you guys giving up before even trying to fight is a large part of the cause that you lose so much.
you obviously convinced yourself that no matter what if there are 2+ shaman you cant win cause of racials and shaman when the secret is , alot of shaman are terrible at pvp and not even ele spec and can be easily beaten. its just like pallies , though i would say there are more ret /holy there and the shaman is more of a mix of all of them.
if you give up before you start , no wonder you lose.
if i were to have said what you said , i wouldve felt shame in myself and the faction as a whole.
Yeah that’s pretty weird dude, sounds like you care a little too much about Faction Pride or something, lol. I’m just pointing out facts. No shame to be had in acknowledging the game’s imbalance or that the current state of affairs is better than it’s been at any point in the rest of SoD.
it would be shame cause i would know that the cause of all the losing being blamed on faction differences isnt even 30% of the reason you guys lose so much.
ive played against alliance premades as a pug and as a premade myself and see the actual potential you guys have to just absolutely wreck in pvp ,faction differences or not.
the shame also of giving up before even trying or taking 1 step in a bg would be enough to make me not want to associate with those players .
Yeah, that’s just you moving the goalposts to be honest. I have never once advocated for giving up in PvP in this thread lol.
You’re talking about giving up, while I’m talking about the fact that Ret being OP in PvP is unironically healthier for the state of SoD as a whole. Not just for Ret players, not just for Alliance, but for both sides.
Ret being OP in PvP doesn’t suddenly give Alliance a 90% win rate or anything. It simply lowers the Horde’s win rate to something more reasonable like 60% and gives the Alliance a greater chance of winning each BG.
Horde should want Ret Paladins to remain OP as much as Alliance does, because the longer Ret is OP, the more Alliance will queue for BGs and the shorter Horde queues will get.
As is, you guys are heading towards a cliff of hour long BG queues as more and more Alliance get Rank 13. If Ret gets PvP nerfed like everyone is calling for, those hour long BG queues become a reality.
Yeah this dude is talking about Alliance giving up in Phase 1, but actually, Phase 1 was also unironically one of the most balanced PvP phases in SoD. Why? Because Ret was OP in Phase 1 as well.
The game only got truly unbalanced and the Horde Advantage only became truly insurmountable in Phase 2-4 when shamans got buffed into Hero Class status and Ret was left to languish as a weird ‘exodin’ archetype for multiple phases.
i was happy moonkin/pallies/hunters/ele were all strong and advocated for them all to remain strong and for people not to call for nerfs , but then look what they did to my baby…
well now cause everyone else got their revenge nerf i want mine.
also if you want to nerf for balance, nerf the classes that are op currently.
Awww horde are mad their 100% supremacy has ended and they actually have to try now Urivial is right, paladins HAVE to be OP in PvP for ally to even stand a fraction of a chance. Get used to it kids, if you want balance in PvP go play retail (it’s not balanced their either lol)!
they probably shouldn’t have gutted the heals you guys have been using the entirety of the game lmao but ayyy the devs are bad what ya gonna do? (play a superior game retail baybay)
nah but it sure is a lot closer in balance than SoD is
honestly though people have focused so hard on shaman being op they seem to also fail to see that plenty of other classes have been and still remain op compared to the rest (at different times during sod though hunter has remained top 3 in pvp for pretty much alll of sod or at least tied for 3 or above).
this is why I invested a decent chunk of time in SoD, but tbh SoD turned out to be a wash. it does turn into a queue from the capital city simulator in retail, but there is still wpvp going on in retail. when was the last time you played? they have crates full of honor and conquest that drop like every 30 mins or so in a zone, alliance and horde fight for control over the box when it drops
Pala is prob the most played class on alliance side. It’s been the case in BG even when it was crap and people would complain because 5+ paladins in the BG meant certain loss.
Ret pal is doing great once you get some gear now but you never want to stack it in premade. War is a better option for MS.
Quit in S1 of dragonflight after getting legend is solo shuffle, realized that wpvp quests that were free for alls didn’t scratch the same itch that blowing some random dudes head off that was on his way to do stratholme did. At the end of the day SoD has a plethora of problems but it’s still a far better option for someone who enjoys the old school style of MMOs.
they’ve been focused on shaman because alliance were losing like 90% of their games because shaman were specific to the horde, while paladin in comparison straight up sucked during that time. now that paladins are top dog, alliance are winning more games.
people are going to complain when it feels like they’re unable to win when everyone tries. it’s still the same people playing on alliance that have been playing for all of SoD, the same alliance that does have people that say “let them win”.
it wasn’t “let them win” people alone that made alliance lose 90% of their games, it may have been a contributing factor, but it was shamans being better than paladins in addition to the plethora of map and racial advantages that horde players enjoy in the classic setting
this is valid AF free for all areas are kinda weird. the sandbox aspect of having an actual world where people have to travel to get things done is what kept me playing SoD.
bad decision after bad decision AND lack of bug fixes from bugs that have been in the game SINCE OG VANILLA!!! (the 0.5 quest to save Ysida by timing UD strat was bugged out because one random dude my group picked up talked to the ghost dude in the church and it bugged out the quest after killing Baron) is what got me off SoD.
