In the scenario described, I’d take whoever has timed more dungeons first. Ilevel is nice but I care much more about your ability to survive than output.
Sure, alts get gear up more quickly, but i don’t think ilevel is the deciding factor most people are using. Timed key history, class abilities, and covenant are going to be much higher on the list.
How often are two players of the same class, covenant and who have run the same exact number of timed dungeons going to be competing for slots against each other?
Eh, I’d rather have more reasons to get KSM than less. I get your position, I really do, but… M+ is already incredibly rewarding for content that gives you gear for failing.
Heck I helped a lot of people get their KSM, and the majority of them said it felt great to have something to look forward to. And the valor change in general was fantastic as it got loads of higher level players participating in lower level keys.
I also love the fact that I can now target specific pieces in dungeons like the scale trinket, rather than just pray that I get a 226 one in the chest or settle for a 210 one.
Again, this is a hypothetical to show how it makes a difference that an alt has valor upgrades unlocked. If anything, due to having a main with KSM unlocked, they likely have a larger network of people to run with them, which will also mean the alt likely has more runs, or, has simply skipped straight to 10’s being carried a bit and simply jumping a rung of the ladder.
? you do a +5 and then you’re able to upgrade items to 207, which is higher than what drops in +10s. Not sure how that’s a huge problem (unless you believe that gear is NOT commensurate with challenge or difficulty I suppose). I
I 100% believe that valor would be much better if we could just BUY the base 184 item. I think it’d make a big difference in how people approach M+. As it is, you still need RNG on your side.
Okay this I buy as an advantage, but it still doesn’t get around the fact that many -like myself - care about total number of timed dungeons. Alts that got carried won’t have many even if their IO score is good…unless they’ve run a ton - at which point, who cares?
I mean… that’s the point of an MMORPG… to socialize and build networks mate. I’d rather more systems be in place that somewhat incentivize this. With almost everything being cross-realm… I’m 100% certain you can find people you mesh with to do content with. There are communities at all points of the difficulty spectrum.
There’s >100,000 characters who have done +15 keys, that’s a lot, and it’s not a leet accomplishment anymore. Hasn’t been for months, it just means you play M+.
Paid carries are not as common as you think, you get maybe 1/20 applications as a carry when you’re making a group, and most key holders wont invite them. Nearly all the pug players in high keys are legitimate.
But I guess you wouldn’t know, and its easy to sit around making by stuff up when you don’t know or understand anything.
It’s the equivalent of a college degree. It’s a relatively time consuming achievement with a number of barriers to entry, but it’s really not that hard to pull off. Mostly a signifier of both dedication and that you’re fortunate enough to have the time to pursue it. That said, it is an achievement that while many get, most don’t.
