SL warlock changes are up

OFC this is all subject to change. And since it’s for SL, it doesn’t mean crap for the current PvP season.

That being said, this one should be interesting.

Grimoire of Supremacy renamed Rain of Chaos. While your initial Infernal is active, every Soul Shard you spend has a 15% chance to summon an additional Infernal that lasts 10 seconds.

  • Developers’ notes: Grimoire of Supremacy was too integral to Destruction’s damage output, even without Vision of Perfection. It also created unhealthy gameplay in PvP. We want this talent to remain powerful and exciting, so instead of ramping Chaos Bolt damage, Warlocks can try to maximize the amounts of Infernals spawned. The goal is to provide the same fun gameplay, without being too reliant on getting a very high modifier on your Chaos Bolt.

They admit it yet still won’t fix until shadowlands lol

¯_(ツ)_/¯.

Another change is Soulfire. Soulfire is now a 4 Second cast dealing 300% of spellpower, up from 100% of spellpower. 1 minute cooldown. Sounds a bit more like the vanilla soulfire.

And Shadowburn is an execute / mobility shard spender, with 120% spellpower damage up from 60% spellpower.

These are all changes to talents.

Some Arms warrior changes. Sounds fun to me.

Arms Warrior

  • Mastery: Deep Wounds has been redesigned. Now, Mortal Strike and Bladestorm inflict Deep Wounds, dealing Bleed damage over 12 seconds and increasing the damage the enemy takes from you.*
    • Developers’ notes: Removing Execute as a Deep Wounds applicator helps keep Mortal Strike relevant sub-20% health, without relying entirely on its damage-per-Rage in comparison to Execute.
  • Mastery rating will increase the “damage the enemy takes from you” effect, rather than Deep Wounds’ damage

Ravager has been redesigned to give it more identity, and differentiation from Bladestorm. Ravager again replaces Bladestorm when talented, and inflicts Deep Wounds (reverting previous Shadowlands changes). Cooldown reduced to 45 seconds, and duration increased to 12 seconds (still reduced by Haste). Ravager now chases nearby enemies.

Ahh heck here we go again. Where’s who was it… Rorke?

Can they do frost dk changes and actually bring make 2h frost. 2h as it stands is trash in alpha. Really hoping for a mop/cata frost dk to make a return with fat obliderates.

Yeah dunno. They seem to be doing more of these ‘Feedback’ based update posts. I just check wowhead every few days. This one’s pretty recent. Fingers crossed for our beloved specs. Seeing talents get redesigned is hype.

Fury Warrior’s getting Single minded Fury back. (1h Dual Wield Fury)

idk, I really dislike burst being tied to rng, this sounds a lot like visions procs which imo dont provide fun gameplay and it’s near impossible to balance rng spikes

even with grimsups’ flaws, I do think that fundamentally it works best.
player puts in x effort to receive y output, instead of player putting in x effort but output can be y or z or whatever with little to no control

super happy about shadowburn execute coming back though! (unless I read it wrong)

I think this is a really dumb change. Destro is about big bolts. Supremacy is what makes the spec fun and not RNG trash. IMO destro is perfectly fine, the issue is just the insane amount of haste everyone has.

In Slands with low haste GrimSup wont even be used in pvp so no idea what they are on about…

Watch this talent get nerfed into the ground later in xpack once ppl have high haste and are summoning 5-10 infernals in that 30 second window in PvE

I mean. If i had to pick between big chaos bolts and raining infernals. I’d definitely pick big chaos bolts. I hate pets. HATE HATE HATE pets. Specifically lots of them.

But it’s interesting they’re looking at changing the ability. Fingers crossed.

They also changed one of the talents on that row to make the target take 30% more fire damage (not chaos bolt) so maybe an incinerate build will be available, which would make me happy. I much prefer traditional destro where it was a conflag / incinerate caster with the occasional bolt. Which is what we have now, by that definition. But the conflag and incinerates feel moot.

They’re changing lots of talents. Soul Fire is a 4 second cast w/ 200% increased damage. (300% up from 100%) (so still not great damage? lol.) Conflag dot is now a 30% fire damage taken debuff. There were a few others. They’re up on wowhead.

We’ll see where this goes.

Oh Rain of Fire’s damage was increased by 30%.

Proof the devs are clueless and Shadowlands will be trash.

  1. The bolt buff stacking was only an issue because you could rng back to back to back infernals for like a 5 minute window to stack it.
  2. Getting smacked down by multiple infernals when you’re trying to run for your life from a Destro with cd’s popped is way more unhealthy than getting caught with a bolt.

And ravager chases you now? Damn that just sounds really stupid and like they slapped training wheels on the ability.

destro was oppressive in s2/3 and corruptions didnt exist

suprem is only an issue with vop this is a bad change

the real issue is their durability

The spec needs to not completely revolve around Infernal/DS.

Yes the durability is a problem, but that has been nerfed slightly since 8.1 (demon armor).

8.1 Destro wasn’t scary to face, it was a live lord spec that could oom your healer because of self healing.

Sadly supremacy should be removed, but what they replaced it with is not what Destro needed. Destro needed to spread its damage across its kit and not focused on CB/DS. While also nerfing their passive tankiness.

I disagree with this. What set Destro apart from other casters and made good players stand out was it’s total reliance on landing bolts for damage. Everything else was a means to that end. Really good Destros would find windows to get those slow to liftoff ICBM’s into the air and you paid dearly for it when they did.

Seems really toxic to spread the damage out into pets and other casts(aside from the execute spell) as it just makes their damage unavoidable and bland.

they’re doing what you guys asked for for dmg, taking dmg away from a giant infernal window and leveling it out Over the course of a fight

It’ll be way more manageable and the 2 shots will be gone

What’s going to be their pvp thing imo is decimating bolt/havoc/roaring blaze/incinerate imo

if shadowburn execute returns (the fatty ones) the ‘need’ for 2 shot bolts will also be gone, nothing is more frustrating from the locks pov than seeing someone at 10% ish hp after a window and not being able to finish it

There is no 2 shot bolts in shadowlands, it’s done as of now

They buffed shadowburn and soul fire but On those talent rows they still won’t get taken without additional tuning imo

Shadowburn is getting buffed big time for sure, but I really hope players get to work with the big bolt type of gameplay as well. I’d wish to see bolts be a LOT more impactful and rewarding outside of major cds when casted off a flawless setup or something. MoP-WoD destro really gave that feel and I wish the devs recognize the advantages and engagement the spec brought back then and try to re-implement elements of that.

They’re going to have to tune bolt to account for so much of its power being removed from gosup

Here’s to hoping they make channel demo fire baseline/shadowburn baseline and tuning them appropriately

Thanks god they listened Arms being a horrible bleed spec instead of a warrior doing big dmg was dumb.

Of course it’s unhealthy in PvP there are 1,000’s of threads and anyone that watched the AWC knows lock is the worst designed spec of all time. Now fix it in BFA too so we can enjoy the next 6 months till SL comes out.

No one in the history of the world has been more wrong than with this statement. Destro is the most broken designed class in the game. It is the furthest from fine of any spec. Everything needs to be redesigned.

Now fix their tool kit, remove roots/stun and their tankiness.
